“Bill Barr has the chance to be the greatest of all time, but if he wants to be politically correct, he’ll be just another guy, because he knows all the answers, he knows what they have, and it goes right to Obama and it goes right to Biden.”
—Donald Trump, desperate to get what he believes will be a favorable report on his investigation into the origins of the Russian interference investigation out before the election. [Sounds like Trump’s getting a little antsy with his lapdog Barr. Maybe Barr should call Jeff Sessions for advice.]
“There is clear evidence that this motion reflects a corrupt and politically motivated favor unworthy of our justice system. The government’s failure to defend its own pretextual reasoning is matched by its silence on the subject of abuse of power,” the ex-judge added. “The government makes virtually no effort to deny or rebut the powerful evidence that its…motion improperly seeks to place this Court’s imprimatur on a corrupt, politically motivated favor for the president’s friend and ally.”
—Former federal judge John Gleeson, arguing on Friday that the Justice Department’s efforts to drop the case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
“It’s been 72 hours since I released 11 years of state and federal ta returns and challenged Jaime Harrison to do the same. Crickets. What is he hiding?”
—Donald Trump apologist Lindsey Graham, calling on his Democratic opponent to release his tax returns. [Yep, and it’s been 4 years since Donald Trump promised to return his. Crickets. What is he hiding?]
“The status quo is irrevocably altered once those documents are disclosed, even to the district attorney, because, you know, quite obviously you can’t make them forget what they learned. You can’t un-ring that bell.”
—Trump lawyer William S. Consovoy, arguing against the release of Trump’s tax returns. [Um, exactly. And that’s why we deserve a peek at what he’s trying to keep everyone from learning.]
“To put it bluntly: he didn’t have the guts to make tough choices ― he left that to governors and the states. Now he’s decided he doesn’t have to respect our state’s laws. As usual, he doesn’t believe the rules apply to him,”
—Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, on Trump’s defiance of Nevada’s prohibitions of gatherings of more than 50 people, a policy based on White House recommendations, after Trump held a large indoor rally in that state Sunday night. {But…he’s only trying to play the coronavirus down – just like he told Bob Woodward.]
Hopefully by now everyone has viewed the video of the assassination attempt on the two officers in Compton, California. Attached to that is a video of a witness to the crime lauding the shooter and railing against the two officers. Later, those same “activists” tried to limit access to the hospital where the two officers were being treated.
Now, is it too much of a stretch to associate the shooting with the Democrat’s acceptance of violence across the country, along with the refusal to take action by many left leaning politicians? Biden came out and (finally) decided to make a call against violence…but what took him so long? Once the shooter is eventually taken into custody, will Kamala Harris post his ball as she has done for so many other violent lawbreakers?
How far will the left go with their permissive acceptance of loss of life and property? It would appear that Democrats want to “topple the system” so badly that they are willing to support any level of lawlessness to achieve that goal. Regardless of party or political position, is this how Americans solve their problems?
This election would appear to come down to “progressive” Biden who supports dismantling American society by any means necessary contrasted with President Trump who stands firmly for supporting law and order. Will you vote for “progressive” mayhem…or conservative stability?
One question: Who is the current President? Another: How long has he been president? Another: Has violence increased or declined during this period? Another: Has unity increased or decreased during this period? Last question: If this is a solvable problem why has HE not solved it? And don’t say Obama, Obama, Obama, Hillary, Hillary, Hillary, Nancy, Nancy, Nancy…they are not President.
Where did you copy this from?
That’s my question too. I bet that source is social media…
Maybe Outlaw is also a bot rather than a real person?
Uhhh, off topic much??
Yes, Outlaw, the shooting was reprehensible, deplorable, criminal and goes against everything this country stands for. Only an idiot would suggest otherwise. But so, too, was Trump’s suggestion in 2016 that perhaps the 2nd Amendment could “take care” of Hillary Clinton.
But this unwarranted shooting (which certainly does not appear to be random at all) is no worse than the killings of Blacks at the hands of cops, particularly that of Elijah Jovan McClain in Aurora, Colorado, or the deaths of six black men while in the custody of Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, especially that of Victor White who managed to get a gun and shoot himself in the chest…while his hands were cuffed behind his back.
You are really quick to jump on this horrible incident while ignoring and even condoning all the illegal actions of Trump, Barr and McConnell. And do you support Rep. Jim Jordan even though several Ohio State wrestlers have come forward to say he was fully aware of the sexual harassment of male wrestlers while he was a coach there? Probably so, even as you feed on the crap being spewed by the likes of internet trolls like yourself who insist that Hillary was part of a child trafficking ring run out of a pizza parlor or that she eats babies or that Wayfair sells children on its online furniture site.
Yes, the shooter deserves everything the law can throw at him but so does Trump for deliberately misleading the American public about the severity of the coronavirus. He now has the blood of 190,000 dead Americans on his hands. But hey, he got his photo-op with that upside-down Bible so I guess that’s all that matters to you.
I could go on and on, but to do so would be wasting my time on a very small mind, so I’ll just leave you with this bit of advice: quit playing into the hands of Russian disinformation internet trolls and if you’re in North Carolina, don’t even think about voting twice – no matter what your leader says. But I suppose you could write a love letter to Kim Jong Un.
Very good commentary on evil from Charles Blow of the NYT’s and how it reigns …
A great piece by a guy who came from humble beginnings in Gibsland, Louisiana to gain a national voice. Every single American should read this brief column and then actually think about what it means. Then they might read a little history for context.
