When it comes to sucking up to Donald Trump, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has no peer.
In Jeff Landry’s very limited world view, the Trumpster can do no wrong—just as (in Landry’s opinion) Gov. John Bel Edwards can do nothing right.
Never mind that at least 18 women have come forward to say that Frump molested or attempted to molest them in some fashion over the years.
He’s Jeff’s boy.
Never mind that candidate Grump was heard plainly boasting to Billy Bush about how he loves to grab women.
He’s Jeff’s boy.
Never mind that Thumper openly bragged about bursting into the dressing room of Miss USA candidates, grabbing and pawing the terrified contestants.
He’s Jeff’s boy.
Never mind that Trump approved, before actually reading it, the release of that Nunes memo that was supposed to be a bombshell that would completely discredit the Mueller investigation—but who now refuses to approve the release of the Democrats’ memo rebutting the Nunes memo.
He’s Jeff’s boy.
Never mind that Trump pointed out that Rob Porter, ousted from his White House job after two ex-wives claimed he physically abused them, had never received “due process,” said lament coming just over a year after he chanted on the campaign trail of Hillary Clinton: “Lock her up!”
Not that there’s any lost sympathy for Hillary here, but didn’t she deserve “due process” just as much as Porter?
But never mind, Trump’s Jeff’s boy.
And that’s from the supposed top legal authority in state government.
Now, that’s truly sad for a guy who can’t seem to close out investigations of felony theft in the Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Alton Sterling shooting, or, after nearly two years, the rape of a 17-year-old girl by an already-convicted rapist in a Union Parish jail cell.
Here are a few examples of Jeff Landry press releases, issued courtesy of Louisiana taxpayer dollars:

Majority Whip Congressman Steve Scalise Returns to Congress; Attorney General Jeff Landry Elated
BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry today enthusiastically recognized the return of Majority Whip Steve Scalise to the U.S. House Floor:
“It is truly a miracle to see Majority Whip, and my good friend, Steve Scalise return to the House Floor today. Witnessing his triumphant return took us all back to that emotional and terrifying morning in June when he was shot while practicing for the annual Congressional baseball game, an event Steve cherished. As he said this morning in his address, the Capitol Police officers who rushed to his aid that day were heroes – saving his life and undoubtedly the lives of many others. The Capitol Police work tirelessly to keep all members of Congress safe and as a former Congressman, I am grateful for their service. Steve’s message of faith presented on the House Floor today is important for all Americans regardless of religion, political party, or background. Steve’s will to live, his strong faith in God, the selflessness of the Capitol Police, and the prayers of people across the world carried him through. I look forward to following Steve as he continues to be a ferocious leader for Louisiana and our country.”

BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry applauded the White House’s announcement of Louisiana natives Kyle Duncan and Eastern District Chief Judge Kurt Engelhardt to the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
The AG’s full statement may be found below:
“Kyle is an exceptional constitutional lawyer and will make an excellent appellate judge. Kyle has vast experience in complex constitutional cases, both civil and criminal. In every case, he demonstrates that is a consummate professional. He and his wife Martha have deep roots in Louisiana, and we are glad he will be bringing his family and intellect back home.
Chief Judge Kurt Engelhardt is also a great choice. Judge Engelhardt has been serving on the federal bench in Louisiana since 2001 and has time and again demonstrated his commitment to the highest principles of judicial ethics and service. We have been lucky to have him on the district court bench here for the last 16 years and are happy to share his intellect and sound judicial instincts with the rest of the Fifth Circuit.

Clean Power Plan Repealed, AG Jeff Landry Praises Decision by Trump Administration
BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry is praising EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s decision today to repeal the Clean Power Plan, an Obama overreach that would have devastated Louisiana’s power plants and energy consumers.
“On behalf of Louisiana workers, job creators, and consumers – I commend Administrator Pruitt and the Trump Administration for repealing this unconstitutional, job-killing regulation,” said General Landry. “The so-called Clean Power Plan was always a political attempt to force states into green energy submission.”
“Since taking office – I have challenged the legality of the Clean Power Plan, worked with fellow attorneys general to get a stay in federal court on the mandate, and pushed for today’s repeal,” continued General Landry. “The Trump Administration has acknowledged the Clean Power Plan was an unprecedented Washington power grab not only from the states but also from other federal regulatory agencies. It would have cost tens of billions to implement, jeopardized Louisiana’s six coal-powered plants, and devastated the pocketbooks of our State’s seniors and working families who rely upon low-cost energy.”

BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry applauded President Trump’s nomination of Louisiana Department of Justice (LADOJ) Criminal Director Brandon Fremin as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District.
“President Trump’s nomination of Brandon Fremin is a grand slam homerun. Brandon has truly lived a life of public service, both as a Marine and a prosecutor,” said General Landry. “Brandon has been a tremendous asset to our office; and I am confident that he will lead the U.S. Attorney’s Office in a fair, ethical, and honest way.”
In January 2016, Fremin was hired to serve the Criminal Director for General Landry’s office where he oversees several sections including: general prosecutions, insurance fraud, and the award-winning Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Under his watch, over 15 public officials have been arrested for public corruption charges – many of whom are currently being prosecuted by the LADOJ.

Federal Marijuana Enforcement Policy Praised by AG Jeff Landry
BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement in support of today’s decision by United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions to rescind the Cole Memo:
“I applaud Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his decision to promote the rule of law and rescind the Cole Memo. This issue affects banking, interstate commerce, public safety, and many other areas that are best addressed by Congress not by Executive fiat. Fortunately, the Trump Administration has worked tirelessly to reverse the ill practices of the previous administration. This issue should be settled by our lawmakers, not our law enforcers. Choosing to not enforce duly enacted laws is a dangerous precedent. Whether the law concerns the legality of marijuana or immigration, non-enforcement by the Department mandated to execute the laws is bad policy.”
Wonderful. We now have the Louisiana attorney general and the U.S. attorney general working to keep our prisons overcrowded with non-violent offenders.

Louisiana AG Jeff Landry Praises President Donald Trump’s State of the Union
BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry praised President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, especially the parts about two issues of great concern to General Landry: the opioid crisis and illegal immigration.
The opioid crisis is a critical public safety issue that General Landry has spent much time fighting, as it has affected his ability to keep communities safe.
“As the Attorney General of a state most impacted by the opioid crisis, I applaud President Trump for his efforts to end this epidemic,” said General Landry. “President Trump’s support not only helps families struggling with addiction; but also those of us working to reduce opioid misuse, abuse, and overdose.”
Another American public safety issue that General Landry has railed against is illegal immigration. General Landry has repeatedly called for an end to sanctuary cities, most recently when he led an 11-state coalition in a legal brief supporting President Trump’s executive order that prohibits sanctuary cities from receiving grant dollars from specific federal programs.
“As a state chief legal officer tasked with enforcing the law and protecting citizens, I salute President Trump for his commitment to border security,” added General Landry. “President Trump’s efforts to end sanctuary cities will help law enforcement throughout our Nation make our communities safer.”
General Landry, the President-Elect of the National Association of Attorneys General, looks forward to continue working with the Trump Administration on these issues and others of importance to the people of Louisiana.
You probably noticed that Landry manages to make himself the story in virtually every press release coming out of his office. Even when he is voicing support or praise for some program or individual, he somehow manages to begin nearly every release with “Attorney General Jeff Landry…” and oftentimes even manages to sneak his name into a headline for the release.
Well, Jeff, old boy, what we’d really like to see instead of you spending your time trying to score brownie points with Trump and Sessions who, in all likelihood, don’t even know who you are, we’d love to see this headline on one of your press releases:
“Attorney General’s Office releases results of Union Parish jail rape investigation.”
After all, it’s been nearly two years and dozens upon dozens of self-aggrandizing press releases extolling the virtues of one Jeff Landry.
But we won’t hold our breath.
Landry made the following statement in the Press Release regarding marijuana Enforcement above. “Choosing to not enforce duly enacted laws is a dangerous precedent. Whether the law concerns the legality of marijuana or immigration, non-enforcement by the Department mandated to execute the laws is bad policy.”
Okay Landry, then do the job regarding the Union Parish Detention Center rape you were charged with doing in order that we may all read the headline as proposed by Mr. Aswell. “Attorney General’s Office releases results of Union Parish jail rape investigation.”
Until then Landry, kindly just shut the heck up!
