“You lied to the FBI about three different topics, and you made those false statements while you were serving as the National Security Adviser — the President of the United States’ most senior national security aid. I can’t minimize that. I mean, arguably, that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably, you sold your country out.”
—U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan, at Michael Flynn’s hearing, December 2018.
“You know, people sometimes plead to things — that turn out not to be crimes.”
—William Barr, in justifying the dropping of charges against Flynn by the Department of Justice.
“The judge could be concerned this is cronyism. I would predict that he holds a hearing and has the prosecutors justify the decision they made. When a defendant has gone all the way down the line to pleading guilty, the bar to dismiss has to be high,” she said.
—Former federal judge Nancy Gertner, who now teaches at Harvard Law School, on the decision by DOJ to drop charges against Flynn.
The legislative branch has abrogated its power to the executive. Will the judicial branch refuse to do so? We can only hope and upholding the Flynn conviction is one way to prove it.
The expression, “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark” from Hamlet appropriately applies to the WH, the Justice Department, the Senate, and we are about to find out about the Supreme Court. Hard to stomach the stench.
If you guys are not upset that the FBI, CIA, President Obama etc. have misused the FISA courrt system, misused the Justice Department, lied to Congress, lied to America about “Russia”, I do not know what to say. There are HANDWRITTEN notes from these “public servants” describing how to frame Flynn, a career soldier, a three star General, and going so far as to threaten him with his son’s life if he did not plead guilty. The judge you are citing is a democrat first, a judge second. He has demonstrated that during the course of this trial. Flynn was set up, much as Jim Brown was years ago. We know Obama was involved because of statement by Sally Yates.
The rot in Denmark was the Obama Administration that began with selling guns to drug cartels and ended when he tried to frame his successor with a lot in between. Any blind person could see that.Dislike of Trump is one thing. Accepting the corruption of the Obama Administration is something else.
Of course you guys are going to argue that this was somehow Trumps fault, but the fact is, Trump was correct, Obama had him wiretapped Trump Tower. Obama was trying to take Trump out before he was worn in. That should be inexcusable no matter who did it. There was zero Russian collusion by Trump, but not so true with Hillary Rodham Clinton. Imagine Bush doing that to Obama. You would be rightfully outraged.
And Stephen, no one has abrogate its power. If anything, the legislature abused its power with the sham impeachment. We have ample proof that Adam Schiff withheld information and outright lied repeatedly, yet you “good government ” guys are not bothered in the least. And CJ, you know where the rot is, and it is not executive branch.
Misuse of the FISA court notwithstanding (and that’s the interpretation of Bill Barr), Michael Flynn pleaded guilty – twice.
I repeat: he pleaded guilty. But Trump and Barr have chosen to “misuse” the DOJ for their personal benefit.
End of story.

And from Wiki:
Thank you Fredster. Your info gave me further insights into the garbage Ms. Zoe reads (after watching Fox all night or day I suppose). It has made me realize more than ever that there is no reasoning with people who infest their minds with such rot.
And, as added info to what you provided, Citizens United is a PAC, founded in 1988 by Floyd Brown, a longtime Washington political consultant, with major funding from the Koch brothers. This PAC is the one who sued the Federal Election Commission and the case found it’s way to the Supreme Court which ruled in their favor in 2009, allowing corporations almost unlimited political spending and undermining the influence of average Americans who make small contributions to support their preferred candidates. It gave the special interests and their lobbyists extraordinary power in Washington to the detriment of the consumers.

Yes CJ, something is rotten in Denmark and it will be straightened out. And Stephen, I know you are not totally blind. Tell me that this is a scam when we have evidence otherwise.
As for Judge Nancy (above quote), yes the bar should be held high. And it looks like Obama, Comey, McCabe, Clapper, Strozk, etc will all be hanging from it. Every one of them violated their oath to this country.
Fred, appreciate the research…I was not endorsing a website, just did a quick Google search to make a point. I am disturbed that seemingly intelligent people would ignore issues like my above statement simply because they do not like someone. Each of those articles are factual in content, regardless of any editorial slant. What is more interesting is that CNN, MSNBC etc. have failed to report or make a single comment simply because this release of documents is contrary to their editorial slant.
