If you think for one nano-second that I’m going to gloat, you’re dead wrong.
What we witnessed in Helsinki yesterday is nothing for anyone to gloat over—unless your name is Putin. Yesterday, a day when an American president turned his back on his own country in a shameless display of deference to a tyrant, a murderer, and an enemy of this country, was a day that should have infuriated all true Americans.
On the other hand, for those of us who have been subjected to names like libtards, Clintonites, Obamaites, bleeding hearts, socialists, and worse, I have to admit watching the Trump train wreck in the last few weeks has provided a measure of, if not comfort, at least redemption.
So, allow me just a moment of self-indulgence:
If being a “libtard” means that I have an aversion to locking innocent children in cages, then libtard it is.
I’m all for law and order but if criticism of over-zealous cops who get their kicks tasing and beating handcuffed prisoners (see Iberia Parish) and shooting unarmed citizens makes me a bleeding heart, then so be it. There has to be a balance between protecting the public and running roughshod over people’s rights. My grandfather had a simple rule: “Never take a man’s dignity from him.”
If being more concerned for our environment than I am for corporate profits makes me an anarchist, then you and I have vastly different ideas of what anarchy is.
If my wanting to see everyone have access to decent medical care makes me a socialist, it’s a label I accept. After all, the biggest socialist of them all was a man named Jesus. He championed this radical philosophy of love for our fellow man.
I never cared for Hillary Clinton, but yes, I voted for her because I could not stomach the idea of voting for Trump. I didn’t want her as president, but I absolutely feared Trump. I split my vote on Obama, going for McCain the first time around and for Obama the second time. If those votes make me something akin to a scumbag in your eyes, then I guess that’s the way it has to be.
I reiterate that even for those of us who have consistently warned that this man Trump is an out-of-control lunatic, a dangerous commodity, whose attacks on the press and his persecution of certain ethnic groups is reminiscent of other dictators of the 20th century are not funny but portentous, it’s not fun being right. In fact, it’s downright frightening when you consider the prospects for what still may lie in store for the rest of his term.
Kim Jong-un took Trump for the fool he is and that “de-nuclearization agreement” turned out to be nothing of the sort. His triumphant boast that North Korea is “no longer a nuclear threat” ranks right up there with “Mission accomplished,” and “You’re doing a heckuva job, Brownie.”
Trump managed to insult Canada and the members of the G-7 summit for no good reason that I can see. He then infuriated the European Union with a barrage of insults en route to the fateful summit with Putin in Helsinki where he managed to commit nearly every blunder imaginable short of stepping on his own long red tie.
There are those, of course, who will continue to pledge loyalty to him in the mistaken belief that he “is doing what he said he would do” when in fact, he certainly is not. So far, he’s managed to convince Harley-Davidson and BMW to relocate American plants overseas. He’s overturned net neutrality. He is repealing one environmental protection regulation after another and doing the same with consumer protection laws. He’s destroying medical care while doing nothing to replace crumbling infrastructure. (Okay, he did promise to dismantle environmental and consumer protections and medical care—but are those really good things?
And let’s break down the issue of illegal immigration. Question: Why are so many Latinos trying to get into this country? Answer: To seek a better life. Question: How can they do that? Answer: They will work. Question: Why are we letting them take jobs from Americans? Answer (two parts): First, many of those jobs are jobs Americans don’t seem to want. Second, no immigrant EVER took an American’s job. American employers take those jobs and give them to illegal/undocumented immigrants who will work cheaper so they can make higher profits at the expense of your job and to the detriment of you and your family, so if you have a gripe, take it up with your former employer. It’s kind of like the drug smuggling problem. If there weren’t buyers, there would be no smugglers. Question: Why don’t they enter legally? Answer: See answer to previous question.
And even if he did accomplish what he promised, the results would, for the most part, be catastrophic for the very ones who continue to support him. That’s the cruel irony of the entire Trump experience: the ones who love him most are the ones he has promised to hurt the most.
