“President Trump is a ratings hit. Since reviving the daily White House briefing, Mr. Trump and his coronavirus updates have attracted an average audience of 8.5 million on cable news, roughly the viewership of the season finale of The Bachelor. Numbers are continuing to rise.
“On Monday, nearly 12.2 million people watch Mr. Trump’s briefing on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, according to Nielson—Monday Night Football numbers. Millions more are watching on ABC, CBS, NBC, and online streaming sites and the audience is expanding. On Monday Fox News alone, attracted 6.2 million viewers for president’s briefing—an astounding number for a 6 p.m. cable broadcast, more akin to the viewership for a popular prime time sitcom.”
—DONALD TRUMP TWEETS [inappropriate on so many levels], of March 30, even as Americans were dying of the coronavirus. [If any doubts existed that everything’s all about him, they were laid to rest with these tweets.]
I watch for two reasons: 1. To hear some professional information that I can depend on from the professionals on the team. 2 To hear just how deranged and un-presidential Trump is becoming. I cannot follow his unfinished sentences. I cannot abide his stupid insults and arguments as to why he must be appreciated and obeyed. I cannot abide his feeble attempts at empathy because his staff convinced him to show more….truth: I am watching this slow slide into the swamp in morbid fascination and question how will this end. Alas, I guess I am adding to his beautiful numbers….sigh!
Hey, if your own rules preclude huuuuuge rallies, what better way to campaign than using a disaster? Actually, even better.
Speaking of rallies and coronavirus, here’s a little item some might find of interest:
Headline: Trump administration sent protective medical gear to China while he minimized the virus threat to US
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/29/opinions/coronavirus-personal-protective-equipment-obeidallah/index.html
Since this reports easily verified FACTS, I only have 2 questions:
1. Why is it presented as an opinion piece rather than a major news story ?
2. Why is it not a major news story? [imagine such a thing happening in any previous administration – all the media would have been on it like ducks on June bugs]
I guess we have to consider the source – the network the President would like everyone to believe is the number one source of “fake news” – and many, including some posting here, no doubt do. Even if you consider them biased (I don’t and,as a matter of fact, find them bending over backwards to not seem to be) FACTS are FACTS, just like the FACT the tweets cited here were tweeted by the President of the United States of America.
Question: What will happen when none of us trust any source of news? Will we all have to make everything up? Or, equally dangerous, should we all trust one person and his preferred news sources, Fox and OANN and dismiss every other source as purely fake?

Maybe not appropriate to this trend, but sobering.
