Folks, when I screw up, I have no choice but admit it and apologize. The votes by Kennedy and Cassidy were to keep the $35 cap on the price of insulin intact. I misread the amendment as an effort to remove the cap and had our two senators voting yes.
The amendment, in fact, was not to remove the cap but was a procedural move in an effort to keep the cap. It was voted in favor by a 57-43 vote but needed 60 votes to pass, so the $35 cap for those under private insurance do not qualify for the cap.
The Repugnantcan Party did, in fact, kill the cap, but Kennedy and Cassidy were not part of that effort. My sincerest apologies to both.
I may oppose Kennedy and his grandstanding, but when I err, I must do the honorable thing and admit my mistake and to apologize.
Thanks for being willing to admit that you made a mistake and make it right.
I wondered about that since last year he was crowing about an HHS Diabetes Research Grant to Louisiana Health Centers.

Tom I thought you were wrong but wanted to further investigate. It takes courage, in a public forum, to admit that a mistake was made. Keep on posting and I will keep on reading.
Thanks Tom for the mistake admission. However maybe you were confused by the perfect NO republican votes for the final passage. After all its a well played game…As long as we stay under 60 votes it will fail. So for our Cassidy and Kennedy and Maine and Alaska senators its your turn to have some of your voters believe you might be moderating, or even caring.
So Tom maybe you made a mistake only to a particular vote and not to to the true Senators intentions. AFTER ALL IS ANYONE SUGGESTING CASSIDY AND KENNEDY WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR THE FINAL BILL IF THE AMENDMENT HAD PASSED? Hey it was going to pass and it passed anyway right? So they could have voted for it…but didn’t…. not one of the precious 7. Lets remember that. Like well said “Watch what I do, not what I say”….
If only our politicians were as expeditious as you in recognizing their errors and gaffes. “Apology” is not on most politicians’ operative lexicon.
I don’t know what you read nor do I recall where I read what I also saw as the same as you. I reread it because I knew Kennedy wanted the cap and even then it seemed to read the opposite.
I do know it was national news and not state or local but still could have been the same article since media has been monopolized down to 6 large conglomerates who have also bought up local media like USA Today did with the Daily Advertiser. It’s why I prefer to seek out independent journalists who show the receipts.