Finally, let’s look at his support in Congress—the Republicans, a pretty shameful bunch in their own right, Louisiana’s own delegation included.
Most of you are far too young to remember and to tell the truth, I was only three when Richard Nixon first ran for Congress in 1946. As a member of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), Nixon plagued the Truman administration in a constant search for communists under every leaf in Washington and in every movie studio in Hollywood. Four years later, he ran for and was elected to the Senate. His entire 1950 campaign was based on red-baiting his opponent, Helen Gahagan Douglas.
Then there was the Red Scare of the 1940s and 50s, stoked by one Sen. Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, another Republican, and in 1964, one of the foremost Republican communist fighters, Barry Goldwater, was swamped by Lyndon Johnson in the presidential election. But Goldwater’s nomination laid the groundwork for what was to become a major anti-communism campaign for the Republicans, capped off by the Nixon comeback of 1968 and the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan, who carried on the anti-communism crusade with his classic line, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
Of course, with the new millennial, came a new enemy, Islam. But the threats of communist China, Russia, and North Korea always lurked in the background.
So now, saddled with the long-standing tradition of being the party to stand up against the Red Menace, Republicans are suddenly suffering massive whiplash from the party’s sudden lurch to the left, engineered by one Donald Trump.
What to do, what to do? Talk about a quandary. On the one hand, there’s tradition to uphold. On the other, there’s this misplaced loyaty to the party which somehow has found itself beholden to a man who has, by some accident of fate, been placed in the position of leader of the GOP and whose head is in such a position now that Putin is going to need a proctologist to find it.
Attention all Trumpites: now is the time for you to stand up and explain to the majority of Americans exactly who and what Herr Drumf’s foreign policy is designed to protect because it damn sure ain’t Americans. I suspect there must be a lot of soul searching in your midst right now. Although it’s fun and yet tragic to laugh at Trump’s faux pas’ we welcome you all back to reality and together let’s demand our congressional representatives impeach this traitor now. It’s never too late to come home. Go to Impeach Trump Now to register your new and enlightened vote.
Sorry. The correct site is http://WWW.needtoimpeach.com. Now let’s light up those computers and REALLY Make America Great Again.
There is no more denying where his true loyalties lie! He should be arrested and tried for treason. Many more dark days to come if this man is not stopped.
If you as a lib would listened to the entire press conference you have understood more. Don’t know which is worse you are cnn. Also if clinton was in office we would me closer to socialism, maybe you need to study about socialism to understand you wouldn’t be able to rant and rave like Francine Waters. The socialists government would shut you down.
I find it unbelievable you could even write such a thing, but I guess the polls are right. This POTUS can do absolutely anything and still keep his base of support. I thought his own example of walking away unscathed if he shot somebody on 5th Avenue was a stretch when he said it, but now that he has committed treason and you and others approve of it, I guess nothing is a stretch.
P. S. I watched every single minute of the press conference.
“Putin good, American intelligence bad. Putin good leader. America stupid.” What more did I need to hear? What did I miss?
Oh, and learn to spell. It’s “or,” not “are.” and socialist government is singular, not plural. and it’s “be closer,” not “me closer.”
And who is “Francine” Waters? Maybe you need to do a little studying of your own: it’s Maxine.
You appear to be about as knowledgeable and as well-informed as Trump.
There is no civil discourse anymore. If someone has a different opinion you immediately attack their grammar and call them stupid. Yes, you don’t actually call them stupid you just insinuate they are stupid. Whatever bandwagon passes by, you jump on board. What about the hypocritical democrats, Schumer, et al who are crying from the roof tops about our incompetent Prez who smooges with Putin, while they have actually smooged with Putin while not in an official setting like this meeting? Francine Maxine, who cares. She is an embarrassment to our country regardless of what she is called.
If you as a lib would listened to the entire press conference you have understood more. Don’t know which is worse you are cnn. Also if clinton was in office we would be closer to socialism, maybe you need to study about socialism to understand you wouldn’t be able to rant and rave like Francine Waters. The socialists government would shut you down.
