“Can somebody point to the conservative on the ballot? What do you mean, Rush? Are you admitting Trump is not a conservative? Damn right I am.”
—Rush Limbaugh, attacking Donald Trump’s candidacy in a two-way conversation with himself on his radio show in 2016. [Trump would award Limbaugh with the Congressional Medal of Freedom in 2020. Trump is lagging behind Limbaugh, who has been married five times–four times to women and once to Oxycontin.]
There are many Republicans that have done this exact same thing…Lindsey Graham comes to mind. Some day we may find out what Trump used to bring ALL of the Republicans that called him out for exactly what he was into his loyal cult following….was it just money? Was it blackmail? Was it a Party decision to use the “Useful Idiot?” Was it a combination of everything. If we ever find this out, we will have a study on how quickly a dictator can gain power…I just cannot find any good thing about Trump and those that support him…
Edith, frankly, I do not care one tiny bit whether you can find any good thing about me, as I am a supporter of the President.. You sound like a petty, bitter, small minded person who can just sit around and complain about the “old white man” (wonder what you say about Biden/Sanders) while not offering a single positive or constructive thing.
I am anxious to hear what you find so positive in the Democrat Party platform and its’ candidates.Maybe it is the granting of benefits to illegal aliens. Maybe it is the goal of open borders i.e. no more USA (no border, no country). Maybe it is funding for Planned Parenthood, proud of its’ 345,000 abortions last year, maybe it is about transgender issues, maybe the abortion up to birth, maybe the change in criminal law that makes petty crime a charge that one will not be arrested for, maybe it is removal of first and second amendment rights, maybe it is free medical care for all (socialization of 1/3 of our economy and sure path to bankruptcy), maybe it is the cowtow to China, Iran etc. Maybe it is the desire to allow criminal illegal aliens right to not be deported , or maybe it is the promotion of sanctuary cities/states. Maybe it the love of politicians (Schumer,Obama, Clinton etc.)who have all changed positions 180 degrees because Trump has said the same thing as they all have. I could go on, but you get my drift.
As for the Republican politicians who bashed Trump and now support him; is not a cult, is not blackmail, and if there is a useful idiot out there, that would be Biden. Where do you get dictator in this? Name a single act.
Works both ways zoe.
And here’s a bit of info for you on immigrants, both legal and illegal and what benefits they may receive.
https://www.ajc.com/news/national/immigration-can-undocumented-immigrants-get-federal-public-benefits/nyks4aB0PtTbbwVP9GyogI/
Why do you keep repeating the debunked stuff that Democrats support “open borders”, granting benefits to illegal immigrants (aliens come from outer space), and talk about kowtowing….remember when Trump fell in love with the vicious dictator KIM of N. Korea, or how when Trump is around Putin he turns into a simpering wimp that denies his own intel agencies’ info on Putin? Look, you have just fired off a boat load of nonsense. I am not sure what ticked you off but your bullying, name calling and rabid misinformation does not substitute for facts. Dictators declare that the news media is “fake,” dictators claim they have all powerful rights, dictators enrich themselves under the guise of public service. This is the short list of Dictator acts by Trump. Perhaps you do not know how dictators act and how they accomplish their power grabs? However, I concede that you suffer from exactly the same problem that Barr, Miller, McConnell, Graham, etc….except Romney. Blind loyalty to a worthless old man, who happens to be president! I realize that you will not change….
Zoe, those who dislike an elected official are not petty, bitter or small minded – just not in agreement with that official, which I believe is a First Amendment right of all Americans. I’d bet you were not a fan of President Obama and probably made some pithy comments about him – did you complain about him because he was a “young black guy”? No one is complaining about trump because he’s old and white – there’s plenty of other things to dislike about trump, so that’s just a ridiculous idea. (My husband is old and white and so are a lot of people we know and love, so that’s not an issue.)
