“I’m speaking today as a physician who happens to be a doctor.”
—US Sen. Bill Cassidy, July 14, 2020. […and Louisiana’s other US senator speaks as the Tangerine Toddler’s sycophant who happens to be a tRump suck-up.]
Editor’s note: Inasmuch as the tRump White House is releasing what it smirkingly refers to as erroneous statements about the coronavirus by Dr. Anthony Fauci, it seems only appropriate to return the favor for the Tangerine Toddler:
Jan. 23: “We have it totally under control.”
Feb. 2: “We pretty much shut it down.”
Feb. 10: “Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away.”
Feb. 14: “We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12.
Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
Mar. 9: “The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power (it used to be greater!) to inflame the CoronaVirus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant. Surgeon General, ‘The risk is low to the average American.’”
Mar. 10: “We’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
Mar. 13: “I don’t take any responsibility at all.”
Mar. 15: “This is a very contagious virus. It’s incredible. But it’s something that we have tremendous control over.”
Mar. 16: “I’d rate it (hit handling of the pandemic) a 10,”
Mar. 17: “I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.”
‘We’re asking everyone to work at home, if possible, postpone unnecessary travel, and limit social gatherings to no more than 10 people.”
May 5: “I think they’re starting to feel good now. The country’s opening again. We saved millions of lives, I think.”
July 1: “We’re going to be very good with the coronavirus” and “at some point that’s going to sort of just disappear.”
July 8: “In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!”
July 14: “Think of this, if we didn’t do testing, instead of testing over 40 million people, if we did half the testing we would have half the cases,”
As Trump expressed his optimism over defeating coronavirus, even giving himself a grade of A+, the US has gone from its first confirmed case on Jan. 19 to the first death on Feb. 26 to more than 136,000 dead in less than five months.
So succinctly presented Mr. Aswell. And as Dana Milbank from the Washington Post said yesterday,
“Whenever you are asked to name the lowest moment of the Trump presidency, one answer is almost always correct: Tomorrow.
As the nation ricochets between chaos and calamity, the one reliable constant is the near certainty that things will get worse.
Abuse of power, flagrant disregard for American lives and racist provocations — all in 72 hours. I had long feared the country couldn’t survive another four years of Trump’s assaults. Now, I worry whether it can survive another 190 days.”
The only completely true statement among this group of absurdities:
Mar. 13: “I don’t take any responsibility at all.”
Also, it is important to note the statement by Dr. Fauci used in Trump’s smear campaign against him ignored what he said immediately after the sentence Trump and his people used – which was, in essence that things could change and change quickly.
As Dana Milbank said, day before yesterday, the one constant in Trump’s presidency is that tomorrow will be worse. As I’ve said before, I think that is by design. The more desensitized to his bizarre and dangerous actions we become, the better it bodes for him.
It will be interesting to see the reaction by the average American to his attempt to further roll back environmental regulations today. He is hoping the 1/3 in his base will love it and the rest of us will yawn. DON’T YAWN.
And Mr. Milbank added: “Abuse of power, flagrant disregard for American lives and racist provocations — all in 72 hours. I had long feared the country couldn’t survive another four years of Trump’s assaults. Now, I worry whether it can survive another 190 days.””
I wouldn’t expect much of a response to the next installment of the trump circus show. Whether people are desensitized (which I agree with you about), or that they actually support whatever today’s “issue” is; the only thing that is likely to happen is a continued barrage of insults lobbed at each other across social media and other impersonal outlets. I acknowledged that a substantive conversation about any of these issues has become virtually impossible, so I can see why people are fatigued by his antics. I know I am. I miss the days when I didn’t encounter his garbage every… single… day. Now, most days, I get up wondering how much longer it is until the vote, and have we finally learned that politicians have caused all of this mess.
The funny thing is; I used to be offended by the seemingly outrageous stuff that old crazy Joe used to say as the VP. It’s funny how perspective can change things.
George Will today: “Under the most frivolous person ever to hold any great nation’s highest office, this nation is in a downward spiral. This spiral has not reached its nadir, but at least it has reached a point where worse is helpful, and worse can be confidently expected.”
I am not growing “desensitized”. Every hour watching Trump’s carnage, I grow more and more determined that he must be voted out! I hope others are being motivated equally as well…
I would like to purchase masks if they are still available. Please send info to davidm4576@aol.com. Thank you.
The thought has occurred to me that the coronavirus is the price we have to pay to oust tRump from office. If it were not for the virus the economy could be humming along in his favor and he would stand a good chance of being reelected. As it is, the virus has exposed his incompetency to a startling degree, leaving no question that he is the worst president in American history and hopefully ensuring his defeat. I had no idea that as I have prayed for his removal from office God would respond this way. But maybe, there was no other way.
I admit to thinking the same – and then repressing it. Thanks for saying it.
