“The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware, and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do. And at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory.”
—Donald Trump, in a July 4, 2019 speech, somehow confusing the War for Independence with the War of 1812, with a dash of superior air power. (rammed the ramparts? What does that even mean?)
That’s just like Paul Revere if he would have taken The “red eye” out of Logan he could have gotten there quicker and warned them the
Maroon trenchcoats we’re coming and the could have found out what gate and terminal they were arriving at and jumped them with the element of surprise. Or the tower could have diverted them to Atlanta and then they could have got with Generals MacArthur and Patton
And reconnoiter and made a new strategy With President Bush 43 and Secretary of State Madeline not Albright and Zibignew Brezenski
as to what would Colonel Potter do given the same set of circumstances!
Yes, when I first read this I thought, “Wow!!! How did we lose that technology and when did we regain it?” I’m lying. I drew the same conclusion I have drawn from all his rambling, incoherent streams of consciousness.
And, we are watching our duly elected Republican “public servants” closing ranks to aid and abet and make sure that this dysfunctional, old, White man solidifies his power…am I wrong?
You are right, but let us pray that some of them have the courage and the wisdom to vote guilty and removal from office.
Donald Trump’s base supporters are like a cult. He could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue, and they would still support him. He said so himself.
And now the Republicans are complaining, in the impeachment trial, about the very thing they do every time somebody sticks a microphone in their faces – repetition. I heard Senator Kornpone quoted, as a counterpoint to this, saying he has learned a lot from the trial so far. If that is true, Senator, you have not been paying attention to anything up to now – an indictment of your attention to important details as well as your blind allegiance to your party and its leader for purely political reasons based on your reading of poll data and to the exclusion of what is best for the United States of America.
I suppose if I was a Senator and destitute and badly needed the money I would vote to find him not guilty and removal from office. But none of these Senators are in need of money. But if I were in their shoes, I would have to ask myself this question: Do I want to try and retain my seat by voting not guilty or do I want to go down in history as someone who lost his election but voted guilty and sentenced him to removal from office in support of the Constitution and what is right for the good of the country. Not for the good of Midnight Mitch or Donald J. Trump, but for the good of the American people and the Republic in which we live.
Stephen you right about blind. I think God cross up all of you peoples eye nerves and ass nerves. Because all of you sure have a shitty out look on life.
Once again James Sidbury, the aspiring stand up comic, attempts to be funny with trite, worn-out jokes that Henny Youngman passed on as passé. Mr. Sidbury, not only are you not at all funny or clever, your grammar and spelling are embarrassing….to you. (And for the record, it would be optic nerves and sphincter nerves. And outlook is one word, not two. People’s would be with an apostrophe; you concocted some hybrid plural of a word already plural.)
But, hey. Keep ’em coming because you’re certainly entertaining. (But you would probably prefer “your certainly entertaining.”)
And Zoe, before you shame me for making fun of Mr. Sidbury, my position is if he can’t communicate intelligibly, he shouldn’t put it out there for all to see.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, it appears to me that the Democrats have “closed ranks” to file impeachment charges, failed to prove their case, and are now asking Senate, which is charged with the duty of judging said case. There are nothing but vague charges certainly not the “extortion” and “bribery” we were promised.
I find it interesting, and very telling, that all of you overlook Vice-President Joe Biden, who bragged on video of what Trump is being accused of (although call transcript does not reflect that), got a prosecutor fired, withheld a BILLION DOLLARS, was acting under authority of President Obama and with explicit approval to act. Biden family has made MILLIONS personally (son, brothers etc) and not a single one you has the slightest concern about his corruption. You support a party that PENALIZES American taxpayers for not buying health care plans but to a person, every democrat candidate says they would give ILLEGALS free health care. What does it take to make you guys see the insanity ? And I am the one drinking the “Kool Aid”. Right.
Well, we all know Trump will not be removed from office, nor should he be as he has committed no crime (if you think so, show me the law). He will not lose election to any of the feeble candidates the Democrat Party has put forth (I notice none of you mention whom you support), and you get to gripe for 5 more years..
I resent being accused of being in a “cult” simply because I support a persons policies.
Joyce, you should listen to the entire statement and not just take a sentence out of context. CJG, you would vote to remove a man from office but you have no issue with a corrupt politician like Biden, or an Obama who would misuse the IRS and Intelligence community for political gain ? Very telling. Edith – dysfunctional old white man ?? Really ? “Solidifies his power ? He already is President. What power is he gaining ?
Zoe, I have to say again that you and I are experiencing separate realities.
And Mr. Zoe and I certainly have disparate realities…
I see. You have no issues with the Bidens ? You have no issue with the DOJ spying illegally on American citizens ? You have no issues with misuse of the IRS ? You have no issues with illegals pouring into country, literally by the millions and who leech off benefits provided for citizens?
You are more concerned that Trump is inept at public speaking.
And my realities are askew ? WOW !!
From what I’ve been reading, I get the impression that Zoe is mistaking criticism of Trump for unconditional support for everything Obama, Hilary and Bill Clinton and Joe Biden. It’s not. No one here has offered any sweeping endorsement of either of those. But Trump is the current occupant of the White House and therefore is now the one under the microscope. I’ve been reading this blog for some time now and I’ve seen plenty of criticism of the Clintons and Obama, though not so much Biden. But that’s probably because he’s never been president. Trump, on the other hand, has given us three full years of unmitigated embarrassment from his personal behavior, 15,000 or so documented lies (don’t, Zoe, don’t even; Bill and Hilary and Obama combined didn’t approach that number in 16 years, so just don’t), and his constant, constant utterances, reversals, orders, reversals, tweets, reversals. He is a buffoon and there’s no way around that. He has utterly and completely debased the office of President, alienated critical allies, all but fondled Putin, Kim Jung Un and other despots, insulted our military leaders (justly or not, it was a mistake to call them idiots to their faces) and our intelligence agencies.
So, no, Zoe, criticism of Trump does not mean anyone is condoling any wrongdoing by past presidents; it simply means we are in the moment and the moment is Trump, not Obama, not Bill Clinton, not Hilary, not Joe Biden. Nor are critiques of Trump necessarily support for Bernie, Warren, or any other candidate. It is just that: a critique of Trump and boy, has he earned it!
Well said, Angelo. The fact we have to continue repeating what you have eloquently said over and over and over and over…proves dialog is not actually occurring. There is no defense for President Trump’s actions. I expect this to become evident when the Republicans put theirs on beginning today and it will be interesting to see if Schiff’s and others’ predictions will hold true – Attacking the accusers on grounds not actually related to the articles and otherwise distracting from the actual charges in them.
Schiff’s closure last night was, even more than his previous legal arguments during the trial, masterful. It is shameful it fell on deaf Republican ears for the same reason we can’t dialog with Zoe. Where is the fairness in that? I realize impeachment is not a civil or criminal trial and that even people entitled to a fair trial don’t always get one, but couldn’t we at least expect some modicum of decency to prevail in this impeachment trial?
One last comment for me today…yes I would have issues if any of what you said were true. With all due respect.
