“Thomas Ratliff’s presence on the State Board of Education is not legal because of his being a registered lobbyist.”
—Opinion by the Texas Attorney General’s Office on the legality of a Texas registered lobbyist’s serving on the State Board of Education. Louisiana lobbyist Steve Waguespack was appointed by Gov. Piyush Jindal on Friday to membership on the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education even though his law firm advertises on the web of its expertise in working with charter schools and school reform advocates. Louisiana has no such ethics laws prohibiting such appointments despite Jindal’s claim to having the most ethical administration in Louisiana history.

Jindal is a crook.
It’s time to recall Jindal.
Aaaghhemmmnnnnn Tried that. Not enough people were willing to get er done.
People, beware. jindal is deystroying Louisiana.
So what? The ethics commission here won’t act. It issued an opinion on the Roemers and now Chas is BESE president and …so what?
Go back and re-read the second-to-last paragraph of today’s post, Don, and you’ll see why your cynicism is 100% on target.
There is no stopping Piyush. He’s going to continue to do what he wants as often as he wants. However, Tom is doing us a great service by keeping us informed of this clown’s actions.
Why are you concerned with Texas law?
Let’s stick with Louisiana and forget Texas . . . . if we need to change our law, then let’s get it changed.
If the Governor’s action is legal, then it’s legal.
Sounds like you’re just anti Jindal.
You need to get positive!
Sounds to me like you are just all about bashing Jindal. That’s going nowhere! We can only have one Governor at a time, like him or not. Bashing is NOT positive. And, I can assure you if you knew me as others here in Terrytown and Jefferson Parish know me you’d know I’m about as far from a “Rose Colored Glasses” guy as you can get. Everyone knows the Governor as “Bobby” and I don’t get the whole idea of your slamming his use of “Bobby” as his name . . . . it’s like you’re slandering him for it. Certainly, there are more productive things to do than that and all the negativism I getting from this. Give us some real proposals for us here in Louisiana and forget the other states. We need to do what’s best for Louisiana.