Have you consulted a physician about your propensity to repeat yourself?
Immediately after the news conference I sent a brief email to all 3 members of my Congressional delegation expressing disgust with their continued self-serving and blind support of the POTUS and his/their party.
I did customize the individual letters though I had no expectation any of the members personally read them. As I have said before, they may not read our individual letters, but somebody (or some computer) on their staff does and they keep tick sheets.
I got an immediate, though canned, response from Senator Kennedy who, among our Congressional delegation, is the only member I’ve heard openly critical and distrustful of Russia and I commended him for this in my email.
PLEASE contact your members of Congress even if you agree with the POTUS’s actions (something I find it impossible to believe, but I have always looked with wonder at polls showing a 40 percent base of support).
Stephen – Did Sen. Kennedy tell you why he went to Russia with six other U.S. Senators? Was it a “vacation”? Was it to solidify their support of Trump? There is much to suspect about Kennedy’s obvious thrill at being included on this trip and then giving no reasonable explanation or agenda for said trip. He better be thinking about exactly where he stands in the Trump DC Swamp. Frankly, his “cornpone” comments are just not going to get him off of this hook with me!
Edith, here is what his letter said about that:
“As you know, the FBI and other federal agencies are exploring possible connections between some of President Trump’s staff and Russia. I believe we should never tolerate foreign influence on American affairs. The American people want and deserve answers to the current allegations against Russia. Recently, former Director of the FBI Robert Mueller was appointed to be special counsel to oversee the investigation. The Senate Intelligence Committee is also investigating the claims, along with other committees exploring concerns directly related to Russia. I hope to see the FBI and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees conduct full investigations that will ultimately bring any perpetrators to justice. The American people deserve no less. Rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as these investigations develop. ”
I don’t disagree with your point of view and hope to see at least Kennedy take a strong stand post-“summit” – if he doesn’t, the needle on my positive meter will drift further back in the negative direction.
Thanks for sharing the response from Kennedy on the Mueller investigation. However, he is silent on why he went to Russia and what he did there. I have received almost the same “form letter” from him. In fact, it seems that all politicians are using cut and paste form letters to placate those that question them…I find it insulting to be told that they are doing (with honor) the very things that you question them doing and assure us that they know best…
First, I’m totally nonpartisan. There is something much more dangerous than idiot trump. Few in congress have the guts to – as a team – confront trump and force his resignation or impeach him.
Those in congress who publicly support him are interested in only one thing; reelection. Everyone who remains on his staff and cabinet have distorted values and questionable intellect.
Continuing to work for a blithering, obnoxious, insiduous and abusive hot-head who abhors advice and intelligence information from fine, well-qualified people is a personal choice; a extremely bad one!!!
As far as I am concerned the president is not as smart as a Chipmunk!
Bob Mhoon
I’m thinking the Russian trolls are still in the U.S. awaiting their chance to disrupt the mid-term elections. One way to recognize you are being “trolled” is bad English, bad spelling, not getting vernacular, names and phrases quite right. Study harder LA1949.
Jeanette – there are several folks that pounce on any op-ed letter or opinion that even slightly hints that Trump/Republicans might be doing things that are not good for America. They use the same talking points and get very ugly and insulting when challenged for facts. These folks are not Russian trolls. They seem to think that the open forum is just a game of who can defend what the most, regardless of respect for facts. For the most part, I have just stopped posting where they reign and rule. Sad day for open discussion but there it is. I am not sure where they are getting their talking points but they are all on the same page.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT WHEN HE GOES IN AGAIN IN 2020. GOD LOVES YOU. JIM
And you are going to need good luck as much as any of us it that happens. Your faith in God must only be exceeded by your trust in Trump.
Stephen – it is not the strangest of times that American citizens are wondering what Russia must have on a sitting President that would cause him to turn against our allies and our own federal law enforcement, intelligence agencies and DOJ. To even be discussing this remote possibility is soul searing for me and at my advanced age, I can only be very afraid for future American generations. If I sound depressed, it is because I am! James Sidbury confirms the blindness to our National Security that is most chilling.
