“Sorry losers and haters, but my IQ is one of the highest—and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault;”
—Donald Trump tweet, May 8, 2013.
“I think apologizing’s a great thing, but you have to be wrong. I will absolutely apologize, sometime in the hopefully distant future, if I’m ever wrong.”
—Donald Trump on The Tonight Show, Sept. 2015.
Everyone knows that trump possesses some serious mental/emotional problems, and even many, many of his ardent supporters recognize this..Yet, they just accept these problems. However, in addition to being an overt egotist, and profound narcissist, he is a sociopath. This latter condition explains his persistent lying and irrational behavior. As sociopath is a psychiatric term, many people may not be familiar with it. Therefore, I would strongly urge that they Goggle “sociopath”. If so, they will find that Trump meets all of the criteria. . This is serious personality disorder, and not always treatable..He won’t get better -and only likely will get worse. Such a person can not be trusted to make rational decisions, as choices are made according to what are perceived to be best for the individual sociopath and not for the country- even when unethical and illegal.
I agree with your assessment of President Trump as a sociopath, but do not agree that everyone knows he has serious mental/emotional problems – Of the now-approaching 45% of the population supporting him, I would be willing to bet no more than a tenth acknowledge this – and almost all of them are the elites who derive direct, selfish benefit from his presidency, many of whom are, themselves, psychopaths or sociopaths. The rest in his base are essentially oblivious to his instability – they believe he is smart and is doing the right thing.
I’m no expert, but I do have a master’s degree in psychology. When I was in school the term “sociopath” was not used. We only studied psychopaths and the fact there was essentially no effective treatment for people with that diagnosis. Based on what little I know, the main distinction between sociopaths and psychopaths is that sociopaths are not smart enough to avoid detection and they make up a significant chunk of our prison populations.
President Trump claims great intelligence and mental stability. The fact at least half of us can see otherwise is proof he is not smart enough to hide his pathology.
Anyone interested in having a greater understanding into Trump’s mental derangement should read the book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump” by Bandy Lee (the updated version) in which 37 psychiatrists and mental health experts assess the President. You can even download for free a PDF of the book. One of the authors, Lance Dodes, M.D. writes for example, “the failure of normal empathy is central to sociopathy, which is marked by an absence of guilt, intentional manipulation, and controlling or even sadistically harming others for personal power or gratification. People with sociopathic traits have a flaw in the basic nature of human beings. Far from being clever like a fox, they are lacking an essential part of being human. This is why sociopathy is among the most severe mental disturbances.” Trump is not crazy like a fox. He is crazy like a crazy. It is the best book I have yet to read for an understanding of how and why he is so mentally disturbed.
HUMAN, thanks CLG and Mr. Winham, and for the reasons yall stated I am trying to be nice to several facebook friends, all who own lots of weapons, and several family members. I was given a copy of Keith Oldermans ?”Trump is F****ing nuts at The View two years ago. Love the word Human, my latest buzz word, Susan and I at the Grand Canyon in Oct, had several Native Americans selling stuff and trying to be smart-aleck and show my recently learned Native amercian knowledge, what tribe do you belong ? He grinned, and said in a very educated and smooth voice, same as you Human. Trump is crazy, thanks and keep up the great journalism and love always ron thompsonj