Did you find a single untruth in what I posted ? I tried to shy away from anything outlandish, but the fact is Comey is a liar. Clapper is a liar. McCabe is a liar. Strozk is a liar. Page is a liar. Rodstein is a liar. Brennan is a liar. Flynn was set up and we have written proof in their(FBI) HANDWRITTEN notes. . I am not denying that he talked to his Russian counterpart, but that is not a crime. So did Obama’s security advisor. So did Bush’s advisor. The alleged crime was not admitting the conversation which he should have known was overheard, so maybe he is not smart enough to be Advisor…. . Which is more harmful to the republic? A President who tries to set up his successor as a criminal dealing with enemyor an FBI leader who disobeys law he has sworn to uphold ? A CIA head who lies to Congress ? A President that weaponizes the IRS ? A President that plots to entrap someone ? This is bureaucracy rum amok.
Stephen, CJ, Tom, Edith all hate Trump. I understand. But I would hope they (and you) would want better performance from people like Comey et al. Barr has a lifetime reputation that is pretty favorable. To slander him for doing his job…..Well, that is dishonorable to say the least. It is hardly uncommon to drop charges when facts surface that the police made up their own facts.
Zoe, you may not be endorsing that site but you have used links from there twice which seems to imply it’s on your regular reading list.
A President that weaponizes the IRS
That was NIxon.
I don’t hate Trump; that would consume too much energy. But I don’t want to see him reelected either so there’s that.
One question, Zoe: Can you name one person in Congress….no, Washington…whom you can fully trust? Do you think you can trust Trump? AGs Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Bill Barr, Presidents Obama, W. Bush, Clinton? Do you actually have faith in Mike Pence? Rand Paul? Jim Jordan? Ted Cruz? Lindsey Graham? Anyone? Anyone?
Gee, I can’t imagine my written notes as I am listening to a mob boss breaking the law or worse being treasonous to the US. Guess that would apply to a person with a high level of education, vast experience in the area of action and has complete knowledge of what he is doining is wrong. Yep I think asking leading questions is how the “good guys” catch the “bad guys”, especially like the one described above. Of course that is General Fylnn. In most, if not every previous administration he would be “person non gratta” much less praised by an administration. After all there are about 360 million americans and one that has better ethics might be available if that is actually desired. So I would not be suprised that with experience expectations based on previous administrations the enlightment of this activity (already preformed) would result in an expectation of dismissal and likely conviction. My take Remi DeLouche
On the diversion attempts of zoe. He reminds me of a debater at the LSU free speech alley, having fun trying to show how smart he is to make a point that appears in the moment to be realistic, in just the moment. Of course that might win you the debate points, but later when the audience has time to ponder the facts their actions follow the facts. Thouisands of thousands of lies, I dont appreciate people that materially lie to me, about relivant facts. Zoe knows that there is a difference in saying to an adoring parent, “I like the dance ability of their toddler” vs saying “I dont seeing anything special”, just as there is a difference between going 75 mph on the interstate and someone hitting 100 mph on a local street., Oddly for Zoe the law even knows the difference, but the “smart one” in a quick debate wont acknowledge that. I have better things to do with my time to run down ZOE’s prouncements as facts, when this administration has been proven material fact liars. Till
FISA?? ZOE is off her thinking and having a ball writing this garbage. FISA as I remember was to get George W. out of deep shimski re combatants. He/she does not deserve any reply, remember he/she gets points from Putin and Brad Perscale, we should just ignore he/she. . thanks and what a country ron thompson
Well Fred, I simply Google stuff for a quick reference, same as you. Is there a lie in what I posted ? Nope. Each article was about actually released documents. And I was not around when Nixon was running things, but I was when Obama was and BHO may have copied Nixon, in which case they both were corrupt. So, is it safe to assume you are a supporter of Joe Biden and the Democrat agenda ?