When Ted Kennedy looked for Soviet help against Ronald Reagan, I guess it was ok. No special prosecutor needed to jail Ted Kennedy. When Nixon went to China to meet with Mao Tse Tung (a murderer of millions), that is ok, too. When Bill Clinton gave millions of dollars and fuel and food to the North Korean torturers, that is ok, too. Nobody in this blog jumps up and down with these things. But when Trump has an admittedly bad press conference, it is the end of the world, who knew.
JF Kennedy was played by Nikita Khrushchev. And nobody thought that JFK was treasonous. But, what the heck.
And by the way, who was president when the Russians were meddling in the 2016 election? Where was that president? Playing golf? Who was that president’s CIA Director? Who was that president’s Director of National Intelligence? Who was that president’s Attorney General? What did all these people do about Russian meddling? Where were they? What were they doing?
Even more, I recall a press conference in October 2016 where President Obama laughed and joked about Trump’s claim that the Russians were rigging the election.
And also, I recall a debate in the 2012 election cycle where Obama laughed and joked about Mitt Romney, who said that the Russians were a big threat to the United States. Obama claimed that Romney was trying to “bring back the Cold War” (as did all the left wing commentariat on TV).
And not to mention when President Obama interfered directly in the Israeli elections, because he hated the current Israeli Prime Minister. But I guess that is ok, no need to jump hysterically up and down.
And it is also ok to interfere in the Brexit referendum in Britain, when Obama said that the “British would be sent back to the queue”, if they vote for Brexit. No problem there. No need to hysterically jump up and down.
Well, what do you know. I am glad that this blog is always right, and I am glad to learn that Jesus was the first Socialist. I am sure Jesus had a copy of Das Kapital with him, and of course, “Rules for Radicals” by Alinski. This is new theological ground that I had never thought of. You see, in South America there was a terrorist group called the “Tupamaros”. They claimed that Jesus was the first “tupamaro”. I always discounted this as silly poppycock, but who knows, maybe they were onto something. A new way of theological thinking.
Such an eloquent argument in defense of Trump is much more frightening than the half-literate posting by La1949. Though deliberate and well-organized, your argument comes directly from the unpublished Playbook of Trump:
When you can’t really defend something, per se, deflect the debate away from it while pointing fingers at others with charges that may or may not be true – and regardless, use these as a defense in the old, “everybody else has done worse” mold. Then,as the coup de gras, deliver a strong, sarcastic closing that has little relevance to the point at hand at all. In short, always be a winner (in your own mind) and never look back.
P. S. What did your Mother tell you when you used the “everybody else is doing it” defense?
You just don’t get it, Stephen. If you are willing to criticize Trump (and in the case of this particular instance, the press conference in Helsinki, rightly so), you have to be willing to criticize similar situations that his opponents found themselves in. But, alas, you do not have an answer to the questions. Thus, you criticize the method, but cannot reply to the questions.
The Russian Meddling happened under Obama’s watch. Obama ridiculed it, and ridiculed Mitt Romney. Obama even made a stupid comment like that he told Putin “to cut it out”. Really? I am sure Vlad Putin was shaking in his boots when Obama told him that.
Loretta Lynch was busy meeting Bill Clinton on a tarmac, and the whole Obama Administration was busy spying on the Trump campaign, while letting the Russians interfere with the elections. John Brennan was having naps at the CIA and James Clapper was busy lying to Congress. But none of this counts in this blog. And yes, there are unanswered questions, like – why did the DNC refuse to hand over its hacked servers? Where are Hillary Clinton’s erased e-mails? Who hacked into Hillary’s server?
Trump was not president, Obama was. Even a bonehead like Jake Tapper at CNN acknowledged as much. But evidently, you can’t. And most of the readers in this blog can’t either.
And Jesus the first socialist? Gimme a break, please.
