Voters of Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District: you have a choice–and a say–in who will represent your best interests

I have found myself wondering on several occasions why no one has chosen to run against Mike Johnson who masquerades as a Christian while willingly betraying every known principle of Christianity with his pathetic tenure as House Speaker.

Today, I am happy to announce that someone has stepped forward to challenge Johnson, who is little more than an extension of Donald Trump.

I am fully aware that Louisiana is a deep red state but that is only because of Democrats’ failure to turn out in sufficient numbers to make their voices heard and their needs felt.

Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature reconfigured the state’s congressional districts, absorbing Lincoln, Jackson, Winn and part of Rapides Parish from the 5th District to the new 4th, hoping by making it the most solidly red district, they would protect Johnson. That is reflected in the 68.4 percent white and 20.1 percent black makeup of the district and should bode well for Johnson.

But his weak leadership and partisan politics could yet be his achilles heel. Ethnicity notwithstanding, the state is still fairly balanced in party registration with Democrats holding a slight edge in numbers.

If disillusioned Republicans (and they do exist), and both white and black Democrats can lay aside any differences they may have long enough to realize we all share a common need for health care, jobs, affordable housing and food, the results could be astounding.

The list of MAGA Republicans’ unfulfilled promises grows every day. The gold-covered scam is happening right before our eyes.

Gas costs at least $4.00/gallon because of the war in Iran. Our grocery shelves are empty as recall after recall from parasites and dangerous bacteria thanks to RFK Jr’s regulatory nightmares. Data centers and cuts to clean energy tax programs have raised our energy costs and are damaging our environment.

MAGA Republicans like Mike Johnson campaigned on the promise to make life easier for working people, but instead have done the exact opposite. When it comes to Trump’s reckless spending on golden monuments, reflecting pool makeovers, and the Iran War, they’re happy to deliver.

During a time when Americans can’t afford food, healthcare, groceries, or gas, we’re living through Trump’s golden age. For us? We’re living through MAGA Republicans’ golden hoax.

While my neighbors are struggling to put food on their table, Mike Johnson is standing by as Trump puts a fake golden sheen on our economy.

When millions of Americans lost healthcare coverage, the Big Ugly Bill gave billions to rebuilding the border wall.

When Trump’s petty tariffs raised the cost of everything from new Nikes to lunchboxes, billion-dollar corporations got their money back, not the people who paid them.

When gas prices hit a record high because of the Iran War, Mike Johnson wants to give Trump billions more to keep the unconstitutional conflict going.

MAGA Republicans have no problem coughing up the cash for Trump, but when it comes to you and me, they slam the door shut.

It doesn’t matter how many statues they cover in gold. This is all one big golden hoax that MAGA Republicans will continue until we stop them.

I’m Conrad Cable. I’m a proud Democrat and a Louisiana farmer. I know what it’s like to lose health insurance and barely fill up my gas tank. MAGA Mike Johnson doesn’t.

Louisiana’s 4th deserves someone who understands the value of the dollar — not someone who gives Donald Trump a pot of gold while we pay the price.
