67 days to go
“Yesterday Obama campaigned with JayZ & Springsteen while Hurricane Sandy victims across NY & NJ are still decimated by Sandy. Wrong!”
—Trump tweet just before the 2012 election.
“[P]residential leadership came swiftly and effectively with an extraordinary rescue for health and safety to successfully fight the covid virus.”
—Trump economic adviser Larry Kudlow, Aug. 25, 2020. [Really? In what universe?]
“The recommendation not to test asymptomatic people who likely have been exposed is not in accord with the science.”
—John Auerbach, president of Trust for America’s Health, on Wednesday’s posting of guidelines that say it’s no longer necessary for those who have been in close contact with coronavirus-infected people, but don’t feel sick, to get tested. [Is this recommendation an example of that “swift and effective” leadership? Can we call this an “extraordinary rescue”?]
“This is like a public health version of Vietnam.”
—Brian Castrucci, president of the de Beaumont Foundation, which works to strengthen the public health system, on the new CDC guidelines.
“…a recipe for community spread.
—The American Medical Association, on the new CDC guidelines.
“…a step backward in fighting the pandemic.”
—The Association of American Medical Colleges, on the new CDC guidelines.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert and perhaps the best-known task force member, said Wednesday he wasn’t part of the discussion that green-lighted the change. Fauci told CNN he was undergoing surgery when the new guidance was discussed last week, adding he was “worried it will give people the incorrect assumption that asymptomatic spread is not of great concern. In fact, it is.” [Wasn’t it convenient that this action by the White House coronavirus task force was taken while Fauci was undergoing surgery and unavailable to take part in such an important decision?]
“From the very beginning, Democrats, the media and the World Health Organization got the coronavirus wrong. One leader took decisive action to save lives: President Donald Trump.”
G.O.P. propaganda film shown at Republican Convention, on Monday.
“We did the exact right thing. We saved millions.”
—Donald Trump, at the G.O.P. Convention on Monday.
Oh, puke.
To borrow from an old adage, all’s fair in love, war, and politics. Since it is okay to lie about pretty much everything, we all are forced to find our own truth. Looking at verifiable facts provides the path, but too few seem to take it. It’s much easier to simply listen to what your favorite politician or talking head says and take it as the truth. Research is boring.
I don’t know which is worse. tRump and his constant and incessant lies about anything and everything or his supporters who are so blind to his falsehoods and hang on to him like a person clinging to a palm tree on the beach during a hurricane. I think the supporters scare me more. There is only one of him, but millions of them. Getting their news on Fox and Facebook. Unable and unwilling to put their prejudices aside and listen to reason. Terrified of their biggest fear: change. Digging in their feet to stop and roll back the inevitability of change. Scared to death their white world as they know it will be diminished and collapse. Frightened like little children experiencing a nightmare.
CJG: I agree with you. Without his cult followers and McConnell, Trump would be nothing….a naked leader without a following, doomed to the trash heap of weak, unqualified leaders. BUT, because of these followers’ unfathomable support, he has power and strength to corrupt and destroy our Nation. I wish someone would make a list of all of the things and people that he has hurt or downright destroyed (immigration policies for instance). If we had a list to look at all of the time and visualize the actual ones that have been hurt, perhaps we could conclude that Trump is evil, wittingly or unwittingly. It is amazing that the Malignant Narcissist Trump has managed to find his cult following as U.S. President. Just think about that….It is a good thing that “we the people” still have the power of our one vote and united, we can save America from Trumpism, formerly known as the GOP/Republican Party.
Stephen, I definitely agree. What helps me… is to frequently remind myself to stay true to who I am and let that remain very clear to family and friends. What I can’t change, I try not to worry about even though there is enough aggravated ignorance out there to drive me mad. Avoiding the mudslinging and refusing meaningless arguments helps me stay focused on what truly matters to me. I want the leader of this mess removed. We can’t begin to repair ourselves until he is out of office. The rest is just noise.
Kamarcan: I wish we had a “like” button! I really “like” your post!
I agree folks, best is “puke”.Personally, my problem is with old or young friends who act just like Trump, and I wonder what is wrong with me, why didn’t I see this in them??? Why did I block it?? Oh well, we will have our work cut out , but I refuse to think or consider that Trumpism, the GOP will destroy us. I trust the Intelligence agencies and I can say without question, we have a plan and it is not Bill Barr’s “baby”.Thanks ron thompson
