Seated onstage are the enlarged photographs of, left to right, House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson, Rep. Julia Letlow, U.S. Sens. John Kennedy (who has now gone 2,986 days without a town hall meeting) and Bill Cassidy. All four were conspicuously absent from the Empty Chair Town Hall Meeting held in Ruston last night. The event, held at the Lincoln Parish Library, was attended by some 150 people. The doors to an adjoining room had to be opened to accommodate the crowd.
Co-sponsors of the event were Indivisible North Louisiana and 10,000 Women Louisiana.
Indivisible North Louisiana representative was Paula Stinson and she said all four officials were invited. Each responded, but each also declined to attend. She quoted Kennedy as saying earlier in a television interview, “These citizens have been asking for town halls. Have them call someone who cares.”
Whoa. Call someone who cares? Actually, that quote from Kennedy was in response to another issue: the shutdown of USAID, not a town hall meeting. So, proper context or not, he did, in fact, utter those three words: “Call someone who cares.“
A second Empty Chair Town Hall Meeting will be held Thursday in Monroe. It will be held at the Harvey H. Benoit Community Center beginning at 5 p.m.

None of these MAGA politicians gives a hoot about an “empty town hall” event. The fascist voters they depend on to stay in office are blissfully content with Herr Trump and whatever he wants to do. Their strong man makes them feel safe. So what if it comes at the cost of the Constitution? An event like this does, though, give Kennedy an opportunity to be snarky to Democrats and they all love that. They despise their fellow Americans so much it gives them little mini-orgasms every time Kennedy says “call someone who cares.”
Call someone who cares? Let’s do show Kennedy and the rest who cares in the elections.
Has the quote been verified? Would love to share but don’t share something publicly on social media w/o validating myself…
Understood. I’ll refrain from sharing then. If it wasn’t in the context of town halls then I don’t want to be attacked by MAGA’s. I live in a really red area and get enough abuse as it is.
I checked and he did, in fact, utter the words, ”Call someone who cares,” but it was not in the context of a town hall meeting. He said it (on Fox News, of course) in reference to the closure of USAID and went on to imply that the U.S. Department of Education would be next. To my knowledge, he has never directly addressed town hall meetings. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1415396092758923
