“I don’t know what the governor of Maryland is doing in South Korea. The governor of Maryland didn’t really understand. He didn’t really understand what was going on.”
–Donald Trump, in his April 21, 2020, criticism of Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s acquisition of 500,000 coronavirus tests from South Korea after his telling the states that they essentially were on their own and to not rely on the federal government.
“I have a pretty good understanding of what’s going on and I appreciate the information that was provided by his team. The administration made it clear over and over again they want the states to take the lead.”
Republican Gov. Larry Hogan, responding to Trump’s defensive rant.
“The United States was once known for its can-do culture. We built the Panama Canal and we put a man on the moon. And now we can’t get a swab or a face mask or a gown and we have no real chain of command. And we have two Americas, a Republican one and a Democratic one, and they won’t collaborate. We are not leading in the pandemic response, we are trailing other countries by a long shot. This is a crippling blow to America’s prestige around the world.”
–Historian Douglas Brinkley of Rice University, on the nation’s inadequate response to the coronavirus pandemic, April 21, 2020.
All of which begs the obvious questions:
- Is it humanly possible for Trump to not blame someone–anyone–else for his blunders (which would be comical were the consequences not so severe)?
- Must everything be about Trump (as opposed say, to making at least a few things about cooperation, progress, and some faint signs of leadership?)
- Is it remotely possible to have just a hint of consistency from this administration?
I think I would settle (at this low point) for the president of these United States to say a few words of comfort to the families who have lost loved ones and for those that have died without loved ones and for the unbelievable sacrifice our medical community & first responders are giving us every hour. Just a few words….maybe just a written remark….something….yet, we tolerate getting nothing about these deaths & sacrifices from the president of these United States….shame on us!
But when it’s read from a script like a third-grader reading from a primer, with no pauses for punctuation or voice inflection (as opposed to a heart-felt expression of sentiment–like his spontaneously telling a reporter to shut up), any such expression would be devoid of any real meaning. The man is simply incapable of displaying any real expression of compassion.
Look up the characteristics of being a sociopath.
The following is a direct quote from “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump” by Bandy Lee (2019) – 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.
“Pathological narcissism begins when people become so addicted to felling special that, just like with any drug, they’ll do anything to get their ‘high,’ including lie, steal, cheat, betray, and even hurt those closest to them.
Trump is in the “realm of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). People with NPD have a strong need, in every area of their life, to be treated as if they’re special. To those with NPD, other people are simply mirrors, useful only insofar as they reflect back the special view of themselves they so desperately long to see. If that means making others look bad by comparison, so be it. Because life is a constant competition, they’re also usually riddled with envy over what other people seem to have.
At the heart of NPD is what I call Triple E:
Entitlement, acting as if the world and other people owe them should bend to their will.
Exploitation, using the people around them to make themselves feel special, no matter what the emotional or even physical cost to others (batter away at their self-esteem or running them into the ground with late-night work projects).
Empathy-impairment, neglecting and ignoring the needs and feelings of others, ever of those closest to them, because their own need to feel special is all that matters” – End of quote
And in my words, the chances of Trump changing are slim to none, with slim having left town.
Well… the Chaos has been consistent, lol.
agree with CJG, well reported and documented thanks ron thompson 9 ( I remembered 34 not 37 ) I didn’t need their explanation. having known several NPD thanks
