“Under the PREP Act, which is a provision in Congress, any treatment or vaccine for purposes of a national emergency pandemic like this actually comes with liability protection. Both the product as well as those who administer it or provide it.”
—Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, saying on Fox News Monday that the proposed vaccines will come with automatic liability protection, meaning those receiving the vaccines will have no legal recourse should something go wrong.
“But that just shows you, at this particular time in history, we have a very divisive electorate.”
—White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, commenting on the surge in Democratic fundraising in the 80 minutes following the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. [Um…perhaps me meant “divided,” but even that would be a mischaracterization. Besides losing the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million votes, Senate Republicans received 10 million fewer votes than Democrats in 2016 and 18 million fewer in 2018 and a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that 62% (including half of Republicans) prefer allowing the winner of the Nov. 3 presidential election fill Ginsburg’s vacant seat. And while Trump gives himself an “A-plus” in his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 56% of Americans give him a thumbs-down while only 39.7% approve. Doesn’t sound too divided – or divisive – to me.]
“One thing became clear: the people want to FILL THAT SEAT!”
—Donald Trump, in an email solicitation for contributions on Monday. [Again, Trump just flat-out lies. I refer you back to that poll that shows 62% think the seat should be filled by the Nov. 3 winner, whether it’s Trump or Biden. And speaking of the election, if Trump and McConnell were so confident of winning in six weeks, you’d think they’d be amenable to waiting until after the election. In fact, I think it would be a magnanimous gesture on their part.]
“He has said before that it keeps him up at night thinking of even one life lost. This president has taken this incredibly seriously. What he’s done is, he’s worked harder. Each and every day he works hard, puts his head down, and I think that’s very evident in the administration’s historic response.”
—White House precious secretary Kayleigh McEnany, on the toll the coronavirus pandemic has taken on Dear Leader, Sept/ 22, 2020. [He obviously can relieve the terrible burden only by heading to the golf course. You know, Kayleigh, lying is one thing but taking the American public for complete idiots is another.]
One item quiz:
If the 43% of the electorate who firmly support him manage to re-elect the current POTUS, for whatever reason, and in both the popular and projected electoral college votes, will that mean:
A. He was able to effectively eliminate voter fraud before the election
B. The ballots should still be thrown out and the electoral college votes manipulated to ensure a resounding victory or 100% even in blue states.
C. We should stop voting for Presidents and ignore the Constitution entirely.
D. He has, de facto, been anointed President for Life.
E. We are now officially a dictatorship
F. Any combination of the above that fits your personal ideology
Yesterday, tRump said that he won’t commit to a ‘peaceful transfer of power’ if he loses. He knows he is losing and will in all probability lose in November. He is already laying the groundwork for ignoring election results by saying they were rigged, denying his loss and remaining in power. If he were to succeed in his plans the country would change from being a Democracy to being a dictatorship. A few weeks ago I thought this impossible, but every day brings to light, from the mouth of tRump and his campaign sources, that very possibility.
Good article from The Atlantic on how he could throw the election into chaos and subvert the result. Frightening possibility.

As I watch video of Joe Biden exiting an airplane waving to an empty field as though it were full of adoring supporters, I wonder where one gets the confidence that Biden will win. We see a totally opposite situation wherever the President goes.
We all know that any democrat will automatically get at least 40% simply because some people would vote for Satan himself, were he a declared democrat.
Stephen, has it occurred to you that there is not 43% that support Trump as much as there is 43% that completely oppose the Democrat agenda, an agenda that not a single one of you (Biden supporters) will defend. These people you see on television every night burning, vandalizing, tearing down monuments and rioting are not Republicans; they are 100% Democrats. And where do you get this dictatorship reference from ? Was it not your hero BHO that said he could just bypass Congress because he “had a phone and pen” ? That told Russian ambassador that he could appease Vladimer after election ? That gave $1.5 Billion cash to our sworn enemies (Iran mullahs) without Congressional approval so they could kill more innocents ? But Trump is a dictator ? And do you not see the difference in absentee ballot versus mailed ballots ? President for life ? Stephen, the man is what 73 – C’mon man, stop saying insane sound bites that you know are simply inaccurate. Next thing, you are going to say Biden is not getting senile when we can all see it.
Trump led the popular vote count in 2016 until California vote came in. That is the issue should the Electoral College were removed. One could carry large margins in New York City, California, and carry an election. That is exactly what our founding fathers were afraid of. The good thing is that because the Constitution would have to be amended to adopt some of Bernie Sanders/AOC/Harris/Biden b.s. , it will never happen.
As for the Supreme Court seat, You can bet your life that were the situations reversed, Dems would replace RGB in a heartbeat, and it is dishonest to believe otherwise. And we know that she publicly stated a seat should be filled a.s.a.p. We do not know that she said otherwise on her deathbed, and we can be pretty certain that is a fib.
And Tom, Obama was no stranger to golf course. Nor G W Bush. Trump is likely more confident than McConnel is. Were the Dems to control the Senate, it would be impossible to appoint another Justice as Dems would NEVER appoint anyone that Trump selected – we both know that.
Bzzzz, bzzzz.
Zoe, I had promised myself to quit trying to respond to your comments, as it has become tiresome. But, I can’t let you get by with your first falsehood. A social media site posted that picture of Biden, claiming he was waving to an empty field. However, sometime later, two reporters, who were there, stated that Biden was waving to a group of firefighters and ground crewmen.
