Liberals believe in freedom. That’s why we are called liberal. Libertas = Freedom. Central to that belief is the necessity of debating ideas knowing that NONE of us has the whole TRUTH. Liberals have never preached tolerance; it is the basis of existence. We practice tolerance. “What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” That is the liberal mantra. We use our five senses to moderate any ideology.

Chacun a son gout! To each his own. I may not believe as he believes, but I will fight to the death to protect his right to believe it.

  James, we should have a like button. I really appreciate your comments. I often fail to find words to describe what it means to be liberal in a way that makes sense to conservatives. I’ll try yours next time if you don’t mind.

He was not tolerant of my comments before the Governor’s Streamlining Commission. I think my comment of, “How much more can you cut before the entire state of Louisiana bleeds to death?” pissed him off. I was fired the next day. It took me nine months to get my job back, but I did…. with back pay. I retired from state service on October 29, 2013 because I was diagnosed with ALS. If it takes my last breath, I will campaign against Jindal if he runs for ANYTHING!!!!

Pitiful. I guess he monitors left-leaning blogs for discussions about conservative group-think, then he sticks his tongue out and says “I know you are but what am I?” Did anyone ask him “tolerance of what exactly”? Tolerance of intolerance? No, thank you.

Charles Pierce has an excellent piece on lil booby’s speech at the Ronnie Raygun library which ends with this:

Again, “Bobby” is saying all this in a well-publicized speech — for which, I presume, he got himself a nice check — and it was a speech in which he was attempting to launch himself as a plausible candidate for president of the United States despite his obvious incompetence as a political executive. And the speech was about how oppressed and marginalized he feels. I try not to mock religion. But I have every intention of hanging up religious victimhood like the stuff “Bobby” is peddling and laugh my head off at it until it retreats in shame back under the rock where it belongs.