All I can say is that I provided compelling evidence that “blatant payroll fraud” was (and likely still is — nobody is monitoring the office) transpiring at the Auctioneer’s Licensing Board. The most corrupt person I have ever met in my life, former AG James D. “Buddy” Caldwell, responded by having the Board hire convicted felon Larry S. Bankston to pursue my auction license for reporting the matter. When Jeff Landry was a candidate, I asked him how he would handle such a matter. Here’s his response:
Landry has lived at to his word, so he has my unwavering support because I have communicated with his office at length about Mr. Bankston, and he and his office has demonstrated that they listened and took my communications to heart. Feel free to cast stones at me if you’d like, but I can’t tell you how refreshing it has been to have an AG who actually took all my research (extensive as it is) on Bankston and acted on it.
When I say Landry has taken action regarding Bankston, here is what I reference:
http://www.soundoffla.com/?p=1346.
I will have another post on this ongoing litigation later this week, but I guess I consider myself in good company with Landry in that we have both now been sued by Bankston. For me, it’s the ONLY time I have ever been named defendant in a lawsuit in my life!!
I got my suit dismissed via a three page memo I filed and attended the court hearing pro se. By any objective assessment, Landry is kicking Bankston’s (Edwards’) ass in these court hearings, and I for one am enjoying having a front row seat to watch every second of it (much to Bankston’s chagrin).
Robert, if Jeff Landry’s office has done something positive for you then he deserves credit for it and I congratulate him for it. However I wonder how Bankston, appointed by Caldwell who was AG during the infamous Jindal years, transform into Landry kicking Edward’s ass other than the fact that you don’t like Edwards. Now Edwards is no saint, none of us are, but he has nothing to do with your case whatsoever. All that being said the call remains for Jeff Landry to get off his ass, quit all his grandstanding, and do his job rather than campaigning for the next job although he isn’t even sure what that will be. That’s all up to John “you can love someone but keep your gun pointed at em” Kennedy.
Bob, your statement is simply not accurate, and if you’d even looked at the link I gave you and even read the material at the very top, you wouldn’t make such an ill-advised statement and you’d see Edwards continues Caldwell’s oppression!! How?
First, Edwards ousted Rev. Phillips, my good friend referenced on the video above from the LALB above only 15 days after appointing him. Who’d he replace him with? Darlene “Money Bags” Jacobs who, not satisfied with merely drafting a damning email to her State Senator seeking that Phillips not be confirmed, https://i2.wp.com/www.soundoffla.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Jacobs_Email.jpg, is now pushing HARD to shut down Rev. Phillips’ auction School (at which I teach 70% of the course’s content).
Edwards was at the January 8, 2018 BRPC meeting, and Rev. Phillips met with him and Richard Carbo for 12 minutes on the matter. Rev. Phillips indicated they both told him “not to worry. We’ve got this sitution under control and your school will not be shut down.” Carbo even gave him his number and told him to “call anytime.” Phillips has called repeatedly, and Carbo refuses to even return his messages seeking a call back.
And Bob, here’s a screenshot of approved auction schools as of 2/2/18, and I would draw your attention to the big blank spot where one has been removed:
Next time, Bob, I respectfully request that you click on links I provide. I don’t provide them for no reason, and they may save you a little embarrassment in making some ill-advised comments about my situations which I assure you I will have far more knowledge of than you!
You’re correct that I didn’t watch the links. Quite honestly I come here to read Tom’s blog, not yours, and I did watch a couple of your first links regarding the Auctioneer Board several years ago. After 30 or so of your diatribes regarding the subject I usually don’t read em at all but you got a couple sentences in before bringing up your life’s work. Embarrassed, no. Having to hear you pushing your blog, not interested. As soon as you say auctioneer I tune out. That’s what your blog is for. Hey, I complimented Landry for actually doing something although only at your word. Wouldn’t vote him dogcatcher though.
You’re welcome to tune it out, but I submit you should tune it totally out which would include making completely false statements about my situation.
As for promoting my blog, I PROMISE you that I have F/B shared more of Tom’s articles than you have. Furthermore, as I have stated publicly, whenever he needs a court case, he knows he need send a simple email (which he often does), and I’m going to get it for him (usually within 24 hours and often MUCH faster). That’s the case irrespective of who the suit entails. Further, I have even volunteered court cases (including one in which Landry has been sued by one of his own employees) for him to do with as he may please (my guess is he’s forgotten all about that particular one). Why would I do that if I didn’t have a sense of fairness and public disclosure?
