“An ‘army’ doesn’t sound like people just there to observe. An ‘army’ sounds like people there to engage in war with the enemy.”
—Sean Morales-Doyle, of the Brennan Center for Justice, on Trump’s call for an “Army” in recruiting poll watchers for the Nov. 3 election.
“The same people who decline to extend the presumption of fairness to members of the commission rightly assert that Amy Coney Barrett will put aside her personal beliefs on the Supreme Court.”
—Former Republican Senator John Danforth, a member of the Commission on Presidential Debates, in a Washington Post op-ed.
“Speaking again for myself, had I wanted to help the Biden campaign, the last thing on my mind would have been to restrain the technique President Trump exhibited in the first debate.”
—Danforth.
“The president’s apparent strategy is to challenge the validity of the election should he lose. We saw this strategy initially in his claims that mail-in ballots are the tools for massive election fraud. Now we see it as well in his assertion that the debates have been rigged by the commission to favor former vice president Joe Biden.”
—Danforth, in the same op-ed column.
NOT A TRUMP QUOTE, but it should be (with apologies to Cavin & Hobbes):
“Meeting called to order. Dictator For Life Trump proposes resolution condemning the existence of Reporters.”
As far as I’m concerned, he can say whatever he wants to say after he is DEFEATED in the election. I just hope whatever he says is IGNORED by the media. It will have no relevance, nor should he. I also hope he was serious about leaving the country if defeated. A fitting end. It would be nice to see him tried for criminal offenses here, but if they only get him on tax evasion, ala Al Capone, why waste the time and money doing it AND keeping him in the limelight as the martyr to his cause he plays so well. He probably has no truly liquid assets so the government would collect zilch anyhow. And this is without mentioning the continued demise of our respect on the world stage.
P. S. Not to beat a dead horse, but the Republican Party had a real candidate in the person of John Kasich. Had he been nominated and elected, this would be a whole different country today and his party would certainly have more respect and credibility. As it stands, he will probably (hopefully) be appointed to Biden’s cabinet.
The closer we get to the election, the more anxiety I get! Will Trump repeat? Please no! Almost every other person I hear from, speak to, have or will continue to support Trump and vote for the criminal in the WH. I just saw a FB post with a sign that said Covid-19, not as bad as Biden 20.
Me, too!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn’t real, it would be unbelievable.
I dumped social media 2 years ago for that same anxiety, and I don’t miss it at all. Now, I’ve backed off watching the news until the election; just once or twice a day. My kids and I pulled the early voter flush lever on Washington yesterday. Since there’s nothing else I can do to change things, I try to limit my exposure.
With that said, there’s probably not enough Whiskey to pacify me on November 3rd, lol.
I’m glad I found this blog…I’ll be checking back more frequently. I hope you all are doing well in Louisiana!
