I had fully intended to cease posting quotes about the election once it was over – no matter the outcome. But White House Precious Secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s outrageous crowd estimates for Saturday’s MAGA march (est. 20,000) is so reminiscent of her predecessor Sean Spicer’s crowd estimate for Trump’s inauguration four years ago, I just couldn’t resist. The first quote is Kayleigh’s tweet (remember now, this person is an attorney. Now ask yourself if you’d want her representing you in a court of law):
More than one MILLION marchers for President descend on the swamp in support. Best base in political history – we LOVE you guys!!!”
Here are some of the responses to her embarrassingly inaccurate crowd estimate:
LOL! ‘A million’! Well I guess seeing as you’re Kayleigh Macaroni, we should give you a point for not saying ‘a bajillion’…”
If that a million people, then Joe Biden won by 5.5 billion votes instead of 5.5 million.”
Girl, you can’t count. Maybe that’s why you are having such a hard time understanding the election results.”
The inability to tell the difference between a thousand MAGA march and a million MAGA march is another reason Trump lost the counts in GA, PA, MI, AZ, NV AND WI.”
This administration is going out the same way it came in: by blatantly lying about crowd size.”
I see that you went to the Sean Spicer school of crowd size.”
Shouldn’t you be working on your linked in profile right now?”
McEnany 11:16 am: “More than one MILLION marchers.”
Trump 3:24 p.m. “Hundreds of thousands of people.”
Trump 12:00 a.m.: “Tens of thousands of people.”
While creative lying is interesting to think about….creative lying coming from this White House has been and is extremely dangerous to America. I have just stopped watching or taking interest in this grave miscarriage of our election process and my disdain for these elected U.S. Republican “public servants” is complete. I did inadvertently hear a few interviews with the “MAGA Marchers” and I was just so embarrassed for them….but, I did wonder how they are able to fund their attendance and afford all of that misuse of our American flag as clothing? My attention is now on the two Senate races in Georgia and how badly the Republican Senate needs to be defeated. Geaux, Georgia! and, I am not referencing football!
You had better not quit posting, because Trump will not just “go away” unless it is to Russia–Ms. Mcanannnny is in law school I heard. She will do well with Liberty university. ron thompson
McEnany received a law degree from Harvard Law in 2017. Just wondering when Harvard will revoke the degree.
You mean Trump was MORE honest tha Barbieninny? Wow!
There is nothing rational about turning a crowd of thousands into a million or turning fiction into facts. But they do it just the same because they have to give exhilaration food to their followers. Their shared psychosis. Here is part of the WAPO article with a link to the complete story:
After a week in which more than 750,000 Americans were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, almost none of his backers wore masks. Among their ranks were white nationalists, conspiracy theorists and far-right activists carrying signs demanding action that was already being taken: “Count the legal votes.”
Trump had thrilled them when his motorcade appeared on Pennsylvania Avenue shortly after 10 a.m., prompting fans to scramble to the side of Freedom Plaza to catch a glimpse.
“He drove right past me. I saw him. He waved right past me,” one man said as he tried to collect himself.

All very surreal to say the least.
Facts mean nothing to his cult. They will believe anything he or anybody on his team says and call everything we consider fact “fake news.” They rationalize his every behavior. If they represent 48% of our population and if El Trump stays in the limelight, how can we force them to at least look at factual information and see it as indisputable? I don’t know. I’m asking. Let’s say he stays around, is indicted, and prosecuted for any one or more of his crimes. What will his cult say? We already know: “Witch Hunt”
Cults have existed throughout the history of the world and things like the Jim Jones tragedy are more easily understood than others. These cults often isolate themselves from mainstream society. Since that is not the case with most of the Trump cult members, it more resembles mass hysteria – think of the Salem Witch Trials in that context – a close analogy, in my opinion.
Stephen…I know you will find this opinion piece about white evangelicals interesting. It doesn’t explain everything about Trump supporters but it sure paints a good picture of the most devoted ones.

Thanks, I subscribe to WaPo, but had missed this piece. I am astounded to learn these people account for 26% of the popular vote and this goes a long way toward explaining their power. They are clearly a sub-cult of the Trump cult of which there must be many.
