If Trump had run the Manhattan Project….
“After two months, he would have congratulated himself for a ‘phenomenal job,’ wound down his atomic task force and left the whole nuclear thing to the states.
“Texas would compete with Florida for uranium, while New Jersey and Ohio bid up plutonium prices.
“New York, making bombs, wouldn’t be in touch with Washington state, which would be retrofitting the B-29 without specs.
“Robert Oppenheimer, complaining about the lack of coordination, would be demoted and denied whistleblower protection.
“The bombs wouldn’t work properly in tests, the bombers would take off without enough fuel,
“Trump would blame the governor of Michigan — and we’d all be speaking Japanese.”
—Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank, May 6, 2020.
I have always liked Dana Milbank’s articles and this one just about says it all….however, our “history challenged American citizens” won’t have the faintest idea what he is talking about….sadly!
While reading that column yesterday, I thought he made a great analogy. But my thoughts as I read through it were that we would have been defeated by the Japanese long before the nuclear bomb was in it’s infancy. No coordinated and united front would have existed under Trump to fight land, sea, and air battles against the enemy. Turmoil and disconnect would have been part of his administration as it is today along with the utter incompetents he would have put in charge. And I suspect he would have tried to get chummy with Hitler and let England and Russia be the last defenders against the Nazis.
Now really CJ ?? Do you really think Trump would have sat there after Pearl Harbor?? After Adolf Hitler declared war on USA ?!!? That is so far beneath you, and you should be ashamed.
I will say this – I wish that Germany had conquered Russia and overthrown Stalin before we invaded Europe….things would be a lot different today.