GJ, Who do I think is honest ? Rand Paul, the libertarian seems to be. William Barr has excellent credentials and democrats liked him until he went to work for Trump. I think Jeff Sessions was an honorable man. Sally Yates has admitted Obama was aware of frame job on General Flynn, so either she is honest (she knew about frame job) or is trying to save herself. Yes, I see. You just do not want to advocate openly for the Democrat agenda which I view as destructive to the American way of life. (and no, I do not think we are perfect or that Trump is perfect). Yes CJ, I do watch rot. CNN and MSNBC in particular. Both are shameless. Have you ever watched Don Lemon ? Rachel Maddow ? everything is racist or conspiracy with them. Not a shred of facts, just their personal observations. Chris Matthews – and he criticized trump as sexist ? Cuomo, who can dish it out but is agressive when he is confronted? There is no reasoning with people like you who are close minded about whatever they believe to be fact and every thing else is a fiction (or rot as you say). I am anxious to see what you say after the corruption by the FBI, BIA, NSA, Obama administration is exposed in court documents. Who will sing first ? I am betting on Lisa Page and Sally Yates. How about you ?
Tractor, I do not believe what I write is garbage but if you do not like it, don’t read it, I really do not care about how you digest information.. FISA was created to protect the rights of American citizens from on over zealous intelligence community.Evidently you support a Gestapo style agency, so I can dismiss any future comments you might contribute as I believe in 1st and 4th Amendment rights. Supporters of the Gestapo do not. I suppose you fall in the latter category based on your comments.
Remi, how would you feel if you were cornered, denied your rights and notes on a topic, framed for a criminal act and told your child would be jailed if you did not plead guilty ? I believe I know the answer and if you have a child I know what your answer would be. Flynn was fired because of the charges, Right ? He was a “persona non grata”. He was bankrupted. He lost his home. Do you really believe justice was served ? Are you happy ? Do you think this is fair ? Is this a diversion when you explain something by example ? And I did attend LSU. I also went to Free Speech Alley. I also took debate. And philosophy. And there is no difference in going 100 m.p.h on Interstate versus 75 m.p.h. on a city street; both violate state or local ordinances.Bad example. As for the dancing toddler, one was a compliment, the other an insult (though perhaps honest). Another bad example and poor rationale. If you disagree with my “pronouncements” we will see who has their facts straight when the U S Attorney has completed his investigation. You will not be happy obviously, because your people were the liars of substance. And if you believe it is okay to frame someone, I hope this never happens to you, because you will see the unfair side of lady justice. In any normal case, once one determines someone was denied his or her rights, the case is thrown out. You all know that. This is a political lynch job. Period.

Ben, Fred, CJ, DJ, Tractor. You can read this. You can ignore it. You can say it is not true. But the editorial pretty well sums up everything discussed above.
Maybe everybody should read the article below. The FBI official, whose notes DOJ lawyers are now using to argue to have the charges against Flynn dropped, gives a different story. For some reason the DOJ boys didn’t tell the judge about the interview with him. They just presented his notes.
It is refreshing to see Zoe slaying communist on this blog.
ZOE, Thanks for reading my reply. I would use more time but it is unworthy of my experience of tracking an administration that lies beginning with the beginning, his crowd size and the vast number of that continue. Flynn was fired for being caught for lying to the Vice President lest you forget. He like Insurance commissioner Brown were convicted for lying to the FBI, and he is an educated individual with a military 3 star general level of understanding what actions he was undertaking and again when he was he was lying about it to the FBI about his actions with the Russians. Like a mob boss of the family, as to his son, what crimes did he commit? Didn’t former Edwin Edwards get a similar proposal about his son when he was convicted. This was not a white lie, this was while Russa was infiltrating our country attempting to cause disruption and to pit our citixens agains each other even, to the point of artificially setting opposing demonstrations on the corners across from each other.
Remi, you surely know there was zero “collusion” between Trump campaign and Russia. Meuller said so.Clapper said so (before he said yes while working for CNN). Brennan said so. (ditto the CNN employment). I never stated that Trump should not have fired Flynn for lying to Pence…I said the FBI “lie” was a scam as revealed by HANDWRITTEN NOTES” released by Richard Grenell. Flynn admitted guilt because the son was threatened with prison. That is the issue. A brand new police officer knows the Miranda rule as I am sure you do. Ben (above) is apparently unaware that a failure to read Miranda rights is cuase to throw a case out. Period. FBI advised Flynn an attorney was not necessary. That was a LIE. Edwin Edwards son is still in prison BTW. And, you did not answer me – what if you had same experience with renegade FBI agents as Flynn ?
