Did physical therapist Philippe Veeters have a guardian angel watching over him, protecting him from an aggressive investigation by Baton Rouge authorities after he was accused of inappropriate touching of female patients and inappropriate comments about their bodies?
Veeters, you may recall from LouisianaVoice’s story last month, was first arrested last February on the basis of complaints from several female patients but the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s office didn’t get around to submitted a bill of information against him until Nov. 1.

Veeters, it turns out, besides operating his own facility, Dutch Physical Therapy, also has an affiliation with The Spine Diagnostic Promotional, LLC.
Louisiana Secretary of State corporate records indicate that The Spine Diagnostic Promotional has two officers—Veeters and Dr. J. Michael Burdine.
The association with Burdine is significant in that until recently, Burdine was President of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
To be clear, the State Board of Medical Examiners has no direct authority over physical therapists who are licensed and regulated by the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board.
But both the State Board of Medical Examiners and the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board operate under the umbrella of the Louisiana Department of Health. That, and the business relationship between Veeters and Burdine creates at least a perception by one woman who has complained about Veeters of too much coziness between the two boards.
The two boards even shared a common legal counsel until attorney George Papale was TERMINATED by the physical therapy board following complaints about the board’s handling of….sexual misconduct cases involving physical therapists.

J Michael Burdine, MD – President
Dr. Burdine grew up in Lafayette, LA attending high school at Acadiana High and received his bachelor of science at LSU in Baton Rouge. He attended medical school at LSU New Orleans graduating in 1983. He completed his internship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and after, worked emergency medicine for four years in the Acadiana area. He attended the University of Arkansas in Little Rock studying Anesthesiology and moved to the University of Cincinnati to complete his fellowship in Pain Management. He worked in Oklahoma City providing outpatient regional anesthesia and pain management for eleven years before returning to Baton Rouge in 2002 to practice pain management exclusively.
Since returning to Baton Rouge Dr. Burdine has been an active member in the Louisiana State Medical Society, the President of the Capitol Area Medical Society, and the President of the Louisiana Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He was an Executive Board Member of the Arthritis Association of Louisiana and was its volunteer of the year in 2006. He serves on the Louisiana Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee; is an Executive Board Member of the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists; and the LSIPP Delegate to the Calcasieu Prescription Drug Task Force.
In 2008 he was voted Medtronic’s Patient Access Advocacy Hero and has twice been a CRC of America Top 100 Physicians in Pain Management.
Dr. Burdine is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds added Certification in Pain Management in 1996 and 2006 by the ABMS. He is a member of multiple National and State wide physician organizations. He is currently in full time private practice at the Spine Diagnostic and Pain Treatment Center of which he is the founder in Baton Rouge, LA.

Respectfully, this article is filled with lies and defamatory statements. The “admission on tape” is 100% false, and the continuously referenced “signed admission” is completely taken out of context. He refused to admit he sexually battered ANYONE which is why he refused to sign a plea that stated anything sexual. In fact, his plea deal was for “Second degree battery, which is a battery when the offender intentionally inflicts serious bodily injury; however, this provision shall not apply to a medical provider who has obtained the consent of a patient.” To clarify, Laurie Lassalle Jennings who is the woman this article is referring to, while treating her, he asked for consent every single time, to which she gave consent to all except, from my understanding, the last time in which she just shrugged her shoulders, but of course she lied about that too and slandered the facts of the incident.
Laurie Lassalle Jennings is a mentally disturbed sadist, determined to cause harm on others, while always playing the victim. She previously accused an 8-year-old of sexually assaulting one of her children for context. She continuously harassed the PT Board, FBI, news outlets, the DA, police, her connections through attorneys and government officials, and the defendant’s attorney all to make someone who tried to help her get better, suffer. I honestly feel sorry for the woman because she must have severe mental problems, and it’s clear that no one in her life could give her the attention she needed. The lengths she went through to falsely accuse a medical professional who was using a widely-known technique, hence why she went back to the police repeatedly changing her story from the modality, to “near her private area”, to eventually penetration/rape because the police initially told her that the incident did not constitute sexual assault. Further, SHE was improperly dressed for the evaluation, wearing a sundress to which he advised her she could not do her session in that attire and she demanded she needed to be seen and communicated she didn’t care she was dressed inappropriately. It’s apparent she likely struggles with narcissism, a victim complex, and pathological lying.
It wasn’t until she used her connections with Edwin Edwards, governor at the time, forcing him to intervene. The reason the media picked it up is because not only did she continuously harass them but also told them lies that he “raped her” which is a complete fabrication, destructive accusation, and defamatory.
I personally have been sexually assaulted and the reason I’ve dealt with it personally was due to women like her weaponizing the legal system, creating skepticism and doubt that makes it harder for genuine survivors to seek justice. False accusations don’t just harm the accused; they undermine the credibility of real victims – to which she clearly cares more about receiving a payout than protecting other women. It’s truly disappointing to because this woman just wanted money… she coerced and solicited other woman to come forward – creating a group chat where they shared information – which is highly illegal, so I sincerely hope she gets held accountable for insufferable, unforgiving, inexcusable behavior.
In one article quoting the defamatory Laurie Lassalle Jennings, she was quoted to say, “The criminal justice system is sickening for victims where the defendant has money” and “It’s so horrible he can travel all over the last few years with no restrictions.” If it wasn’t already apparent she was only in this for money, the aforementioned is additional proof. To make matters worse she stalked my best-friend, the daughter of the accused – harming her further in addition to the years of trauma Laurie Jennings has already caused her. Again, showing she is relentless and vicious. Not only did she do this to get inside information on their family but also to harass and torture them even further. She then presented the daughter’s social media to the judge, emphasizing how unacceptable it was that he went 4 hours out of Baton Rouge. Using his daughter as propaganda to further her case and get the result she wanted is telling of her vile, disgusting, inhumane, and fetid character. In addition, she shared the daughter’s social media accounts and personal information in the group message with all the other woman she coerced into filing lawsuits.
I doubt this woman is at peace now because to be frank, I don’t think she will ever be. I do hope she is getting the critical help she needs and that her children are properly cared for and raised to be the opposite of their mother. We don’t need more women like this in the world.
