If further evidence that Sen. John “Kornpone” Kennedy is a total embarrassment to this state, a buffoon, and a total ass, we got it this past week with his over-the-top questioning of MAYA BERRY, director of the Arab American Institute.
Not that this damn fool didn’t try earlier to establish himself as an unrepentant bigot when he called Pres. Biden’s nominee for bank regulator Saule Omarova a communist. It was pure McCarthyism at its worst and nothing more than cheap grandstanding.
Together, they represent the worst “if-you-ain’t-like-me-you-must-be-a-subversive,” most racist, most misogynist, most venomous rants I’ve ever been embarrassed to hear from any elected official since….well, since Joe McCarthy. He’s already gone after women with mouth a-blazing. Who’s next on his hit list, Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans?
Perhaps “Kornpone” and “Foghorn Leghorn” are misnomers for him. A better name, judging from his facial expression in this photo, should be “Goofy.”
Those who choose to remember may recall that once upon a time Kennedy was a liberal Democrat. That was back when he endorsed John Kerry over George W. Bush in 2004. He even tried but couldn’t get himself elected to the Senate first as a Democrat in 2004 and as a Repugnantcan in 2008. But, reading the blood-red handwriting the Louisiana wall in 2016, the third time was the charm.
He latched onto Donald Trump’s coattails, declared he’d rather drink weed killer than sacrifice his “principles,” he ran as a converted conservative Republican and got himself elected. Wasn’t it Reagan himself, the “great communicator,” who said there virtually no difference between prostitution and politics? And boy, does Kennedy ever bear that out in spades.

This has been sad to watch. What a waste of a good mind and someone I thought was basically a good man. Is he showing signs of dementia? I just don’t understand what is going on with him. He has totally debased himself.
Damn you John Kennedy. Damn you. You who has sold his soul. You with a heart of hate and thirst for cheap political capital. How dare you impugn the character and loyalty of a brave immigrant that has and continues to risk her personal safety to serve and has gallantly served to protect and enhance the United States, her adopted homeland. John Kennedy was raised in Zachary, LA. We have lived in that small city for four decades and are very familiar with the culture. I find it hard to believe that Kennedy’s parents raised him to be so hateful and disrespectful, in public, especially to women. After Kennedy’s abominable behavior, his mama would have a hard time holding her head up in her church ladies group. After obtaining a world class education, being exposed to the highest echelons of government, and being a pillar of his Methodist church – the social justice people who believe in the value of all people – one would think Kennedy would remember that good southern manners never go out of style and can carry one a long way. Funny how trump’s malign influence can wipe out a lifetime of decency. His mama would not be pleased.
Kennedy’s ONLY accomplishment in the Senate is championing the National Flood Insurance Program, which regulates the market and provdes subsidies for homeowners who can’t afford insurance. That’s the exact same principle behind Obamacare which Kennedy said he’d rather drink weed killer than support. I would bet there isn’t even ten Louisiana “Republican” voters who are aware of that hypocrisy and zero Louisiana “Republican” voters who care. And that is the problem in America today in microcosm – men and women with no principles, talking out of both sides of their mouth to voters who can’t make that distinction and wouldn’t care anyway.