And by the way Stephen: if this Russian hacking and meddling thing is really so important, why doesn’t Robert Mueller, that all powerful special prosecutor, indict Vladimir Putin directly? Putin allegedly knew about all of this interfering and hacking. Instead of charging 12 Russians who are nobodies, why not go straight to the top and indict Vlad? Have you ever thought about that?
Very good Tichy. I just hope Edith and all above read your comment. Yes I have faith in both God then Trump…………
Take the blinders off and pay attention. He is making a fool out of you.
I had no choice but to vote for HC, and I am not ashamed of it, she was well vetted, her taxes public record, she was certainly the smartest, and knew the difference between friend and foe. Trump, is compromised, somehow and it will take the Mueller investigation, to bring us the truth, and the Trumpkins will not accept it, if it implicates him..they have a blind loyalty which I don’t have….
“and knew the difference between friend and foe.”
Oh yes, boy, did she know. Especially those women that Bill messed with, and that Hillary made their lives hell. But, who cares?
Ah, the Muller investigation…. yes. Again, it does not matter that Obama was president when the Russian meddling happened. Loretta Lynch was busy talking grandkids with Bill Clinton, and Hillary was busy destroying cell phones and e-mails. A fine woman.
Tichy: I’ve refrained from engaging you in a back and forth debate because it usually means back and forth insults. But I finally have to say that yes, Ted Kennedy, Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, Obama, the Bushes all have interfered with or sought secret help from other countries (Russia, Iran, Vietnam, Israel). And yes, the Russian interference occurred during Obama’s administration. And trump was 100 percent correct in pointing out that we as a nation have a history of interfering in the affairs of other countries from Central America to the Mideast to the Far East and it really is difficult to express indignation over interference in our own affairs by another country.
BUT there is nothing written anywhere that says our leaders must or should embrace interference. Trump’s is by far the most overt and most shameless display of utter sycophancy I have seen in my 75 years.
And the truth of the matter is none of those events you cited diminishes the seriousness of Trump’s actions. Your snide swipes at me personally (or this blog) does nothing to make what he has done right or proper. One need only look at the endless list of connections between Trump and Russian oligarchs—from his bank loans to the sale of his Florida mansion to the sale of condos to Russians to the infamous Trump Towers meeting to reach the conclusion that something very sinister is at play here. And as a side note, I find it more than a little interesting that Putin is the only adversary for whom Trump has not coined a derogatory nickname. Nitpicking? Perhaps, but certainly curious.
To have to defend Trump by condemning others is a weak justification. Bill Clinton used that tactic and it was repulsive.
If you’re going to defend Trump, it would help if you could point to something positive he has done. Pointing out the shortcomings of others is not a valid defense.
Tichy,
So, using your analogy should I blame Melanie for the women Trump groped? Please show me where I have defended bIll Clinton on his womanizing…..if you still believe that the Mueller investigation is a witch hunt then we have nothing more to discuss…
Tom Aswell: “Your snide swipes at me personally” – false. I did not take a snide swipe to you personally. You evidently have thin skin. I did take a snide swipe at your comment that Jesus was the first socialist, which I consider a completely dumb comment.
And – of course, you never, ever take snide swipes at your critics, do you?
You never cast the first stone. Come on Tom, get a grip.
As for Trump and his business dealings, yes, the guy has investments all over the world, he is a billionaire – so do many other people and many other companies. Exxon for starters. And yes, all these people and companies have dealings with billionaire oligarchs close to Putin. So?
You also claim: ” Pointing out the shortcomings of others is not a valid defense.” I don’t agree, sorry. It provides analogy and context.
I leave it here, because I cannot refute everything line by line.
Charmaine McEachern: you did not understand my comment. My comment was related to Hillary. Bill abused women, and Hillary protected Bill, by making the lives of those women a living hell. My comment was because you claimed that Hillary knows who her friends and her foes were. And I supported it that claim, by pointing out, how Hillary treated those women. And you voted for Hillary.
