“Don’t worry, I’ll recall the bill.”
–Sen. Mike Walsworth (R-West Monroe), to Kristy Nichols, Gov. Piyush Jindal’s Deputy chief of Staff, after Senate Bill 47, which would change the computation of retirement benefits from three to five years, failed by one vote to get the necessary 20 votes.
“Wahh, wahh, my machine malfunction! Wahh, wahh, I was pounding on my computer during the vote. Can I have a do-over?”
–Sen. Mike Walsworth (R-West Monroe) to the Senate President following the failure of SB 47. The bill passed on the second vote.

Governor Piyush just keeps moving with his brand of transparency and ethics in state goverment. The governor and his cohorts keep marching in step with the American Legislative Exchange Council coporate supporters. Their goal is to diminish, degrade and destroy public servants thus paving the way to privatize everything in state governorment. Beware, taxes will go up to satisfy the greedy private CEOs. Louisiana citiizens need to wake up to what is happening. Too many of our legislators have been bought and too many of the others are simply duped. There are some great legislators standing up for what is fair and decent. Citizens must avoid being duped now and in the days ahead.
Not in the history of Louisiana have outside sources made such an impact on the governor and legislators to promote their agenda for control and money. It is not about good government or the benefit of our students that this is taking place.
That’s why he was traveling around the country. He was taking their money and making promises that would depend upon the apathy of Louisiana’s citizens. Boy, was he pleasantly surprised.
Wake up folks. Not only did they just disregard the Constitution by passing this bill with a sham vote, but they openly laughed and joked about it. Don’t they realize they are being taped. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing take place. This WAS my Louisiana, I’m not so sure I’m so proud any more or want to even be a part of this mess.
Statesman, you hit the nail on the head. I was born and raised here in LA. I love this state and have never wanted to live anywhere else. My ancestors have fought and defended this state in every war that took place on this soil since the 1700s. I come from a long, long line of public servants. Now I am watching my pride and heritage erode into a most despicable state. The pelican is in mourning for her young.
