I apologize for the graphic language on the banners in the photo above but I am posting the image as a reminder that The Repugnant defenders of all that is decent and good continue to pursue their quest to purge all “objectionable” material from the public libraries in Louisiana.
They have mounted their campaigns in libraries in the parishes of Lafayette, Livingston, Bossier, and St. Tammany – and probably elsewhere because they say they don’t want the kiddies exposed to literature that might poison their minds.
Specifically, they appear to be targeting books containing any reference to LGBQT subject matter but they insist it’s about protecting young eyes from all types of smut. Yet, it’s quite doubtful that a Democrat hung these banners.
It’s called a double standard, folks, pure and simple. And don’t for a nano-second think it’s about decency – it’s about censorship with the end-game being control.
And if you’re not alarmed about this attempt to gain control over the libraries…you should be.
Some things are truly objectionable. If you don’t agree or care to acknowledge that then you are not fair and balanced or objective.
You mean like the above banner that the pro-family, pro-decency Repugnantcan hung out for all to see? I see.
Wake up, if you want our young kids accessing sexual garbage being bombarded with sexual bullcorn before being mature enough to compare intelligently or being programmed that some people are inherently bad and must pay then you sir are repugnant. This is basic America 101, not Wokeology as the new preferred ideology which is garbage.
I again refer you to the banners above. Repugnantcans love to judge and police the morals of others while displaying this kind of message for all (including children) to see.
You have options. If you don’t like what’s in the library, then turn in your library card and purchase the kind of books you prefer. If you don’t like something, you have the freedom not to use/buy/listen to/read it.
Second option: take your kids’ cell phones away from them. Cell phones have access to internet and internet porn which is far worse than anything you’ll find in the library – and much easier to access anywhere, anytime.
Option three: Cancel your cablevision subscription, especially Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc.
Option four: Keep your Bible away from the kiddos by all means; it’s chock full of violence, homosexuality, adultry, incest, mass murder, and little things like those who are blind, lame, or have their genitals injured may not enter the temple to worship. No clothing of mixed fabrics, no mixed crops, no plowing with an ox and an ass and no explaining how they got penguins from Antartica to the Mideast to get on that ark; magic sticks, talking snakes, talking donkeys (seriously), talking bushes. Why, the Bible even traces Jesus’s lineage from David down through Joseph (but…but…Joseph wasn’t his father, remember?).
You are really quick to judge others’ morals without considering the ramifications of censorship. You see, censorship is kind of like abolishing your right to own a gun (bet you wouldn’t go for that much, now would you?).
And let’s be completely honest: how old were you when you first snuck a peek at a Playboy?
I can handle your accusation that I’m repugnant and disgusting because I know my own heart that my moral compass is just fine, thank you. Can you handle being a hypocrite?
I don’t like the banners, I like the Lefts hypocracy even less. I agree a degree of civility needs to return, but the Left’s baseline is past ok. Taking the real garbage out of the library is necessary. I guess you feel Dr. Rachel Levine needs to be listened to and respected and her policies integrated into the norms of our society. I’m finished with this.
I do agree there is no room for the crap on the billboard. But our kids must be protected from content. Hopefull, cooler heads will prevail and a centrist view more inclusive can be adopted.
I remember when “conservatives” were a pretty homogeneous group.
Now it’s a bizarre mix of scumbags, puritans, perverts, Mormons, promiscuous oversexed fornicators, adulterers, “good” Catholics, drunks and druggies, intellectuals and pseudo intellectuals, bikers, anti-government outlaws, violent lunatics, cops, soldiers and at most 1% who don’t fit into one or more of those categories-all united as far as I can tell in little more than hateful white supremacy.
Pointless comment of the year
@ batson above
I followed this site as it seemed as if it was bringing forth relevant topics often neglected by mainstream media. @Can’t say is obviously woke and intellectually bankrupt trying to lump conservatives into a one-size-fits-all. I think @tomaswell has more redeeming qualities but is obviously a canceler at heart. Return to civility all. Gooday.
From where I sit, it just seems that republicans are the ones who are woke and who are canceling text books, any mention of slavery or the civil war, “don’t say gay” (it’s not like gays don’t exist at all and don’t contribute to society, so why ignore them completely – and why ignore the contributions of African-Americans? they are members of society, they are human beings and they have emotions and hurt and bleed like everyone else. It just seems we could all be a little more tolerant.) I certainly don’t think kerkbatson can call anyone else woke or a canceler. After all, isn’t he advocating censorship?
HaHa like advocating for decency is a crime!
No one says it is. By the way, what’s the definition of decency?
BTW, your circular garbage reminds me, what is the def, of a woman?
Circular garbage? “what is the def, of a woman” What is that? Anyway, decency is a state of being. Banning certain books is a form of censorship, not advocating decency.
I haven’t done a study but I would bet my next paycheck 95 out of 100 kids would go online first before going to the library. Banning, removing, or even making such books difficult to access accomplishes nothing except to allow the self-righteous to wallow in their self-righteousness and the paranoid to wallow in their paranoia – which is the main purpose of manufacturing issues like this. Gotta keep those voters motivated. Never know when you might need an insurrection.
“I haven’t done a study but I would bet my next paycheck 95 out of 100 kids would go online first before going to the library.” S Paul I will join you in that bet. Go to the library for what? It’s all available at their fingertips.
Two wrongs have never made a right. Both your subject matter and your example are both very objectionable. Neither should be permitted in a decent society.
Finally someone who realizes about a time and a place; Admissable and inadmissable; tolerable and intolerable; right and wrong.
Of course the example is objectionable. That’s why I posted it – to show what the hypocrite Repugnantcans are doing. They are calling for censorship on one hand and then hanging these type banners on overpasses. How can they claim they support “decency” while displaying garbage like this?
As usual, those who disagree miss the point altogether. No matter what kerkbatson claims, this IS about censorship. (“What is the def. of a woman?” What are you even talking about? You’re WAAAY off subject) As I have said repeatedly, if it were truly about decency, they’d be demanding removal of the Bible, which contains mass murder, incest, adultry, fornication, genocide, and the condoning of slavery. And they would never hang a banner like the one shown in the post.
It’s just about censorship and control. Once they are successful in this endeavor, what’s next? And there will be a “next” and then another “next,” and then another. You can book it.
Just substitute the word “decency” in the place of “playoffs” in the video below.
Let’s go ahead and get everybody sorted out here. Look at whatever porn, etc you want as an adult in an adult store, just not in a school library. Call yourself whatever you want, whenever you want. Just don’t change yourself surgically until after 21 years of age. This is not censorship, this is not rocket science, at least not to me. It’s common decency linked with a proper moral compass. I’s called common sense.
post election: love and agree with Tom Aswell! thanks, still we must respect ignorance, education is one answer, some are not educable (?sp.) big word for me. and we must keep learning and loving ron thompson