Suppose you had a few drinks, were driving home (not necessarily inebriated), and were stopped by a police officer. He asks have you been drinking ? You, knowing that if you acknowledge by saying yes, he will likely arrest you for driving under the influence. You are aware that you do not have to be .08 to be convicted and by your own admission, you were drinking. You likely would say no sir and let him attempt to prove it. It is not against the law to lie to the police. That very same act can send one to prison if the police officer is FBI. That is why Flynn should have told Comey “no, I will not talk to you or any of your employees”. But he was to dumb, to arrogant, or just assumed he had nothing to fear. Who knows? In the case of Jim Brown, the FBI refused to allow him to review notes from prior conversation and he contradicted a statement. In both cases, it appears that victims were set up. We know from recently released documents that Flynn was. That is all I am saying regarding him.
Russia is and has tried to cause problems since WWII in America. Nothing new. We have all seen the open mike conversation between Obama and Russian ambassador (“more flexible after my election”…be sure to let Vladimer know). That sounds a little like collusion to me. But no one asked him to defend himself.
And we are not that far off from each other. I felt pretty much the same way about our last President as the “Fast and Furious” episode occurred soon after he took office. Both have told lies and I do not defend that from Trump or Obama (or Bush, or Bush, or Clinton).
My core belief is that to support the current Democrat Party is to support the destruction of America by devaluation of currency (hyper inflation – see Nancy P. – “I don’t care if we have to borrow money”), anti gun rights, anti free speech(attack on conservatives right to speak ), immoral (full term abortion), no country (borders are, in fact what makes a country and open borders destroys that),socialism (Bernie has dragged party to the far left), anti fourth amendment (see Flynn), anti Christian ( arrest those attending church in cars ??), intolerance of any whom you disagree (this site I have been insulted for stating my beliefs) support of illegals, disregard of fair voting rights (no ID ?? vote by mail) etc.I see election as a choice between two philosophies not people because that is what it is.
I have not insulted a soul for their criticism or disagreement with me. I have asked people on this site repeatedly to defend the Democrat Party beliefs to no avail (because it is indefensible). All most seem able to do is castigate Trump (who all seemed to love) until he entered politics as a Republican.! enjoy a discussion and exchange of opinion. I know I am not always right, but I notice most of you always are, at least in your own mind.
I had a problem copying the link into my comment. I hope I did it right this time. If I was not successful, will one of you find a NYTimes article on Mr. Priestap. He is the FBI official whose notes the DOJ lawyers are using to argue dropping the charges against Flynn. It appears that they misinterpreted his notes and conveniently forgot to tell the judge that they interviewed him. Priestap also said that when they questioned Flynn they would read back some of the transcripts from the recorded calls just to refresh his memory, but he would still lie. Go figure.
“Flynn admitted guilt because the son was threatened with prison.” Zoe, where did you get that from? I see that in all your comments you fail to mention Priestap. The DOJ used his handwritten notes to argue for the dismissal of the charges against Flynn. Priestap has now come out to say that the DOJ lawyers misinterpreted his notes. The NYT article also says that the DOJ lawyers conveniently forgot to tell the judge that they had interviewed him. Priestap also says that the FBI softened their interview with Flynn. They would often replay a portion of the recorded conversations just to help him refresh his memory. He would still lie.
Zoe, back in the late sixties, after Nixon had won the election, but had not taken office yet, he was asked by President Johnson about conversations his “incoming administration” was having with the government of South Vietnam. Nixon was pressuring South Vietnam to stay away from the peace talks until his administration takes office in January. So here is an incoming administration conducting foreign policy, before they take office. Nixon lied and said no such conversations had gone on. But, the conversations did take place. But, Johson could not tell Nixon so, because of how the info was gathered. The info was gathered by virtue of the fact that our government routinely taps the phones of the various embassies in our country. Calls between the Nixon people and the South Vietnamese were recorded. All this to say, this is a common practice. No laws are broken, no conspiracies. It is the duty of the FBI to report this info to the sitting administration. The administration doesn’t order it, it’s routine.
https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/04/explosive-revelations-in-the-flynn-case/
Cliff, I assume that you can read and understand something that is NOT on CNN or NYT. Clearly, Flynn’s son was threatened. Clearly he was framed. Clearly he was not even read his Miranda rights. A common shoplifter gets that benefit.
