“It should be readily apparent by now that there is no treason, no crime, no act of cruelty or instance of corruption or incompetence that will be enough for supporters to abandon Trump. This is how fascism works, how cults of power follow their leaders into the dark abyss.”
—Jared Yates Sexton, author, political commentator and associate professor in the Department of Writing and Linguistics at Georgia Southern University, Aug. 25, 2020.
“So far, the RNC seems to be mostly providing content designed to thrill MAGA devotees who already love Trump. I’d think that’s a questionable strategy.”
—Robby Soave, writing for the conservative publication Reason, Aug. 25, 2020.
“This convention is targeted to one voter: Donald Trump. The whole convention is to make his lonely soul feel affirmed.”
—David Brook, The New York Times, Aug. 25, 2020.
“President Trump brought our economy back before, and he will bring it back again.”
— Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley. [The United States added jobs for 94 straight months, of which 18 were under Trump’s leadership. In 2017, Trump’s first year in office, monthly job growth slowed to 179,000 per month. It jumped to 223,000 a month in 2018 — lower than under President Barack Obama in 2014 and 2015 (more than 250,000 jobs each month in 2014 and 227,000 a month in 2015) — and fell back to 175,000 a month in 2019. “Those kinds of sentiments have some appeal — to the people who already form the Trump base. But it is difficult to see how they help bring voters from the center ground into the fold. And it is those voters whom the president desperately needs.”
—Niall Stanage, The Hill, Aug. 25, 2020,, describing the speeches of the first night of the Republican Convention.
“It would pass, I can guarantee it. It is 100% owned by him. Not even bought and paid for. They sold their souls to him so he could own them.”
—Conservative activist Kendal Unruh, speculating that a resolution to rename the Republican Party the Donald J. Trump Party would likely be approved, Aug. 24, 2020.
Denying racism and blaming racist protests on Democrats… SMDH. What a stark contrast between the two platforms.
Between their realities.
“The hostility (if not outright hatred) aimed at Kamala Harris from the far right is a function of racism and hostile sexism.
Racism and sexism are also foundational to authoritarianism and neofascism.
As historian Federico Finchelstein neatly summarizes in his book “A Brief History of Fascist Lies,” a principal goal of fascism is “to leave reason behind and return to prejudice.'” Chauncey Devega – Salon

All of the fascists I see on television daily are democrats (Antifa, BLM). I have yet to see a single democrat criticize them, and in fact, they cover for them (Jerry Nadler – I do not see any looting, is all made up by FOX news, Biden – no comment, Harris, no comment ?)
No, the dislike of Kamala is not racist. She was a poor prosecutor, she was a poor attorney general (the Senator from Hawaii (Tulsi) pretty well laid that out).. She has taken unpopular political stands; ex: no private insurance, government will only allow you to own certain guns, She was only able to muster what, 3% of the democrat vote. She lied about her smoking dope era, she lied about her busing experience. Her grandfather was a slave owner. She just panders for votes, and was not successful at it. She simply was not popular with any group. And let us be blunt – she is where she is politically today because she slept her way there. Do you think a lot of married women are going to support her ? Racism is always the go to allegation with liberals – is supposed to shut down the discussion when there is no defense.
And who is tearing down statues everywhere ? Is that not one of the first things fascists do ? Kamarcan, who is it out on the streets at night vandalizing, looting and rioting every night ? Conservatives ? Protest is fine. When the first brick is thrown, it is wrong. Can you not see the distinction ?
You’ve got this Fascism thing all mixed up…and you might want to review your definitions. Antifa is an acronym for anti fascist, so calling them fascist is a little embarrassing for you. I don’t know a lot about it but the term seems to refer to a belief or movement, so I doubt that you’re going to find a big brick building with a neon antifa sign. As for what they stand for; you’d have to ask one (as opposed to the crap made up and circulating on social media). I don’t support militant movements regardless of their political direction.
I’m surprised and truly embarrassed (again) to see your views on Kamala Harris. I didn’t expect a woman to say something like that.
There are very important distinctions to be made about the race protests and who participates in them. First: If you can’t understand WHY they are protesting, then you won’t understand why government suppression tactics won’t work any better than it has in the past. Second: there have always been opportunists and criminals that exploit civil protest for their own purposes, and politicians will gladly spin their behavior to support their political agenda. These two are not the same… Perpetuating confusion between legitimate, government-protected protest and others engaging in criminal activity is nothing more than addressing the symptom and not the problem. This will continue to plague our country until we deal with the PROBLEM.
Excellent comment.
Karmarcan: Thank you….you said exactly what needs to be said. These folks that just keep posting propaganda lies without citing sources are really just lying and trying to muddy the waters. I guess it works with Trumpers but conscientious folks just dismiss as floundering Trumpers…
Zoe, you’ve crossed the line. Why is it that people like you declare, without any proof at all, that a successful woman is only successful because she “slept” her way there? That comment is disgusting and an affront to all of us successful women who worked hard for everything we accomplished.
Stop spewing your fox hatred and face reality. You and your ilk have supported a con man who laughs at the constitution, purports to have the working man’s back, spews hatred and animosity to rile up his base, who thrives on power and self adulation, and who could care less about you or your problems in this world because he only wants your vote so he can stay in power to do more destruction.
Wow, love karmarcan essay! well done, now if I can just find someone to use it on without getting another divorce, just kidding…..ron thompson
After reading the Salon article, a friend of mine commented: “Great. We are now a country of racists who elected an idiot.”
You guys give Zoe too much thought. He’s just a Russian dude paid to troll this site.
I do appreciate everyone’s rebuttals, though. Keep up the good work.
Ken Burk….I have wondered about her background….
It is sad. I gave up rapid fact checking instead coming to the correct conclusion that Trumps info is a LIE unless proven otherwise. This is continuously verifie. However I am disappointed that the Biden campaign only used Trumps mantra using surperlatives to describe what should have been displayed in facts. Purin could not be happier with his usefull idiot.
