“I have tried and I have failed to find anything about Donald Trump that is admirable, respectable, decent, genuine, kind, altruistic, intelligent, capable, competent or sane. And I’ve tried. I want more than anything to find something truly good about this man that I can hold onto because I don’t like feeling this way towards another human being. I don’t like this unfamiliar feeling of insecurity, worry, fear that I’ll wake up one day soon to find my country and my children’s country just flat out destroyed. I don’t like not being able to find anything good about a person. But the way I feel about him right now is basically the way I felt about him 20-some years ago when I stopped watching his TV show because he was just too stupid, disrespectful, racist, sexist and mean for me to stomach.”
–Lynna Pinse Legal researcher, Make it Legal, on Donald Trump.
Ms. Pinse’s comments strike at the heart of why Donald Trump should not be President of the United States – his lack of humanity – and how he approaches everything as a result of it, focusing purely on himself. Supporters of the President either suffer this same lack of humanity, or they fail to see this as the essence of Donald Trump. Either way, this is a divide that cannot be bridged as long as he is president.
Tom I think you have O. D. on your hate pills today.
Uh, Jim…if you read the post carefully, you will see (and should understand) that those are not my words. I am simply posting what another, far wiser person than I, has observed about the Tangerine Toddler. Have a nice day.
This Ms. Pinse has done a great job of capturing the essence of Donald J. Trump in a very thoughtful, accurate and succinct way. In everyday language she has expressed the feelings all of us have about this reprehensible person. At least those of us who see clearly through this demagogue. I have come to a thorough understanding of the reasons Trump behaves the way he does due to the fact that physiatrists have done a great job of explaining him to us. I also understand the reasons the wealthy support him. He makes them wealthier.
But Jim, frankly, it is people like you, supporters of this agent provocateur, who I do not understand. Your blindness. Your gullibility. Your ignorance. Your susceptibility to the con man’s lies. Your reactionary views of the country and the world. And your apparent hatred of anyone who is not white. And when I use the word “your” I am referring to all those like you who share the same views. My friends. My relatives. Some readers of Louisiana Voice. Would you do us one small favor. Would you explain to us why you believe the way you do? What do you see in Trump that makes you think the man is exceptional?
Jim, here is an article from Salon dated April 2, 2020 and written by Chauncey DeVega on the Dunning-Krueger Effect and Pres. Trump which you might enjoy reading. I know I did.

Trump will be re-elected by a record number. Apparent most of the country thinks you and Windham are clueless shills.
I guess when you are a has been. You have to let someone to think for you. Go take some more hate pills.
Now, Jimbo, don’t be so nasty. That sounds like something Trump would say. Still, better a has-been than a never-was. What are your credentials, Jimbo?
But Jim…Jim! No one is twisting your arm or forcing you to come here to read Tom’s posts are they? Didn’t think so.
Way to keep the dialog on a higher plane, Jim. That comment, brief though it was, says so very much about you.
Tom’s going to have a helluva time wresting those hate pills from your grasp, Jim.
I have to say I have not taken any hate pills and, like Ms. Pinse, I do not enjoy the negative feelings I have about President Trump. I sincerely wish he was a good person and a good leader, but I see nothing to indicate he is. No president has been perfect, though some of our earlier ones came much closer than those in recent history. No president in my lifetime has come close to being as bad a person and as bad for our country as Donald Trump. Again, I wish this was not the case, but everything I see and hear from him tells me it is.
No hate pills here either, nor any of the “other” diagnoses that Trump supporters like to confer on their political opponents (TDS, unpatriotic, disloyal, treason, et al). For my part, I’ve never had a poorer opinion of a human before this man. Just like Ms Pince, that opinion is nearly the same as it was before his 2016 campaign.
While it has been difficult to watch sane, rational, compassionate people I know that criticized his behavior before the election, now parrot his propaganda. I remind myself that, contrary to Trumps mantra, those family and friends are not the enemy… and they are not my opponents. I will never let a politician drive a wedge between us, no matter how hard he tries. They are still the good people that I know them to be, and I will continue to regard them this way long after his ability to influence them is terminated. That truly is one of the best parts of our current system of leadership… it is temporary. His relationship with them will last only as long as he needs their vote. Mine is for a lifetime.
That, sir, is the most rational, most well thought-out, best-articulated comment that has ever appeared on this site. You have cut through all the B.S. to get to what really matters in this life—family and friends. All else is superfluous.
Thank you for your wise words.
