“…[S]hould you fail to immediately cease broadcasting PUSA’s ad “Exponential Threat”, Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. will have no choice but to pursue all legal remedies available to it in law and in equity; we will not stand idly by and allow you to broadcast false, deceptive, and misleading information concerning President’s Trump’s healthcare positions without consequence.”
—Cease and desist letter of March 25, 2020, from Alex W. Cannon, Esq., Special Counsel, Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., demanding that Priorities USA Action Fund (PUSA) pull its television ad featuring the sound bites of Trump—and Trump only—discussing the coronavirus crisis, from early denials and claims that it was a Democratic hoax designed to bring down his presidency to claims that he was aware it was a pandemic before anyone ever called it a pandemic. [Sometimes the truth really does hurt. Of course, Trump, who has been involved in about 3500 lawsuits, and Devin Nunes sue or threatens to sue every time they change underwear. Guess they’d be coming after LouisianaVoice next if we had a larger audience.]
And yet, “false, deceptive, and misleading information” is exactly what Trump does every day when he speaks at his daily coronavirus briefings. So false and dangerous that CNN and MSNBC have stopped carrying them live.
To be sure, CNN and MSNBC would never air anything false, misleading, or an outright lie. Of course Rachel Maddow or Don Lemon might skew that variable into a knot….along with every other reporter, newscaster, or other faux “journalist” on staff at either “institution”. Webster’s dictionary adopted “fake news” as a moniker for the year 2017…and the definition of that term is…surprise, surprise…CNN!
CNN and MSNBC should have their news credentials pulled. They report nothing without an editorial input, which is far left, and is not news but an editorial. And do so be design. At least FOX generally puts people of both liberal and conservative bias on at each story.produced. Never see a neutral or conservative position on CNN/MSNBC.. Lemon, Cuomo, Maddow have lowered the bar for “journalism” to a point where an ant could not walk under the bar. I watch Rachel when I am in need of a good laugh.
Again, Outlaw, this was a video of Trump speaking; his own words from his own mouth, unedited. Just the unvarnished Trump. This wasn’t something concocted by CNN, Rachel Maddow, or Don Lemon or even the Democratic Party. It was Trump.
I’ll say it again. It was not someone saying what Trump said; it was Trump. So please, don’t try to cloud the issue with a superfluous smokescreens.
Webster defined fake news as CNN? Sorry, but I’m calling you out on that. Prove it. One fake news link to Webster I found was this:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/the-real-story-of-fake-news
and, surprise, surprise, it traces the origin of the term to the 19th century. Wow.
Here’s another:
https://time.com/4959488/donald-trump-fake-news-meaning/
This says Webster does not have a definition for the term and is “unlikely to add one…”
Double wow.
In fact, Webster said that Trump’s claim to coin the phrase is itself fake news:
https://www.latimes.com/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-fake-news-20171009-story.html
Triple wow. Outlaw, your credibility is in serious jeopardy.
Never see a neutral or conservative position on CNN/MSNBC.
Yes they have had people of a conservative position Zoe. Nicolle Wallace, former member of the George W. Bush admin has a daily show on MSNBC called Deadline Whitehouse Was a card-carrying Republican until the current President. She frequently has Charlie Sykes and Rick Wilson on her show. Again former Republicans until the current President.
The ad may be viewed here:

There is NOTHING here that was not said by President Trump on the timeline shown. That being the case, I guess Tom and anybody else can, be subject to frivolous lawsuits intended to keep them from repeating, exactly, and in context, the unaltered words of anybody. Tom jokes about this, but it’s implications are not funny.
It’s hard to argue that the messages are false when the words come straight from trump and his people.
Here’s the ad by the group Republicans for the Rule of Law:

Here’s the ad by PUSA – Priorities USA:
oops, wrong link on the PUSA ad. Very sorry, I’ll try to find the correct one,
Agree. It is a way of life with Jindalites and Trumpites and of course with our Republican delegation in Congress.Think I will write another letter to Graves, Abraham, and Johnson, gives me a little relief from my honey do chores. ron thompson
Plaintiff in Chief by Jim Zirin distinguished attorney and journalist paints a telling portrait of a personality in disarray. Eats litigation for lunch.Weaponizes the law. Clearly this is more bluster from the bug averse purveyor of Covid 19. If they do sue it will be dropped. The case-as is Potus Trump-is utterly without merit. In many cases-such as the discrimination in housing where he hooked up with conniver Roy Cohn-they fought and ultimately settled-as had been advised by less belligerent lawyers. They fought to promote the Trump brand. The image of a tough take no prisoners guy. Truth. Integrity. Justice mean nothing. All front. Apparently Trump was a decent baseball player in his svelte youth. Maybe a game can be arranged with Rep Scalise. He has tasted the fruits of high stakes low ball.
