“When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done,” Trump said at the time. “We have it so well under control. I mean, we really have done a very good job.”
–Donald Trump, Feb. 26, 2020
“If we could hold that down, as we’re saying, to 100,000, that’s a horrible number, maybe even less, but to 100,000 — so we have between 100- and 200,000 — we altogether have done a very good job,”
–Donald Trump, March 29, 2020.
“You can’t spin a pandemic. People are sick. People are dying. The media is covering the grim reality of the pandemic and the government’s response, which was laggard. This enrages him.”
–David Axelrod, Barack Obama’s former senior adviser, on Trump, Sunday, March 26.
President Trump now says that he knew how bad the coronavirus could be — he just didn’t want to tell Americans. “I knew it could be horrible, and I knew it could be, maybe, good,” he said Tuesday evening (March 31, 2020) at a White House briefing. “ … I want to give people a feeling of hope.”
Again, I put it to Outlaw and others who support the President’s actions: Is false hope the way to handle a crisis? Was his gut feeling (apparently, since there was no evidence to support it) that “it could be, maybe, good” enough reason?
I wonder if that is what he wanted to do when he said his marriage vows — give that particular number bride a feeling of “hope” that he might be faithful.
Winham yes we have hope. You got Joe. LOL
I have hope, as well, just not false hope. Stay healthy.
If Trump thinks that standing in front of the cameras for the WH Coronavirus Task Force Briefings and providing false information gives me a feeling of hope, he is a dead wrong. A “briefing?” Ha! He has an hour long rambling monologue pretending to be some actor on a Hollywood movie set playing the role of a “war general,” lying and confusing the public with his inaccuracies. But then, he is not trying to convince me or others like me. He is targeting his worshipers who attend his church, listen to his “aspirational” falsehoods, and believe everything the “prophet” has told them.
Yes, I have hope. Hope that the CV will crest soon and head in a downward trend. Hope that we will find a vaccine much faster than anticipated. Hope that Joe will be our next President and provide the leadership we need for the country. Hope that our current rudderless occupant of the WH will not do any more damage than he has already. As the Boston Globe editorial said yesterday about his leadership, “the president has blood on his hands.” He makes me want to wash my hands not only of the CV, but of the stink he spews from his mouth.

Very sad. I get that you have a strong dislike of Trump. I have asked, what exactly about the Democrat Party platform impresses you ?
False hope Stephen ? Would you prefer “gloom and doom ? The President should be out there giving people hope. Do you want him to say everyone is going to die ?
Truth be told, no matter what Trump says, you disagree. Blood on his hands ? This coming from the party that brought us Benghazi ?I guess if Trump just played golf and went to fundraisers like another recent President, you would be happy ?
Glad to have you back in the conversation Ms. Zoe. I did agree with Trump when he accused China of stealing our intellectual properties. Other than that, you’re right. No matter what he has said so far, I disagree. No point in my commenting about Trump and golf…we all know the extent of his expensive trips to Mar-a-Lago. Or about how he has turned the CV briefings into campaign rallies. Or, well…the list goes on and on.
Zoe…..how about the preference for a president that doesn’t lie all of the time about everything. You failed to address this dysfunction and how dangerous it is for our president to lie to us all of the time. As for playing golf….please count up Trump’s golf trips and his never-ending campaign rallies. How can a president do good for all of the people when he is constantly campaigning on how awful and terrible and bad and mean the Democratic Party is….of course, McConnell has been doing this long before Trump. But, please explain why you never seem to mind being lied to? Which one of his lies do you believe? Your honest answer to this would be fascinating…
Correction, Zoe: it wasn’t the Democratic Party that “brought us Benghazi.” It was Hillary’s State Dept. Blaming the entire Democratic Party is like blaming Dallas for JFK, blaming the entire NFL for the blown no-call in the Saints-Rams playoff game of 2018, like blaming the entire Republican Party for David Duke.
But Trump was warned well in advance of the potential danger of COVID-19 and yet he did nothing. We lost four lives at Benghazi. As of today, more than 4,000 Americans have died from coronavirus – many of whom may not have had to die had Trump taken steps when first told of the threat last December.
So yes, he has blood on his hands.
The entire Republican Party is not David Duke? Huh…
Zoe,
When we are discussing impeached trump, you very frequently bring up Biden. One could conclude that you realize impeached trump is a disaster, you just think Biden is worse.
However, so many of the things you write, particularly about Democrats, are so ridiculously wrong that it is clear you also really believe impeached trump is a good president, in spite of the abundant evidence otherwise.
You also keep saying we dislike impeached trump. I think most rational people don’t dislike someone as pathetic as impeached trump. We are just very upset about the damage he is doing to our country and the Constitution.
But until you realize that your sources are lying to you, telling you not to trust other sources because if you did you would know they are lying, repeating their lies again and again and again and again to brainwash you into believing them. Until you accept that what I am saying is true and you start cleansing your mind of the lies that have been pounded into it, we can’t have an actual discussion.
We will not be happy until impeached trump is out of office and we can start undoing the damage he has done.
By the way, I keep saying impeached trump to remind you that he has broken many laws and the House found him guilty of a few of those crimes. Unfortunately, the Republicans in the Senate dishonored themselves and the Constitution by holding a sham trial, ignoring the facts that were never disputed.

Check out Larry Romanoff. Global Research for a perspective that makes sense if you consider that 9/11 was an event orchestrated by the Bush administration & cohorts. Asserts that virus was developed in USA. DNA taken
from Wuhan resident 19 years earlier. About 5 strains-all loose in USA. N Italy being punished because it would not relinquish control over its economics to the EU. Iran getting theirs because it is whipping child. Check out Romanoff and see things in a different light. He’s an ace researcher

Zoe, you probably don’t want to go there:
