“it’s supposed to be our stockpile — it’s not supposed to be state stockpiles that they then use,”
—Jared Kushner, protesting the release of ventilators held by FEMA to states hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. [We’re not exactly sure what he meant by “our stockpile.” We apparently have been under the misconception that FEMA exists to help us during crises.]
The FEMA website on Friday morning described the Strategic National Stockpile as “the nation’s largest supply of life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for use in a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out.” The website further said on Friday morning, “When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency.”
By noon Friday, the website’s wording had been mysteriously changed to say, “The Strategic National Stockpile’s role is to supplement state and local supplies during public health emergencies. Many states have products stockpiled, as well. The supplies, medicines, and devices for life-saving care contained in the stockpile can be used as a short-term stopgap buffer when the immediate supply of adequate amounts of these materials may not be immediately available.”
Not fulfilling your mission? Change it. Simple, like our leader believes us to be..
Speaking of stockpiles, I would like to ask Trump supporters the following questions:
1. You are watching Trump’s Coronavirus Task Force Daily Briefing on national TV. A reporter asks the president a question he finds “nasty.” He reaches into his coat pocket, pulls out a gun, shoots and kills the reporter. Would you still support the president?
2. The daily count of people dying from Coronavirus in the U.S. on a daily basis is near a thousand. During his daily “briefing” Trump tells people the danger is over and they should all resume their daily duties, stop social distancing, start the NFL season, go to restaurants, malls, churches, and any other large gathering they want to attend. Dr. Fauci steps up to the podium and warns people that doing so would likely kill twice the current number of people. Would you still support the president?
3. Louisiana continues to lead the nation in new cases of Coronavirus with the death rate the highest in the country. The state has a shortage of over fifteen thousand ventilators. Based on a whistle blowers complaint that was leaked, the news media reports that the federal government, through various and nefarious means, has stockpiled over two hundred thousand ventilators. The governor pleads with the president for more ventilators. The president tells him he can send 500. The stockpile, the president says, is “ours.” Would you still support the president?
4. The unemployment rate in the country has reached 20%. Without jobs or money, people are desperate. The House passes another rescue package. The Senate dawdles, but after unrelenting pressure, also passes the bill. The president, however, with his businesses going under, will not sign it because it prevents his or any of his family’s businesses from getting any loans or bailout money. Would you still support the president?
I am curious as to how far your support for this president extends. Predicated on the conjectures above, would you still continue to support the president? A simple yes or no would be sufficient.
Sadly….from what I read on Trump supporter Facebook posts, the answer would be a resounding “YES” they would still support Trump, mostly because they will never get the stark information that you give…they only process information thru the Trump propaganda machine (FOX, etc.)….therein lies our problem….along with the very disturbing fact that McConnell and his Republican Senate has blocked bills to protect our elections from Russian interference….I find that there has not been a huge public outcry about this equally disturbing. We are in one “unholy” mess!
Remember the infamous declaration, “I could shoot someone on Fifth Ave and not lose any voters.” ? I think we are hearing those virtual shots being fired, and “the base” stepping over the bodies to line up behind their bloviator in chief.
YES. because he is my and YOUR president.
Wait, Jim….are you saying that just because a person is elected president….no matter how despicable, unlawful, dysfunctional and destructive that president’s actions are….we have to give that person unquestioned loyalty? Is this what you are saying? Then, for God’s sake, why do we have a Constitution and traditions that encourage us to question a president under our democratic process? You described life under an absolute dictator. We are not there yet and you should be questioning your “YES” answer. Did you feel the same when Obama was President? And, rest assured, many Democrats, including myself, questioned actions by Obama and his Administration.
Wow, just wow.
And there’s your answer, CJG. The mentality of the typical Trumpster is “support him no matter what simply because he’s the president.” It’s the old doctrine of sovereign immunity that says the king can do no wrong.
The same laws that apply to you and me do not apply to Trump because he’s president. Jim and his fellow Trumpsters have elevated a misogynist crook to the level of a deity with seven words: “because he is my and YOUR president.”