As for Robert Mueller, well, you yourself say that there is nothing more to discuss, which is a sad comment. Because there are many questions regarding Mueller’s probe, questions raised not necessarily by die-hard Trump supporters, but by people who follow this stuff closely. But you are not interested, Charmaine. You are not interested in logic, in arguments, in thinking. You just drink the cool-aid of Trump haters.
Let me give you an example: there is a professor of law at Northwestern University (this is Northwestern in Evanston, IL, not Northwestern State… just saying…), of name Steven Calabresi, who argues that Robert Mueller’s appointment as special prosecutor is not constitutional. Why? Because, so claims this professor, it violates the Appointments Clause in the US Constitution.
Have you read his argument? Have you thought about it? Probably not. You just drink the cool-aid.
>The Russian Meddling happened under Obama’s watch.<
Yes it did and Obama went to Congress and personally met with McTurtle and other Senators to try to get a joint statement issued about the "meddling", actually hackling. McTurtle turned him down flat saying no joint statement.

Tichy and la1949,
The truly intelligent learn from errors made by others and self so as not to repeat them. Others did it so it’s okay for us is a very poor excuse.
The fact that he go t the Republican nomination, was a stunner, for me, the party of family values, red, white and blue, the real Americans, and they give us Donald Trump, an entitled philandering, greedy, ignorant narcissist, who used every racist, sexist dog whistle, to chum the crowds, and it worked…. so I am left with the notion that we are more like him than not…..oh and let’s not forget the role that Fox media played, he has his own propaganda channel, Sean Hannity reads him a bedtime story every night, how scary is that?
I voted for HC, and I am not sorry, she is probably the most vetted candidate in history, she has been investigated for decades, which is a bit telling, she has no indictments, as yet, Republicans have hated her, because she chose to do something more than choose new drapes, and paint color in her public life as First Lady, but, if wrong doing had been proven, I would have accepted it…….that is the big problem we have with Trump supporters, they have a blind loyalty that is dangerous to democracy….I have a daughter, and granddaughters, and Donald Trump does not reflect any of the values that my late husband, and I raised them with… nada!!
This presidency has made me wonder whether 40% of our population are hypocrites, purposefully uninformed, just plain mean – or, all of the above.
I know one thing for sure, if Obama, had displayed the same behavior as Trump, the Republicans would have spontaneously combusted, and I think it’s all of the above, I hear it on a daily basis…
Trump is President because a majority of people in this country are fed up with the entrenched republicans and democrats that are marching in lockstep to their ultimate goal which is to destroy the country as we know it. Or used to know it. You call Trump supporters and voters names, you do realize that there were large numbers of union members and moderate democrats that voted for Trump ehh?
Nothing you say is incorrect. However, none of it excuses the inexcusable actions of Trump.
Sorry, to clarify: The part about what the Democrats are doing correctly identifies how those on your side of the argument view it, not the way it is.
Sidwit, a couple of points to add to your comments which, for the most part are on point. First Trump supporters aren’t the only ones being called names here and that should stop. If we cannot have a rational discussion of ideology, then what’s the point of trying? So, please, let’s cease the name-calling on both sides.
Second, I don’t think you meant to imply that Trump got a majority of the vote because I know you are an informed individual from your past comments, but that’s the way it appeared. He, of course, received a majority of the electoral vote, but certainly not the popular vote. I know what you meant, and personally, I agree with you, but it just didn’t read that way.
As a fellow liberated, I totally concur with all you have said. Some of these folks need to get out from under a rock or out of the South for awhile to see the light of day. Kay
It amazes me the amount of people who actually expected Trump to threaten a world leader on stage at a freaking news conference..
If he did, he would be called unprofessional and unpresidential and his finger is on the button! 🙄
As opposed to complete capitulation before the entire world? Yeah, that’s smart diplomacy. C’mon man, you can rationalize only so far before it takes on a somewhat pitiful form of mindless hero worship – like the people who thought Marcus Welby was a real doctor.
This sums it up
Remember when Donald Trump was business partners with the Russian government and his company got 53 million from the Russian government investment fund called Rusnano that was started by Vladimir Putin and is referred to as “Putin’s Child”?
Oh wait, that wasn’t Trump it was John Podesta.
Remember when Donald Trump received 500 thousand for a speech in Moscow and paid for by Renaissance Capital, a company tied to Russian Intelligence Agencies?
Oh wait, that was Bill Clinton.
Remember when Donald Trump approved the sale of 20% of US uranium to the Russians while he was Secretary of State which gave control of it to Rosatom the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation?
Oh wait, that was Hillary Clinton.
Remember when Donald Trump lied about that and said he wasn’t a part of approving the deal that gave the Russians 1/5 of our uranium, but then his emails were leaked showing he did lie about it?
Oh wait, that was Hillary Clinton and John Podesta.
Remember when Donald Trump got 145 million dollars from shareholders of the uranium company sold to the Russians?
Oh wait, that was Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.
Remember when Donald Trump accepted millions in donations from Russian Oligarchs like the chairman of a company that’s part of the Russian Nuclear Research Cluster, the wife of the mayor of Moscow, and a close pal of Putin’s?
Oh wait, that was the Clinton Foundation.
Remember when Donald Trump failed to disclose all those donations before becoming the Secretary of State, and it was only found out when a journalist went through Canadian tax records?
Oh wait, that was Hillary Clinton.
Remember when Donald Trump told Mitt Romney that the 80s called and it wanted its Russian policy back. The Cold War is over?
Oh wait, that was President Obama.
Remember when Trump got caught on a hot mic telling the Russian ambassador he’d have much more flexibility after the elections, and the ambassador said he’d pass it on to Putin?
Oh wait, that was Obama.
Man… Trump’s ties to Russia are really disgusting!
I will make this simple statement one more time: Even if everything you report here is true, how does any of it excuse Trump from his inexcusable actions?
Remember when most everything you posted is either a gross distortion of fact or just outright BS?
I’ve been watching all this back and forth, which is solving nothing. But I can’t help but notice the biggest defense of the Trumpites is to continue to point fingers and say “They did it, too.” That doesn’t excuse Trump’s actions.
We could all make a nice little list just like yours, only turning it on Trump. Like his undisputed dealings with the Russians, his selling his Florida mansion to a Russian oligarch for $100 million (a $50 million profit on a mold-infested house that was immediately bulldozed down, by the way – looks a lot like money laundering to me), his selling his condos in Trump Towers to the Russian oligarchs (more money laundering?), the meeting in Trump Tower that he is supposed to have known nothing about (anyone still believe that?). I could go on and on with the Trump-Russian connections, but it would not change your mind.
Yes, the Clintons had their dealings but there never any call by Clinton to hack Trump’s email account. Trump did call on them to hack Clinton’s. We all heard it. We all heard Trump cave in to Putin on Monday. We all heard his weaker than weak walk-back on Tuesday.
Somehow, when I read the fanatical defenses of and the unquestioning devotion to Trump, I’m reminded of a cult. The only thing missing right now is the Kool-Aid.
I’m really not sure how far back they should have gone in draining the swamp (Nixon, Clinton, Obama?), but it’s pretty obvious from the orange haired clown with the long red tie that it should be an ongoing project. Just looking at his cabinet appointments and his WH staff, it’s obvious that the draining is far from complete.
The only thing worse about people who are easily duped and easily fooled is getting them to own up to having been fooled. Don’t waste your time rolling in the mud with a pig……you both get dirty and the pig likes it. Spend your time getting involved in saving our democracy. Get active. Find a group. Registar folks to vote. Bug the hell out of your terrible reps in congress. Words count action can change. Get out there. We need everyone. The kool aid has been drunk…..let us work together to save our great country.
You have stated the magic ingredient, and it is us, I knew when Trump was nominated over other more qualified and decent candidates, that my vote had to go to someone who had a chance of beating him, warts and all….it wasn’t an option to vote for a third party, or stay on the couch..
