Brilliant! It’s about time someone called out Piyush on that tall tale. Over here in the Real World we’ve been wondering why no one asked him about his early religious training after that statement about his dad’s reverence for “God Almighty.” As in, was he teaching you about Vishnu?
To be fair, the Hindu/Vedic tradition does allow for a very small amount of time in the prostrate position, mostly a fleeting moment to kneel and touch the forehead to the ground while worshipping one of the pantheon of gods such as Brahma or Vishnu, unlike other major faiths, such as CHRISTIANITY, where much more time is spent on the knees. One area where piyush seems to have failed to absorb traditional Hindu (and Christian) teaching is reverence for all living things, especially caring for the poor (humans) and less fortunate. Traditional Hindus (and Christians) are compassionate people. Missed that lesson, piyush.
P.S. – does anyone know if piyush has an aversion to eating steak? Just curious.
I actually watched Jindal’s speech at CPAC and he actually said what the cartoonist has him saying and when he did I wondered exactly what the cartoonist has Brian Williams asking. This cartoon is the first thing I have seen since that points out this discrepancy – and with humor. Great work by our mystery cartoonist.
In the past, Piyush attributed his conversion to Christianity to a high school friend who invited him to visit the Catholic Church.. In a visit to a college in Lake Charles, I heard him say the part about his father saying he was born in the greatest nation in the world, but he never said the part about “getting on his knees” to “thank God Almighty.”
If he is so in tuned with religion and claims that by becoming a Catholic he is a Christian then he should very well know that part of our commitment to God as Catholics is to make sure that our children do get a Catholic education by attending Catholic schools. So I ask: Where do his children go to school? If he is so soncerned about Cuba and human rights: I ask: what human rights do women have in India, because if your answer is that you were born here I will counter by telling you that according to my religion and yours life starts at conception and that Piyush happened in India. If you are so concerned about immigration I ask you: What about the influx from India? You may fool the nation but we have had enough of you road Scholar!!
This conversion thing can be confusing when you are young. One of Jindal’s first trips to Leesville Baptist Church (on a tax paid Helicopter) where he said he saw an evangelist on tv that persuaded him and just last year in IOWA he lied to a group saying he lied to his mother about going out to a party and sneaked off to church. Praise the Lord! Even Iowans are not that ignorant. ron thompson