If those seven words do not encapsulate the philosophy of Trump supporters in general and the Republican Party in particular, nothing does.
Jim’s answer shows indisputably that there is no length Trump’s supporters will not go to support him, even to the extent of cold-blooded murder [see question number 1 by CJG].
Thanks, Jim. You have just validated our worst fears.
Amen!!
I’m curious, Jim. Would you offer that same answer to those same questions if Obama were president?
And do try to be honest with your answer.
Today under a news story headlined “Fauci says we are struggling to get the coronavirus under control,” a Twitter comment saying, “Fire him. He continues to contradict our president and hurting his reelection chances (sic).” Real smart guy.
Last time I checked, the president is not the pope and thus is not infallible, and political dissent is the most American of leisure activities (think the Boston tea party and the American Revolution, for starters).
I’ll consider the idea that trump might be president of all of us as soon as you, Zoe, Fairness, Outlaw, etc., all admit that yes, President Obama was the fairly-elected, 100 percent American, well educated, gainfully employed, decent human, completely faithful husband and devoted father of well behaved children, president of all Americans. Deal?
Realizing they will never clamp eyes on it, I sent the following (which I lifted from an email from a friend in Texas) to our U. S. Senators this morning:
Can you honestly deny any of the following?
That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought “Fine.”
That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, “Okay.”
That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said, “No problem.”
That when he made up stories about seeing Muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, “Not an issue.”
That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn’t care, you chirped, “He sure knows me.”
That when you heard him brag that he doesn’t read books, you said, “Well, who has time?”
That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn’t commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said, “That makes sense.”
That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought, “Yes!”
That when you heard him tell one rally crowd to confiscate a man’s coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said, “What a great guy!”
That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they’re supposed to be regulating and you have said, “What a genius!”
That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said, “That’s smart!”
That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was in the middle of water and you have said, “That makes sense.”
That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, “falling in love” with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said, “That’s statesmanship!”
In case anybody comes back to this, here is the body of an email Senator Cassidy’s computer spit out in response to the above:
Dear Mr. Winham:
Thank you for taking the time to write to me to express your concerns about President Trump. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the issue.
The founding fathers designed the three branches of government to provide checks and balances on each other. One of my most important roles as a Senator is to fulfill that responsibility by making sure the President is abiding by the Constitution and is not abusing his executive authority. This is true regardless of the political party of the President and is a task I do not take lightly. I will continue to satisfy the roles of Senator outlined by the Constitution and will continue to work diligently for the betterment of the people of Louisiana.
I will continue to represent the views of my state and do so through hearing from constituents like you. Please continue to reach out, either by phone or by email, when you have another question or concern. You can reach my office in Washington DC at 202-224-5824 or submit an email at https://www.cassidy.senate.gov/contact .
Sincerely,
Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.

At least it was responsive on the correct subject. Note that the computer does not accept responses to its messages.
You right Loseup I could be your worst fear.
You’ll never change the minds of people like Jim and others who choose to support a misfit like Trump. They’re cut from the same cloth.
Amen!!!!
Jim is a troll..he does not give sound arguments for his blind support, but then again, not many Trumpsters do..after all, they deny science and reason. Unfortunately, I have them in my family as well and know what discussions to avoid.
Okay, I will attempt to respond to some of these posts,
OH, so “Trumpsters deny science ? Are the Republicans the ones endorsing abortion (murder) by saying an illegal alien has “citizen” rights when an infant has no right to life ? The “Trumpsters are the ones who deny science by belief that there are only two sexes ? Trumpsterts are being condemned because they believe in “binary sexes” ? You sir do not have a clue about science, and I will match my knowledge against you any day, any time.
