“Something terrible, something dangerous — and, yes, something unconstitutional — is happening in Portland, Ore.”
—Ruth Marcus, Washington Post.
“He made a fool out of himself. He wanted to be among the people, so he went into the crowd. And so they knocked the hell out of him, so that was the end of him.”
—Donald Trump, on Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, in interview with Sean Hannity. {At least he wasn’t hiding in a bunker.]
“We have to study the history of slavery and its role and impact on the development of our country because otherwise we can’t understand our country. As the Founding Fathers said, it was the necessary evil upon which the union was built…”
—U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), in an interview with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, July 26, 2020. [And they dare to call it the Party of Lincoln.]
“If chattel slavery…where it was legal to rape, torture, and sell human beings for profit — were a ‘necessary evil,’ …it’s hard to imagine what cannot be justified if it is a means to an end,”
—New York Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, in response to Cotton’s remarks, July 26, 2020. [Karl Rove and Grover Norquist long ago established “the ends justifies the means” as the Republican Party’s political mandate.]
“I just saw our new Trump-Reagan Commemorative Coin Sets and WOW, these coins are beautiful — I took one look and immediately knew that I wanted YOU to have a set.”
—Donald Trump, in true snake-oil salesman fashion, hawking the commemorative “coins” showing him shaking hands with Pres. Ronald Reagan back in 1987 in exchange for a $45 campaign “contribution.”
“We own the likeness of President Reagan and they used his image for the coin without our consent.”
—Reagan Foundation marketing officer Melissa Giller, in a request that the Trump campaign cease selling the coin, July 25, 2020.
“I won’t be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the Yankees on August 15th.”
–Trump tweet, July 26, at 2:44 p.m. [Those damned bone spurs, don’t you know.]
Gee, I never knew he had them in his wrists, as well. Bless his heart.
Does the Trump rant “knock the Hell out of him” cause concern. Trump loves and depends on violence. He said these very words during his campaign. The problem is that with the full support of this Republican Congress, he is feeling more enabled to use and encourage violence. This should be another good reason to rid America of Trump and the Party that he rode in on in the November election!
There was a concern a couple of days ago by one of the readers that our comments were “ridiculous fear mongering.” Personally I call that a trumped-up charge, but in response, here are two articles which should give us Americans pause to think. As most of you know, last week Putin called for and says he won a referendum that will keep him in power until 2036. Of course it was called something else…”Campaign literature made little mention of the real purpose of the referendum, framing it as a return to old-fashioned family values, designed to appeal to conservative voters.”

The other article from a couple of days ago by WAPO details the crackdown on journalists and others by the Russian regime. As well could happen here if tRump is reelected and which he would already be doing now if he could get away with it. The article is titled “Russia’s activists and independent journalists face new wave of crackdowns.”

As has been reported, tRump talks to Putin often. Wonder what they talk about.
Also, has anyone ever reported Donald Trump knocking the hell out of anyone? I suspect he would cower if ever in a position to be physically attacked.
Edith,
This is the “muscular, masculine” message his base understands. Yes, I am deeply disturbed by this language, but diplomacy is not one of Trump’s virutes (how many virtues does he have? Let me count the fingers in one hand, and I probably have five left over).
The first two quotes today have to do with the unidentified troops showing up in Portland (and previously in Washington, DC). This is VERY frightening to me! Putting together some facts and observations, I have come to the conclusion that we are probably seeing the beginning on an extremely dangerous constitutional crisis.
Facts/observations:
– Impeached trump and other Republicans often project their thinking on Democrats.
– Conservative news sources said that Obama was going to declare martial law and cancel the Presidential elections in 2012 and 2016 so he could remain President.
– I am told some news sources are saying the “federal agents” are actually mercenaries, which I think is supported by the lack of official uniforms and IDs.
Conclusion: Impeached trump is deploying hired thugs to masquerade as federal agents, and (this is my pure speculation) may have other hired thugs infiltrate the peaceful demonstrators, like the Boogaloo Boiz did early in the George Floyd demonstrations, to ensure that the demonstrations become more violent. He is building a case that the country is becoming so violent and out of control that martial law must be declared and the election must be postponed indefinitely. A true constitutional crisis.
I think we need to be figuring out how to stop this strategy before he can actually implement it. Maybe we need to start a letter writing campaign to the media so the media sunshine might stop this evil plan.
Wikipedia: Definition of Fascism:
Fascism is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.
Sound like anyone you know, who would try to cancel the election so he wouldn’t lose?
