“Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA—NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!
–Donald Trump tweet, Jan. 11, 2017. [He sometimes shouts in his tweets.]
“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.”
–Donald Trump, Jr., 2008.
“We don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.”
–Eric Trump, 2014.
[Reuters News Service said 20 units in Trump Towers I, II, and III were purchased by individuals with Russian passports or addresses. Buyers with Russian passports or addresses also purchased 16 units in Trump Palace, 27 units in Trump Royale, and 13 units in Trump Hollywood. Russian fertilizer magnate Dmitry Rybolovlev in 2008 bought of one of Trump’s mansions in Palm Beach for $53 million more than Trump had paid for it four years earlier. Russian buyers have also brought links to Russian organized crime. In 1984, Russian David Bogatin, who was tied to Russian mob boss Semion Mogilevich, bought five condos in Trump Tower for a total of $6 million. Three years later, Bogatin pleaded guilty to evading millions of dollars in state fuel taxes in what officials called one of the largest gasoline bootlegging operations in the nation.]
I’m sure zoe10870, fairness2014, outlaw53, Tim Gunn and other people who believe Mr. Trump is a good person and an even better president can provide us with a logical explanation for this (without attacking anybody else or using their actions as an excuse for Mr. Trump’s behavior).
In the meantime, we will listen to the crickets chirp.
So your solution is to listen to the crickets chirp. Sounds good to me. I’m all in. Thanks for the advice.
No, I was saying I do not expect answers meeting my criteria and the crickets chirping reference is an old saying about what happens when you ask a question and there is no answer, just silence in which you can hear the crickets chirping.
Having attempted stand-up comedy for 15 years, I thought everybody knew what it meant to hear “crickets chirp.” It’s a sound I came to know all too well.
And, after I posted my response I realized Ronald may have known as well and that his response was more nuanced than I initially thought. If so, Ronald, my apologies.
I’m sure what the president meant was that he personally had not made deals with the government of Russia. However, a company that he owns part of may have done business with individuals that have Russian passports. Those are completely different things.🙄
I find it interesting how people (who seemed to be successful prior to joining Trump) can be publicly thrown out like the garbage by Trump and yet there are still people willing to take a chance on “serving” in the White House or administration because Trump selected him/her. I guess they figure they’ll have source material for a book. At this point, though, who would read it? Anyone in love with dear leader will not buy a book that will inevitably disparage him if it is truthful at all and anyone that already gets that he is less than ethical/honest/competent, etc. will not care to pay to read more about how dishonest/untruthful/incompetent he is.
For a long time I have thought that when his tax returns and financial records were revealed we would finally get the full picture of his illicit dealings and why he wants to protect the Russians to the extent he does. Now, I still believe we will get the full picture, but I have come to realize that whether it uncovers illicit or criminal activity, nothing may come of it. His supporters will overlook it, the Senate will do nothing, and the DOJ will not investigate. But at some point further down the road, POTUS, perhaps when he is no longer POTUS, will eventually be brought to justice.
Gangster talk to Comey: are you loyal to Me? Remember our own Senator Kennedy went to Russia shortly after Trump was sworn in “to get to the bottom of this Russia thing” How can we get the real purpose of that meeting?? Kennedy recently admitted the Russians have “sophisticated” methods of interfering with elections! I have the full picture now. The GOP, through the big money are joined at the hip with Putin and his oligarchs, and Trump and the precious Christians are perfect stooges. This is nothing new, and our intelligence agencies are not fooled. I suppose we should be glad our entire Republican delegation are very comfortable and 100% behind Trump. They are moral cowards thus incapable of admitting any culpability in destroying our Republic or selling our souls. thanks we we we will be alright. love always ron thompson
