“The signing of SB 469 is a huge victory for the oil and gas industry as well as the economy for the state of Louisiana…”
—Don Briggs, president of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, commenting on Gov. Bobby Jindal’s signing of SB 469 which effective kills the lawsuit by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East (SLFPA-E) against 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies.

Can they sue in federal court?
It would be difficult. In my 20 years defending lawsuits against the state for the office of Risk Management, plaintiffs were required to sue the state in state court. But there could possibly be an exception with this issue.
Our best course of action is to vote these clowns who voted for this bill out of office.
It looks like to me that the state via its legislators and it’s alleged governor, just took liability for all the destruction of the oil companies during 100 years without state regulation. Let them share the cleanup!
