“I couldn’t help noticing that no one seemed overly concerned about whether or not Gov. Jindal stated to this committee if he was on annual or sick leave.”
–State Rep. John Bel Edwards (D-Amite), following testimony before the House Education Committee by Gov. Jindal only moments after committee member Nancy Landry (R-Lafayette) got approval by a 10-8 vote of her motion invoke a new rule requiring witnesses (read: teachers) testifying before the committee to say if they were on annual or sick leave from their jobs.

Liking John bel more every day. It is ludicrous that these games are being played by the administration. Those rose colored glasses are starting to come away from people now. Shame it’s AFTER the election. Which was no doubt his plan after all.
Good morning. I wonder if it ever occurred to Jindal and his backers that the State of Louisiana owns ALL public schools. This includes the award winning academic schools who received performance grades of A or B. Why can’t the failing schools adopt the curriculums of these schools. It would not cost the state anything. Then each award winning school’s teachers could mentor ones in the failing schools until ALL are equal with passing grades….simple
Because that would actually constitute a reform, but would not shift taxpayer money to his corporate backers. How throwing out a few life preservers into the water as the ship sinks constitutes “saving the ship” I do not know.
If one school is deemed “failing,” aren’t all the schools in its cluster also considered “failing.” Kind of like “no child left behind” becomes “no school left behind.” They all get closed.