I’m also guessing that you don’t know a lot of Democrats. You have certainly bought the conservative narrative about what the Democratic Party and individual Democrats believe from your lengthy litany of “beliefs.” I won’t respond to each one, but I’ll tell you this: undocumented aliens are not eligible for federal benefits except certain people (like registered DACA recipients) under certain emergency circumstances where life and public safety are involved; no one supports “open borders;” no one gets pregnant with the intention of saying “whoopee, now I get to have an abortion!”; there is no such thing as elective abortion right before birth (much less after); most Democrats I know don’t ask anyone to confirm their gender before using a public restroom, and don’t care what gender someone else identifies with as long as everyone is treated with dignity, respect and decency; most of the Democrats I know are gun owners; the First Amendment gives you, me, and Tom the right to express ourselves freely and to practice the religion of our choice, and is thus central to a belief in individual and person freedom; Medicare, which is the very model of socialized medicine in the US, is not free, we pay into it through a payroll tax during our working years and pay a modest monthly premium once retired and covered by it, which is the idea behind M4A. And anyone who thinks that “if you can’t pay for healthcare you can just die,” as I have been told by several not-Democrats, is beyond selfish and redemption. Come to central America with our mission team and see how people suffer and die from a lack of medical care for lack of resources. And, most of the Democrats I know are deeply religious and attend Christian churches and synagogues, are teachers, work in the helping professions, do volunteer work to assist the less advantaged, and believe in the value and dignity of all people.
Like many of the Democratic women I know, I am white, married to a man, a mother, (not a “sperm-bank-using-lesbian”) a church-going Christian and mission team member, gun owner, carbon fuel car owner, omnivore (yep, we eat meat). Also a feminist (definition: any person who believes in the equality of all people), social justice advocate, have worked outside the home for over 40 years, have raised our children to be independent and to think for and support themselves…pretty much like you and the people you know. Not long ago, a man I met at a political town hall meeting was shocked – shocked! – to find out I am a Democrat, because he said I “look so normal.” Then he shouted some socialistic demands at the elected official, and we both got a good laugh.
I hope this helps you better understand who and what Democrats are, once we define ourselves, rather than believing other groups’ false narrative. And while I respectfully disagree with your ideas about who I am and what I believe, I will defend to the death your right to your own opinion (however wrong I think it is-smile).
For anyone curious about an analysis of Trump supporters I would suggest a short article in http://www.psychologytoday.com. Once in the site go in the search area and type in -An Analysis of Trump Supporters Has Identified 5 Key Traits –
which is a back issue from December 31, 2017. It talks about a new report (at the time) which sheds light on the psychological basis for Trump’s support. And for a really good article from today, go to http://www.rawstory.com and read the one titled “Psychoanalyst explains the bizarre and dangerous reason Trump lacks ‘the ability to cope with’ reality.”
Zoe seems to have become a regular troll here. Since she obviously, and admitttedly, disagrees with the views supported in Louisiana Voice, one wonders why she even bothers to read it.
I have found that many folks just love to argue online or on Facebook. It seems to be a game with them. Many spout the same, tired, debunked junk and then follow up with their indignant insults. It really is a waste of time to try and reason with them or defend a position. I am thinking when we do this, they think they score a point. Anyway, I fired back….to no avail, I am sure.
I need to apologize to the readers of Louisiana Voice. I posted something earlier today and recommended a website where someone wrote a story about an interview with Donald J. Trump in 2017. I saw Mr. Aswell had removed my post and wondered about it. Until I remembered that in this interview, Trump had used words about women that probably didn’t even belong in the men’s locker room. So, my apologies to Mr. Aswell as well as any readers who may have read my post before it was taken down (rightly so).
I didn’t remove your comment. I don’t know why it wasn’t approved automatically. At any rate, if the language was contained in a legitimate news story, I have no problem posting it. I went into the pending files and found your comment and approved it for posting. It’s the fourth one above this or the fifth from the top.
Keep ’em coming.