CJG: Certainly no one would support shooting a person asking a question. How absurd.Mayor DeBlasio, Gov Cuomo, Nancy Pelosi among others were as recently as March, telling people to go out and enjoy their lives, to live normally. DeBlasio now says we need a government like China and ignore their rights (I watched the tapes just last night on CNN interviews). Nancy invited people to Chinatown to crowd up and watch parades. Are needs in Louisiana more iportent than needs in Montana ? Central distribution requires rationed distribution (now all of the sudden Dems who were for ObamaCare are suddenly opposed to rations). The emergency funding was NOT bottled up by the Senate, but by PIGS at the trough dems led by Nancy P to place [pork in the bill. Why was funding for Kennedy Center of such sudden importance ? Airplane carbon footprint ? The woman is not responsible. Yes, I support him, but he has not shot a reporter yet, although when I watch people like Don Lemon, Rachel Maddow, Morning Joe, I would love to lap them upside of the head as they are NOT journalists or reporters even though they claim to be.I hope I have answered your query.
Edith. Are you still spouting the nonsense about Russian interference ? The Russians have been trying to disrupt our nation since the 1940’s. This is nothing new. Until you can show me a single vote that was influenced by Russia, China, or Iran, please refrain from the blather. You just stereotype people and presume that if they disagree with your fantasy, they are robots. You are not ever looking back over the fence at yourself. You should try a little introspection.
Stephen. Yes, Trump is guilty of some of this. Let’s see; the University – wasn’t Bill and Hill involved in an international university scam that fleeced millions ? I wonder, you see a man who is a billionaire when he entered the White House but will leave it in 2024 with less wealth, who has not accepted a dollar of salary, and you see people like Joe Biden, Clinton’s, Obama’s, Pelosi’s, Feinstein, Boxer, Reid, McConnel, Sanders etc. enter office poor and leave with net worth of millions on a government salary, how do you rationalize your thought process ? I have watched many politicians say and do things I disagree with. What really bothers me is their flagrant abuse of position when they and family members enrich themselves at our expense.Stephen, are you aware that the bulk of regulation placed by government is done to HELP certain people make money under the guise of helping the general public,,,,,,,,,,
In my opinion, the most civil of our recent Presidents were the Bush’s. Both were honorable men. I also think they were awful Presidents.
And again I ask; What part of the Democrat platform are any of you guys so supportive ? And who should be elected to implement that policy ? At least Stephen admitted he will vote for the Biden crime syndicate, senility not withstanding. Edith, DJ, CJ, Wild ?
No, Ms. Zoe you did not answer my query. You waltzed all around it. Let me repeat the question: Predicated on the conjectures above, would you still continue to support the president? Yes or no?
CJ, I know you can read. I answered pretty clearly in my very first sentence to you..I reiterated that fact again later in the same paragraph. Please take the time to read and consider what I have said. I do as much for you.
And Angelo, Earth I do not consider my response superfluous in any way. To sit around and say you cannot stand someone and then have no clear alternative….that is superfluous. The fact is, someone must be President. To say I do not like so and so because he fake tans or is obnoxious but to have zero alternative…..well, that is illogical. Truth be known, I think you are embarrassed to admit you support Biden, or Hillary, or Sanders because each of them are indefensible and totally inept, corrupt, and totally incapable of service to this nation.Sanders sadly is the only one of them who could stand up to Trump on a debate stage, but then, he is a communist and totally unacceptable.
Zoe, I think I speak for most of those who oppose Trump here. It’s not an either-or between the Republicans and the Democrats; it’s just that we cannot stand Trump. You need to try and understand that. We’re not trying to draw comparisons between Trump and the Bushes or Obama or Clinton or anyone else. We’re not putting up the platforms of the Democrats of Republicans. It’s purely a matter of WE CANNOT STAND TRUMP. Anything other points you attempt to bring to the table are superfluous.
WE CANNOT STAND TRUMP!!!!!
Got it, Zoe? Outlaw? Fairness? WE CANNOT STAND TRUMP!!!!!!
Angelo, to help you drive home the point to Zoe, Outlaw, Fairness, et al:
What part of “WE CANNOT STAND TRUMP!!!!!” do you not understand?
The governors should tell the Trumpster-in-law keep “your” stockpile, return “our” money that we send to you. Then we can create our own stockpiles.
Great point, Clifford!!