And FISA courts were not even in existence until 1973 per my understanding. And no, the FBI does NOT monitor U S Citizens as a matter of course (is illegal) though it does monitor foreign ambassadors etc. To monitor a U S citizen, FBI needs FISA approval. To get that approval, there must be compelling evidence. In this case, the evidence was a phony dossier paid for bu Hillary Clinton campaign (the author warned FBI that info was likely inaccurate), laundered payments through a Washington Law Firm. The FBI leaked the dossier to the NYT and used the article in NYT as prima facie evidence that something was amiss in Trump campaign. Do you think this is okay ?
I think the NYT has clearly demonstrated bias enough times to be discredited as a reliable news source.
Additionally, in this particular case, Sally Yates, acting A.G. stated that Mr Obama was indeed aware because he brought this up in a meeting and she was shocked that he had knowledge.
Zoe, let’s get real. Flynn’s conversations were intercepted by the FBI as he was talking to a foreign diplomat. His phone was not tapped. It was phone conversations he had with the Russian ambassador. A quote about these calls below:
“These calls were intercepted by routine US surveillance of foreign diplomats, and US officials leaked details to the press, a potentially illegal leak because the information is highly classified. Flynn misled his fellow Trump officials by saying sanctions hadn’t been discussed, and those officials repeated Flynn’s false denials on television.”
Another quote about these calls:
“Because the calls had been intercepted by US intelligence, the FBI and Justice Department knew that the public explanation from team Trump wasn’t true. Days after Trump took office, the FBI questioned Flynn about the calls, and he told four distinct lies, according to court filings.”
What I am trying to show you is that these taps are “routine”. Actually, he should have known that. He was conducting foreign policy. That’s a violation of the Logan Act. He lied, four distinct lies. As for Ms. Yates surprise. That’s a lie. Of course, the President was told. He is supposed to be told. Right, no FISA court was in place in the late 60s. However, our government was still listening to phones at the foreign embassies. Just as Johnson was briefed, Obama was briefed. Unless, I am wrong, you don’t need a FISA warrant to bug embassies.
So, let me get this correct. You lie to the FBI. You lie under oath in federal court. But, there was not sufficient evidence to investigate you, so the lies don’t count against you. Even though you were caught on tape talking to a foreign diplomat. Actually, conducting foreign policy as a presidential transition team member. And they actually played the tapes for you to refresh your memory. This is not a set up or frame. This is a chance to come clean.
My mistake. Flynn did not lie under oath. However, he did lie and pled guilty to violating a federal statute. Google Chuck Rosenberg. He is a former US Attorney. He wrote an article debunking Alan Derkowitz’s argument for dismissal. He cites the statute that Flynn pled to. The FBI did not make him lie. Flynn proponents argue that the FBI already knew the answer to the questions they asked Flynn. So what? One of the first things you learn in law school – don’t ever ask a question you don’t already know the answer to. Just because they already knew what the answer was, that didn’t not make him lie.
Cliff – more on this. https://rawconservativeopinions.com/2020/05/16/understanding-the-mueller-lies-about-michael-flynn/?fbclid=IwAR35GgUGkkN2rRzIRNyb59ERsz3Gs9Nw5ruBnf1hbviwVN5MRQfMeNcHOyY
You can doubt source but….keep watching. CNN is not telling you the entire story. Is my belief the hope is, Trump will be defeated and this will all go away.
Zoe, I am not getting my information from CNN. Anyway, I just read another reputable article about this matter. It goes contrary to the one posted by you. Therefore, what we have are different legal interpretations of what was said and done. And the only legal interpretation that counts is the judge’s. However, I do have a problem with a question asked by the person who wrote the article you posted. He asked who intercepted the calls between Flynn and the PTT. Nobody. The calls that were intercepted were between Flynn and the Russians. Which is routine surveillance.
