The Division of Administration (DOA), apparently unhappy with frequent posts here that have exposed some of the questionable tactics of the Jindal administration, have attempted to block state computer access to LouisianaVoice.
Never mind eBay.com, amazon.com, Drudge Report, solitaire games, news sites, and all those other internet pages that employees access on a regular basis. Just don’t dare read anything on louisianavoice.com because it doesn’t parrot the Jindal administration party line.
Only one problem with the blocking strategy: it won’t stop those who want to find out what’s really going on in state government.
Louisianavoice.com, after all, is the place to go to read about state government waste of hundreds of millions of dollars—while the administration poor-mouths about deficits and revenue shortfalls.
It’s the place to go to read about just about anything the administration would rather you didn’t know.
But wait. As long as you have a free subscription to louisianavoice.com, they can block access to the blog all they want but it won’t block your access to our posts.
Whenever a new story is posted, subscribers automatically receive an email that contains the complete text of the post.
So all you have to do is access your home email account to access our posts.
Gee, that’s almost too easy.
They wouldn’t block access to your home email accounts, would they?
Don’t bet on it.
These guys just don’t tolerate dissent.

Good for you.
Jindal is the worst sort of fascist. I hope Louisianans wake up and give him the boot. Why not recall?
Anyone who could look at him in that embarrassing rebuttal a few years ago and NOT see mendacious, craven ambition needs to have their eyes checked.
Keep up the good fight!
You’re right, Jenny. He reminds me in many ways of the kind of person who would break down your door in the middle of the night, slap a hood over your head and drive you to some undisclosed location.
Fear is a funny thing. It prompts different actions in different people. OGB employees are afraid; what happened to Tommy Teague was the most ridiculous action I’ve seen from a so-called leader in a number of years. Even so, employees are now waiting for the other jackboot to fall.
I wish we could somehow get word out to the average non-state employee citizen that we are not evil. We, the vast majority of us, love our jobs, we’re good at them, and we take seriously our mission to serve proudly the people of this state. Oh, and while the word is getting out don’t forget this one – the governor is a coward and a liar. I know any number of people who would debate him on the issues if he weren’t afraid of the truth, and his lies, coming out.
Only in Louisiana would those of the ‘publican persuasion possibly consider Piyushi be considered “conservative.”
The boy wonder has never drawn anything except a public treasury paycheck except for a few brief months in his first job following college…from the international consulting firm McKinsey & Company. But he didn’t even last the six months probationary period before the company decided he wasn’t worth their money.
Since, he’s been alternatly on first the state, then federal, then state, then federal and now state payrolls and except for his verbal BS, has never been a success in any of his jobs.
Oh well, even Louisiana’s lightly educated will eventually catch on when it is their momma he ships back to them from her nursing home.
Governor Jindal
Please help. The governor and his administration are trying to fix their mismanaging of the state budget by taking away our hard earned benefits. Mr. Rainwater, DOA, and Governor Jindal are trying to fix their budget deficit by taking over the Office of Group Benefits PPO, which under Tommy Teague had a $510 million deficit. It is probably the only state agency that has accounted for every dime. OGB is self-insured and ran by 300 state employees for the last 30+ years. Our medical claims are paid within 2 to 3 days of OGB receiving them, OGB administrative cost is only 3.2% which means for every dollar we pay in premiums, they keep less than 4 cents to pay salaries and expenses; and the rest goes back to plan members’ health benefits. OGB has 22,000 + retirees that will never be eligible for Medicare or social security. Therefore, if we loose our benefits to private sector, who are out to make a profit (unlike OGB); these retirees would NEVER be able to afford their premium.
The scary part is the Governor and his administration is trying to sneak this by active and retired state employees apparently in the hope of not getting any opposition. It scares me that this is an election year and a $500 million surplus is very attractive to people that contribute to the governor’s race. Tommy Teague, the old CEO who is responsible for this surplus was fired for not doing what the Governor’s administration told him to do. That was to not let anyone know what the ADMINISTRATION (DOA) was trying to do by selling OGB’s and its PPO plan. Please help us get this info out to state agencies, political subdivisions, courts, the legislature and some school boards. And also so that the retirees sitting home can see what the Governor is trying to do. Please help this is serious and will only cause the 22,000 plus retirees without medicare benefits to be added to the uninsured in America. Please contact your legislatures to stop this from happening before its too late.
go to Louisianavoice.com and you will see what he is doing. The comments under the newspaper articles will add more insight. Thank you. Please do not disregard this. I will be happy to do whatever it takes to get this out there. Thank you.
This is what I sent to newspapers, tv news rooms and medical providers. WE LIVE IN AMERICA HOW DARE THEY STOP STATE EMPLOYEES FROM FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!! That’s how bad he wants this OGB due to that surplus. WE HAVE TO CONTINUE AND STOP THEM!!!!
I’m so sorry; the Governor and his administration are so confusing that it made me make a HUGE ERROR. IN THE ABOVE ITS A $510 SURPLUS not deficit. I am so very sorry. I’ve just been typing for weeks now trying to stop them. So in my May 10th 2011 at 10:30 pm I made a big mistake it is a SURPLUS not deficit. I am again so sorry!!!!!
