“Wearing a mask is a non-partisan issue. The advice of medical experts shouldn’t be politicized. My father ignored medical expertise and now he has COVID. “lease listen to medical experts. It’s not worth following a president who has no remorse for leading his followers to an early grave.”
–Caroline Brooks, daughter of Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas), who caught the coronavirus after refusing to wear a mask until he had already caught the virus..
“I can’t help but wonder if by keeping a mask on and keeping it in place, if I might have put some … of the virus on the mask and breathed it in. … But the reports of my demise are very premature. If somebody feels strongly about everybody should wear a mask, then they shouldn’t be around people that don’t wear masks.”
Rep. Louis Gohmert, refusing to admit his stupidity, claiming he caught the virus from his mask. [You freaking idiot, it’s pretty difficult to avoid all those with oatmeal for brains out there walking around without masks. Read the comments below to understand how difficult it is to avoid the maskless morons.]
“There is a general fear that saying anything critical of the current office policy — or lack of policy — will lead to retaliation. Our office has been required to be fully staffed since session resumed at the end of June (including an intern). While mask use isn’t banned, it’s also not encouraged, and has been derided on several occasions by the [chief of staff] and the member.”
—Comments by congressional aides following Rep. Louie Gohmert’s testing positive for coronavirus, which he claims he contracted from his mask. [And headline-hungry preachers and belligerent barbecue joints take their cues from idiots like Clay Higgins and Gohmert.]
“It never was about safety. It was about taking away our freedoms.”
—Prophet (or should that be Profit?) Tony Spell on the mandate to wear masks to inhibit the spread of a virus that has killed almost 155,000 Americans, some of whom were probably subscribed to such nonsense as Spell’s claim that requiring masks is “tyrannical.” [Perhaps its worth noting that in 2011, only 30 percent of white evangelicals thought an elected official who committed an immoral act in their personal life could behave ethically but by 2016, when Trump ran for president, that number had increased to 73 percent. Apparently, it was “never about” morality. It was about political expedience and convenience.]
Ever wonder what should be done with all the manure generated by tRump and his supporters? Well, we should probably build a manure storage facility. The sizing of a storage facility depends upon three factors:
How many animals are on the farm, and how much of the manure is collected?
What is the time period the storage will be accumulating manure before emptying?
How much money is available for building the facility?
Even though the number of livestock on a farm may not be large, enough manure can be generated to pose a problem if planning is not done. For example, a single horse can produce 50 pounds of manure per day which translates to 11 cubic yards and 9 tons annually. The manure and bedding produced by one horse in a year can exceed 25 cubic yards. This would require a storage area of about 12 feet by 12 feet with an accumulated depth of 3 to 5 feet for one year of storage, depending on how much decomposition and compaction of the manure takes place. Our horse, tRump, generates at least multiples of ten times as much as a normal horse, so that will have to be taken into consideration when planning.
The site, when built, will be called the tRump Presidential Library.
How about the presidential library being a prison library? Could build a small library with one shelf for the books he has read, if that even takes one shelf. The rest of the building could be built to jail him and his corrupt crime family.
I like both these ideas 🙂
I have had, what for me was something of an epiphany about people who support Trump. While I still believe a chunk of them observe him and like what they see and a smaller chunk are elites in Congress and elsewhere who directly profit financially from his presidency. However, having read a lot of posts in a lot of places and reflecting on things people have said to me, I believe the largest chunk, by far, are people who have no idea who or what he is because they are assiduously ignorant. These are the people who tell me they do not watch, read, or listen to news because they don’t believe any of it except, maybe, the opinion pieces from conservative sources (if they even bother with these). Evangelicals listen to no higher powers than their pastors. Others simply reinforce each other’s opinions that have no basis in fact. So, we largely have ignorant people reinforcing the ignorance of other ignorant people. That conclusion clears a lot of things up for me. Maybe you guys all thought this all along, and I always thought it was true of a small number of people, but I am now convinced I grossly underestimated it. Unfortunately, it also means there is no way in heck to reach them – something I did already know.
Mr. Winham, you are so right and I would only add that fear of the unknown is the byproduct of their ignorance.
Fear of uncertainty, of the unknown, of failure, of rejection, of missing out, of change, of losing control, of being judged, etc. And then along comes the demagogue promising to make things better and allaying the fears of these struggling ignorants searching for easy answers. These low information voters swallow his empty promises hook, line and sinker. They refuse to face reality. Afraid to see the truth because it would expose them to all their fears.
Mr. Windham,
Will the Age of Enlightenment come to America after Trump or are we too deep in the Dark Ages?
Re Caroline Gohmert–would love to be at the dinner table in the Gohmert family; OTH, glad to see that the gene pool is improving with younger generations.
“taking their cues from Clay Higgins and Gohmert”; add AG Landry to the list.
Wonder what the “Prophet” sees in his crystal ball come Nov 3? Doesn’t he claim a direct line to the WH via Tony Perkins? What a charlatan!
It seems that “morality” is a rather elastic term when it comes to Trump Evangelical supporters: cynically, I would say, “redemption”, except that Trump has not redeemed himself (neither has his family).
Sounds like she fell a long way from the tree.
