“You attacked George W. Bush for simply sending out a unifying message, to give Americans hope. He said positive things about Americans. He said positive things about health care workers. He said positive things about this country. He said, ‘We choose to rise.’ Even that offended you.
“Mr. President, I ask that you get checked out. I ask that you take a rest. I ask that you take care of yourself. Maybe let Mike Pence run things for the next week. You’re not well. Let Mike Pence work with Dr. Fauci, work with Dr. Birx.
“Mr. President, you’re getting worse every day. You need to take a rest. You need to let Mike Pence actually run things for the next couple of weeks. Come back when you’re feeling a little better and when you can really actually focus on your job. You just can’t do that right now.
“Americans are dying every day because of it.”
—Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough, Monday, May 4.
“Concast should open up a long overdue Florida Cold Case against Psycho Joe Scarborough. I know him and Crazy Mika well, used them beautifully in the last Election, dumped them nicely, and will state on the record that he is ‘nuts.’. Besides, bad ratings!”
—Totally predictable reaction by Donald Trump to any hint of criticism, Monday, May 4. [And, of course, everything to Trump is about ratings. That, apparently, is the sum total of his knowledge—and concern—about this county and its citizens. And yes, Trump does use people and dump them when they’re no longer of use to him: a classic character trait of the narcissistic personality.]
“They always said, Lincoln, nobody had got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse.”
—The arrogant, self-pitying, narcissistic s.o.b. Trump, in virtual “town hall” meeting Monday.
Oh Yes the great American patriot Bush-he who allowed his handlers to impose the invasion of Iraq-on false pretenses. Perhaps the worst decision in American foreign policy-ever. Trump is trying to rival it-but hopefully will fall short. Prior to his Nov 2020 ouster.
Hard to argue with you, J. Brown. Unless maybe LBJ’s Vietnam disaster might be thrown in for consideration (we lost far more personnel in ‘Nam than in the Iraqi war). But yes, Iraq was an unmitigated FUBAR that should never have happened. “Mission accomplished,” I believe were W’s infamous words, right up there with, “You’re doing a heckuva job, Brownie.”
I agree with Morning Joe.
I also agree with Morning Joe. However, Trump supporters listen to Fox News and other right-wing news sources and never hear criticism of Donald Trump, only consistent sympathy and praise. I occasionally listen to Fox News and they operate in Fantasyland.
Joe Scarborough was far too kind. “Take a rest?” trump needs to be removed. He is incapable of governing, has no empathy or compassion or concern for anyone who doesn’t have his last name, and continually spouts lies, mixed messages, divisive nastiness, self absorption to an astonishing degree, and just plain BS. He is not a leader, blames everyone else for his own misdeeds and “takes no responsibility” by his own admission. He simply needs to go and deserves no kind words or quarter from anyone.
and just BTW – these presidents were treated far worse than trump has been treated, by the media or otherwise: assassinated: Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy. Ronald Reagan was shot in an assassination attempt. Quite a number of presidents have been targeted for attempted assassination.
And when it comes to verbal abuse, no president in recent memory has had greater and nastier vitriol heaped on him than Barack Obama. Even at my advanced age, I do not personally remember these presidents, who were roundly criticized by citizens and media alike: Benjamin Harrison, Martin Van Buren, Chester Arthur, Franklin Pierce, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, who was impeached but not removed; the hated Warren G. Harding, who spent his time with his mistress or playing golf and poker, while his appointees enriched themselves at government expense (hmmm)
trump practically channels the detested Millard Fillmore, who polarized Congress, and touted conspiracy theories, strange political movements and ethnic hatred.
trump has an amazing and uncanny parallel with Herbert Hoover, was especially reviled for his inability to “recognize the severity of the situation or leverage the power of the federal government to squarely address it,” which led to the Great Depression, and he was “widely viewed as callous and insensitive toward the suffering of millions of desperate Americans.” (per the editors of History.com)
You are so right. He needs to go! Bet we could come up with quite a list of where we could send him.
I agree more with Mr. Aswell’s description of Trump than I do Scarborough’s advice. Trump does not need to take a rest. He needs to resign. Which he won’t do, of course, If he even thought about it for one second his ego would slap him so hard his entire body would go into severe convulsions.
Bush has done a fine job being an ex-president (he has kept his mouth shut most of the time). Much better than he did as president. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq in 2003 was the worst foreign-policy decision ever made by an American president. Let’s not forget that when he left office, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll at the time, his final approval rating was 22 percent (Cheney was at 13%). The view of the United States by the rest of the world was at a low point. The economy had tanked to the point that it is now referred to as the Great Recession.
And so now we have our current president, a man detested by the rest of the world and with dour and plunging approval ratings at home calling Bush “nuts.” Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? We have eight more months of Trump and my bet is he will surpass Bush’s low approval ratings.
By coincidence I just go an email from PBS that there will be a two part (two hours each) at 9:00 p.m. tonight and tomorrow night on “George W. Bush – American Experience.” Doubt if I will watch it. I lived through it…once was enough. But then again, memories get fuzzy and maybe it was worse than I remember.
Trump asked why “W” didn’t defend him during his Impeachment….perhaps it was because “W” digested the overwhelming evidence that Trump was indeed guilty….so, he just kept quiet. Defending a guilty Trump is a lot different than offering words of unity for Americans. This is proof positive that Trump only sees and hears “TRUMP!”
Yes, and he has lost whatever limited ability he had to cover it up.
$100 says it doesn’t end well for Morning Joe. You’d rather support treason than your President. You exemplify TDS. Get help.
Wait. You’re for shutting down Morning Joe? That’s censorship. You’re in favor of censorship, Bill? That’s a form of treason, Bill. Are you a traitor, Bill? You exemplify FOSS (Full of S**t Syndrome). Get help.
The First Amendment:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
The Constitution of the United States of America
Article III, Section 3
“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or adhering to their Enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.”
The language of both the First Amendment and Constitution is clear and unambiguous. Please explain how comments by “Morning” Joe Scarborough or anyone else constitute treason.
Earthmother…I agree that the word “treason” is thrown around to casually. However, I do worry about the “giving the enemy aid and comfort” thing with McConnell blocking the bills that would protect our elections from cyber interference. Why he is doing this has not been answered and is deeply troubling to me.
Bill, two questions: Did you exhibit that same level of devotion and loyalty to Obama when he was president? If not, wouldn’t that make you a traitor by your own distorted, misinformed, fanatical definition?
Treason? B.S. I have pledged allegiance to the flag and taken a military oath to defend my country but never to any president past or present. We owe allegiance to no man or woman. Get your priorities straight, you idiot. You aren’t brave enough to give your full name and address while accusing me of treason (for good reason).
This^^^!!! I get sick and tired of people online having their integrity questioned, and loyalty challenged because they don’t support the current denizen in office. The most patriotic thing a person can do in our government is to dissent. That voice of opposition is protected and is a key element of what sets us apart from other governments. These cowards only seem brave enough to make these “treason” claims from the relative safety of their keyboards. My allegiance to this country was never tied to anything as unreliable as a politician.
Edith, your concern about McConnell’s refusal to protect our elections also weighs heavy on me and many people. Looking at his behavior in the cold light of the constitutional phrase “giving aid and comfort to the enemy” brings it into sharp focus. Terrifying. We are running out of time to protect our country from the enemies within.
Edith, Like impeached trump, Moscow Mitch has repeatedly put Putin’s and Russia’s welfare ahead of ours. That is how he EARNED his nickname.
