Trump has effectively destroyed the acceptance by his base of anything the mainstream media reports. That means the implications of this or any other story not praising him are lost on them. They anger us, but we were already mad so the rest of us are becoming desensitized – both things work to his advantage.
My first reaction is such concern for our military serving anywhere that Russia has a vested interest. My heart goes out to the family and friends of these valiant military service people as they realize that they have been under even more danger than was thought and America has known about it for months! How utterly frightening to even think that our President knows of this danger and claims to not know. How dangerous is it that if the President doesn’t know….then WHY doesn’t he know. Just when we think Trump cannot get any worse….he gets worse…but, this surely involves our national security? Senate Republicans, except for Romney, need to be held just as accountable as Trump and Putin for this!
And what is even more frightening is that we have almost seven more months left in his presidency and based on his past patterns it will almost certainly get worse. In my entire life I have never known anyone who cares only about himself/herself to such an extreme as tRump. Every day, every time I check the news I expect to read or hear about something he has uttered or done that plunges us further into being a third rate country or leaves our country’s security at greater risk or continues to destroy our democratic values.

I hope you are correct in the “seven more months” ( to me, more like a seven month itch, for I cannot wait). However, I am discouraged by the number of signs I see popping up in my neighborhood. His base will vote and support him no matter what; let’s hope that those on the other side (specifically younger than 30) show up Nov 3.. peaceful protests are fine, but they must be followed by action..if they don’t vote, their time, energy and effort would have been for naught.
Edith, you are correct. Our legislature enabled and abetted Jindal to bring this state to its knees, same is happening in DC. I am keeping track–the whole Louisiana Congressional representation (except Richmond), follow their leaders like lemmings to the sea..they serve an ideology. Where are the cojones? It is all about power; the Trump cult.
I am sure you have noticed that the Republican Legislators that enabled and supported Jindal were easily re-elected and have served the same destructive agenda as long as their term-limits allow. This tells us all we need to know about the nature of Louisiana politics and “the knowledge ain’t good for us!” Translate this Republican ownership to the national level and it affects all Americans. Therein lies our problem…unless enough folks vote them out and we can find a way to protect our election from foreign interference (up to and even changing votes in our antiquated voting machines & software). Wonder why McConnell has blocked the bills that would have prevented this and why there hasn’t been a constant public outcry against him for this action? It is way past time for some hard, cold public questioning of all of those who profess to serve we the people!
I see Iran has just issued an arrest warrant for tRump. I think we should hand him over today and spare us the remaining seven months.

In the last 6 months Trump has accelerated his defense of Putin and his long standing bromance. Putin is our friend he states. Trump will never back down on his adoration of Putin and has violated our national security. His republican congress has enabled his treasonous actions against this country, constitution and its citizens. Congress has to step up now and take formal action against this commander-in-chief. Will nothing be done until we are attacked militarily? We are under attack in our elections with technology we cannot sustain. We are under attack with coronavirus we cannot/will not accept or control by this administration. 7 months is a lifetime in politics.