Entailing those suits, never once has Tom failed to inquire, “What do I owe you?” I always respond with nothing because reporters like him willing to do the tedious (and often thankless) job of digging through documents that you know damn well others didn’t want you to have are a vanishing breed. I have also traveled with him extensively to sit it on interviews, and he’s comfortable with that because he knows I’m not going to utter a word of what was said until after he opts to run a story on the situation if he opts to do so.
The bottom line, Bob, is that you better have EVERY fact straight when you reference me or my “case,” because if you don’t, I can and will call you out on it, and I would expect no less of you were the situation reversed.
Admit it. Bel got it in for the black man and that include Bishop Phillips.
How many did Slick Willie do TOM
Um, who is “Slick Willie”? And how many of what? And why is Tom in all caps? Is this some kind of code I’m supposed to know?
Oh, wait. I get it. You’re going way, way back and dredging up Bill Clinton. Well, you’re absolutely correct. Bill was just as guilty as Trump when it came to the way he treated women, so don’t bother trying to tie me to Bill because it won’t work. I’m not a fan of Bill or Hillary, or Billary, as they came to be called. Bill and Trump are cut from the same predatory cloth and in fact, were pretty tight until Trump got ideas about running for president and found himself opposed by Hillary. But you kind of missed the whole point of the story, didn’t you?
You see (and I’ll write this slowly so you can grasp it), the post was actually about Jeff Landry, not Trump. It was about Jeff Landry, not Bill or Hillary Clinton.
I’ll say it again, so so you’re clear: it was about Jeff Landry—and his failure to do his job, like investigating a jailhouse rape of a 17-year-old girl, an investigation that was referred to him 22 months ago.
I must say that I am significantly disappointed in General Landry. I was looking for landmark change and a pursuit of justice from his energy.. What I see is self preservation and feathering of his nest for his next job, whatever that might be. Our warning should have been, what real court room experience does he have. I must admit I was fooled. Same ole politician different name.
All right. Full disclosure. The reality is that I have a ton of followers on my blog who are unhappy with Landry. I have alerted them to this fact, and two of them are openly confronting Landry on it. I will give their names because, at this point, they’re vocal and open about it: Craig Mills (alleged adoption scam victim) and Billy Broussard (long story but Landry was his attorney and Judge Ritchie took a pop shot at Landry’s legal skills). There are others, one of who even conducted a fundraiser for Landry in 2015 but recently sent me a text stating he’s a “f—- face.”
A common complaint seems to be you have to conduct your own investigations (Mills contends through civil litigation). Maybe through all my videos and extensive documentation (which Bob has every right to ignore), I made it easy for him. I can only state that his relentless pursuit of Bankston is enough to offset a TON of shortcomings for me. I guess, in the end, our like or dislike for ANY politician boils down to personal experience, and for me personally, it’s been good when it has come down to Jeff Landry and his office listening to me and reacting in kind.
You’re right I am not happy especially when Jeff Landry personally told me (which now Jeff Landry is a witness) himself that “You ask me if they committed fraud yes they committed fraud that’s why I am running for Attorney General…” And to make it clear this is GOHSEP/FEMA fraud. And I believe this could be described as a RICO case. What frustrates me is the same attorneys that are covering up this criminal behavior (as seen in the attachment below) are approved by the AG’s office and are being paid with taxpayers money.
Now here’s JBE baffled at AG Landry “not consulting me.”: https://youtu.be/eprP1wZ2po8.
Well, maybe he should try not insisting upon a convicted felon to serve as chief legal counsel for a critical board like the Contractor Board and having to be shamed and humiliated into that Board hiring a renowned construction-law attorney like Kevin Landreneau. Why should Landry “consult” with Edwards when he sees such irresponsible behavior on full display to the extent that he’s even named as a defendant in a lawsuit by Bankston.
Geez……Give me a break already!
Some observations:
Geeeeeez, Mr. Burns! We came here to read Tom’s Blog and relevant comments, and we get seven posts by you with videos and other references. For me, I would ask that you give us a break!
General Landry is playing politics with everything, and it will come back to bite him. He is another who thinks the public is not smart enough or turned in enough to see and recognize what he is doing and, especially, what he is not doing. That is the case, as long as everyone continues to watch and speak up. [His obvious stalling on the Alton Sterling matter, as well as the alleged rape Tom writes of, are inexcusable and damaging to all.]
Tom, it appears that you may have been standing too close to the Democratic Kool-Aid when preparing your ice tea.
