The Lord does indeed work in mysterious ways.
KENNETH COPELAND, who lives in a $7 million mansion and is worth something north of $760 million goes begging for love offerings so he can purchase a new private jet.
ORAL ROBERTS got quite a bit of publicity back in 1987 when he said the Lord was going to call him home (or was it call him at home?) if he didn’t raise $8 million for medical missions.
Joel Osteen is unquestionably one of the most prolific PROSPERIY PREACHERS, convincing followers to empty their wallets in exchange for the promise of future riches.
Robert Tilton was infamous for trashing prayer request letters—after he first removed the love offering checks. But he inadvertently became more famous for inspiring a montage of PARODY VIDEOS that bore testimony to his true talent.
So, with all those fundraising schemes floating around, perhaps Baton Rouge’s Tony Snell was facing something of a challenge to encourage the members of his Life Tabernacle Church to exhibit their faith by writing bigger checks.
What better way than to show his own pugilistic skills by ATTACKING A HECKLING NEIGHBOR (all captured on video, no less) in the defense of his flock? And truth be told, he did indeed put on quite an exhibition when he left knuckle bumps all over the head of a much younger man, showing that he is not only a man of the faith but a pretty good street brawler as well.
If it was a new wrinkle to generating revenue—and we’re certainly not suggesting it was—it would seem to be working.
Almost immediately, a Facebook post went up encouraging supporters of the battling bishop to chip in contributions to his defense fund.

It’s really questionable if such a fund will ultimately become necessary. After all, he claims a running feud with the neighbor who he says has been hurling insults and racial epithets to his church members for as long as six years. It’s actually quite likely that all charges will eventually be dismissed and the entire affair will fade quietly into the background.
But the money can be put to good use. There’re always missions, building funds, and the church could probably use another bus or two to add to its existing fleet of 50+ buses (more than some school systems) to transport the faithful.

Oh, and how can we ever forget the PTL Club from the 1970’s featuring Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. While it supposedly stood for Praise The Lord, it was better known in many circles as the Pass The Loot Club. Jim went to jail for fraud and other misdeeds, but is still actively asking for money on television.
