“I can’t argue with him, that kid is such a success. He is such a wit, he is such a genius. He would have made a fortune if he wasn’t under his father’s thumb. Game over. You can’t argue with a genius like that.
“The way this kid has risen in the business world and just taken it by storm. I would list all of Junior’s accomplishments right now, but I only have a three-hour show.
“He went on a safari and posed for a photo holding an elephant’s tail. You can’t argue with that kind of bravery. Even the guys in Afghanistan right now are going, ‘Jesus Christ, what a kid.’”
—Radio personality Howard Stern, on Donnie Trump, Jr.
“I do think it would be extremely patriotic of Donald to say, ‘I’m in over my head, and I don’t want to be president anymore.’ It’d be so patriotic that I’d hug him, and then I’d go back to Mar-a-Lago and have a meal with him and feel good about him because it would be such an easy thing to do.
“As far as Donald’s concerned, Donald thinks he’s the best president there ever was. I can honestly tell you that Donald doesn’t give one s**t about public service.
“It’s not your incredible reality TV show that you’re putting on for the country. It’s because we’re in crisis and we’re tuning in to see what the president has to say. We’re looking for leadership,”
—Howard Stern, on Donald Trump. [It’s important to note that Stern was once a close friend to Trump.]
Well….I guess this proves that Howard Stern has at least one working brain cell. But, obviously, he helped to create this TV Reality Show Miserable Failure President. At least Stern finally said what needs to be said over and over and over and over…So, for that, Thank you Mr. Stern!
I think Howard mixes serious commentary with satire and expects us to figure which is which. He did consider Trump high entertainment, similar in style to his own, but certainly not presidential. I do believe Howard would be a better president, but would have better sense than to aspire to it.
Trump obviously believes he is still in the entertainment business and is an actor playing the part of president. His audience is his base (interestingly the synonyms for audience are “cult, followship, following”). Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci once asked Trump if he was an “act.” Trump replied, “I am a total act and I don’t understand why people don’t get it.”
The cameras fulfill his desire for attention. He can portray himself as great at everything. He “stages” rallies for his audience to satisfy his craving for adulation. He has said “I’m not changing. I went to the best schools, I’m, like, a very smart person. I’m going to represent our country with dignity and very well. I don’t want to change my personality — it got me here.” (April 26, 2016)
Most of us can’t wait for the curtains to close for the last time so he can take his act back to the dressing room…forever.
